The City is seeking a Payroll Technician to support the Finance Department. Under general direction of the Finance Manager or Administrative Services Director, the Payroll Technician performs payroll and related financial recordkeeping functions.

Primary areas of responsibility include payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements, and general finance support as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares and processes the full cycle semi-monthly payroll;
• Sets up and maintains employee master file records in the payroll system;
• Reviews personnel action forms (PAFs) and other employee deduction and contribution forms for completeness and accuracy and makes necessary entries into the payroll system;
• Reviews time and attendance records for accuracy and compliance with various MOUs and City policies;
• Reviews system-generated FLSA overtime payments, various payroll deductions and fringe benefit calculations and makes necessary adjustments;
• Performs retroactive pay calculations and applies adjustments;
• Runs trial payroll and reviews for accuracy; makes corrections as needed;
• Analyzes various payroll reports for error and out-of-balance messages and reconciles any discrepancies;
• Generates pay checks and direct deposits;
• Calculates separation payouts, including lump sum leave payouts and contributions to deferred compensation plans;
• Prepares spreadsheets to record and track disbursements;
• Creates accounts payable claims for payment of payroll liabilities and assists in reconciling payroll clearing accounts;
• Tracks accrued payroll tax liability, monitors deadlines and prepares tax deposits;
• Assists employees with various questions and requests for information;
• Receives and researches requirements for wage assignment orders and tax levies and implements related deductions;
• With guidance from Human Resources, Interprets and applies MOU provisions and City policies and procedures;
• Receives and completes various forms, surveys and verifications of employment;
• Assists in the preparation and reconciliation of annual W-2 forms;
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, retirees and all external customers; and
• Maintains a variety of payroll records and assists with gathering information requested by auditors or in response to Public Records Act requests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The ability to maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer.  Acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.  The need to lift, drag and push files, computer reports or other materials weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking a dynamic, professional leader who is a collaborative problem-solver to serve as the next Planning Director. The Planning Director will direct, oversee, and materially participate in the work of the City’s Planning Department, including current and long-range planning, maintenance of the General Plan, Housing Element, and zoning codes, and review of proposals for construction and development within the City of Sebastopol. The selected candidate will coordinate activities, permits, and projects with other City departments. In addition to reviewing and preparing recommendations to the Planning Commission on development proposals, and serve as the official secretary and officer of the Planning Commission.

The Planning Director performs professional planning duties in the fields of long-range planning, current planning, and building permitting, including a variety of diverse professional planning assignments. The incumbent will oversee technical reviews and evaluations of land use and permit applications, handle the most complex customer service issues, environmental impact documents, and construction projects, and provide supervision or lead direction to professional and support staff. The director will ensure compliance with all aspects of the City’s General Plan and related ordinances and laws, and perform related work as assigned.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders 

This recruitment is for spring, summer and fall events and activities beginning March 9th, such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues, Fourth of July, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, Halloween and other fun classes, activities, and events. Ideal candidates will be available to referee Monday through Thursday each week and/or to staff events on Friday evenings from June through August and occasional Saturdays. 

Pay: $16.90 - $17.90/ Hr.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting part-time temporary help for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people.

Water System Operator I

This is the entry-level class in the Water System Operator classification series. This class is responsible for providing support for assigned water operations and programs. Initially under close supervision, incumbents with basic maintenance experience learn City infrastructure, systems and facilities, use of tools and equipment, and a wide variety of practices and procedures. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the II level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

Water System Operator II

This is the journey-level class in the Water System Operator classification series responsible for performing the full range of technical duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities to which assigned are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and systems. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Senior Water System Operator in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional supervision of lower-level maintenance staff and for performing the most complex duties assigned to the series.

Senior Water System Operator 

This is the advanced journey-level in the water system operator classification series that performs the most complex duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and systems. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned section. The work involves problem-solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent and/or structure. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products. This class is distinguished from the chief water operator in that the latter is the full supervisory-level class in the series responsible for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned staff involved in water quality and operations.

The City of Menlo Park is hiring Recreation Specialists to support City-operated Summer Camp programs serving children ages 4.5 through 13 years old for programs running June 15th through August 14th, 2026.

Under general supervision, Recreation Specialists provide direct supervision of participants and assist with age-appropriate recreational, enrichment, and physical activities in compliance with California Community Care Licensing (Title 22) requirements and City policies. This position requires active engagement with children, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to maintain required staff-to-child ratios.

This is an hourly, at-will, part-time (non-benefited) position offering paid training and valuable experience in youth development and public service.
 
Schedule

• Part to Full-day summer camp shifts

The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department is looking responsible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individuals to join our Aquatics Team!

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and able to obtain a work permit if under the age of 18. Candidates must complete and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification, by June 1, 2026. While not required, Water Safety Instruction (WSI) certification is highly desirable.

Lifeguard Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure Patron Safety: The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to protect lives by preventing injuries and accidents. This includes remaining alert and vigilant, actively monitoring the pool and surrounding areas, recognizing hazards early, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies—including water rescues, CPR, and first aid.
• Enforce Rules Consistently: Lifeguards help patrons stay safe by enforcing facility rules fairly and consistently. This involves monitoring behavior, addressing unsafe actions, and educating patrons about safe practices.
• Maintain a Clean and Safe Facility: Lifeguards assist with daily maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. Tasks may include checking and recording chemical levels, organizing and inspecting equipment (including rescue buoy, Shepard's hook, First Aid pack, etc...), picking up trash and debris, and reporting or addressing unsafe facility conditions.
• Availability: Ability to work a minimum 25 hours a week from June 15th – August 9th, including some weekends. Pre-planned and approved vacation requests may be accommodated.

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities:

• Provide Instruction Across Levels: Teach swim lesson participants across a range of skill levels, following established curriculum and safety standards.
• Ensure Participant Safety: Maintain constant awareness and create a safe learning environment for all participants within your class.
• Maintain Professional Class Operations: Arrive prepared and work all scheduled hours, begin and end classes on time, stay afterward to answer participant or parent questions, and ensure all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned.

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety. Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This is a per-diem position. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, and per-diem employees may choose the open shifts that are available. Available shifts may include day, swing, or graveyard hours, including weekends, and holidays. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions. This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department. 

Examples of Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

Supplemental Information

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, with the exception of paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

The City of Burlingame is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Mechanic.

Under general supervision, performing skilled minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive and other power-driven equipment; and doing related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Equipment Mechanic is  responsible for the daily operation of the maintenance shop and maintenance of City vehicles and Parks construction equipment. Incumbents perform skilled and semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks and provide direction to work crews as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives general supervision from the Parks Supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but are not limited to the following)

• Determines vehicles due for dealer repair and warranty service, and schedules such work.
• Performs equipment inspections, adjustments, and certifications.
• Overhauls, repairs, and adjusts engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches.
• Tunes engines, replaces ignition parts, and cleans and adjusts carburetors.
• Replaces or repairs faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts and equipment.
• Replaces such components as generators, distributors, relays, lights, and switches.
• Performs welding in the repair of equipment.
• Maintains accurate and efficient inventory of parts. Electronically updates and maintains accurate equipment asset inventory system.
• Maintains records of time and materials.
• Confers with departments regarding immediate repair needs and organizes future repair schedules. 
• Maintains the shop in a clean, organized, safe, and orderly manner.
• Ensures compliance with shop safety rules and conducts safety meetings.
• Assumes responsibility of the garage in the absence of the supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
