The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications to fill a Mechanic vacancy in the Fleet Services Section of the Public Works Department. A Mechanic performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair services on light and heavy city vehicles and equipment, such as automobiles, storm/sewer trucks, aerial bucket trucks, dump trucks shuttle buses, construction equipment, lawn mowers, small equipment and stationary generators; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level or advanced journey-level class mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported by supervisory review and direction.

Equipment Mechanic

This is the journey-level class in the Equipment Mechanic classification series responsible for performing the full range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, gasoline and diesel repair and maintenance required for City vehicles, and equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from other maintenance class series in that it performs more highly skilled technical and mechanical maintenance activities. This class is distinguished from Senior Equipment Mechanic in that the latter leads, trains, and oversees assigned work and performs the more complex and difficult work in mechanical maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment.

Senior Equipment Mechanic

This is the advanced journey-level class in the equipment mechanic classification series performing the most complex duties required to ensure that City vehicles and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for City use, and providing lead direction and training to full-time and temporary staff. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned section. The work involves problem-solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent and/or structure. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products. Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. This classification is distinguished from the Fleet Supervisor in that the latter has oversight of the entire fleet division, system- assignments and projects, and responsibility for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned staff involved in maintenance operations.

About the role:                                                                                    

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Special Events and Cultural Arts is responsible for leading the planning, production, and oversight of the City’s signature special events, while also supporting Redwood City’s cultural arts programming. From large-scale downtown festivals and concerts to cultural celebrations, family events, and community gatherings featured on www.RedwoodCityEvents.com, this position helps ensure that our parks, plazas, and public spaces remain active, welcoming, and full of life.

This role oversees the full lifecycle of major community events, including concept development, budgeting, sponsorship coordination, vendor and performer booking, permitting, logistics, safety planning, marketing coordination, and on-site production. Signature events such as outdoor concert series, holiday celebrations, cultural festivals, movie nights, and destination activations require thoughtful coordination with Police, Fire, Public Works, Economic Development, and community partners. The Manager leads cross-departmental teams, supervises event staff, manages complex timelines, and ensures every event is inclusive, professionally executed, and reflective of Redwood City’s diverse and dynamic community.

In addition to overseeing special events, this role supports the City’s cultural arts programs and public art initiatives. Responsibilities include serving as staff liaison to the Arts Commission, supporting implementation of the Public Art Master Plan, assisting with Percent for Art ordinance compliance, coordinating with developers on qualifying projects, and helping maintain and promote the City’s growing public art collection.

More broadly, this position negotiates, prepares, and manages contracts and agreements with vendors, performers, artists, and community partners, while ensuring compliance with City policies and maintaining strong inter-agency collaboration.

DEFINITION
Under general direction, to supervise and review the work of the professional and
technical staff of a section of the Engineering Division engaged in preparing and/or
reviewing plans, specifications, designs, estimates, and inspections relating to private
development, capital improvement, construction, development, and maintenance
projects; to coordinate the work of the section with that of the Engineering Division and
the Public Works Department; and to perform complex engineering design, construction
inspection, contract administration, and related work as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provide engineering consultation services to various field and office personnel; design
and/or manage/oversee design and construction contracts on City's capital improvement
projects; review architectural, development and/or engineering maps, plans,
specifications, designs, and cost estimates, and provide recommendations on the
feasibility of bidding and constructing various construction or maintenance projects
prepared in-house or by consultants; administer contracts and inspect construction to
insure technical and legal compliance; plan, organize, and coordinate assigned work with
other City departments and outside agencies, consultants, and contractors; prepare or
direct project-related studies, reports, and correspondence for City administrators,
officials, and citizens; research and prepare Issue Statements on various policy
questions; assist with preparation of annual division budget; review, revise and maintain

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of civil engineering design and construction;
principles and techniques of management and supervision including planning, organizing, and developing goals and objectives; principles and practices of design administration including computer aided design (CAD); theories, techniques, materials and equipment used in construction and maintenance of municipal Public Works improvements; legal issues, including liability laws, relating to municipal construction and civil engineering. Private development review/entitlement process and subdivision map act requirements.

Ability to: Demonstrate skill and/or acquire current knowledge in organizing, managing,
supervising and evaluating the work of professional and technical engineering personnel; employ City administrative, budgeting, purchasing, personnel management and other related processes and procedures to assist in managing the division; prepare or direct the preparation of complex plans, specifications, and legal contracts; conduct contract negotiations for City projects; demonstrate clear and effective oral communication; prepare clear and concise correspondence, reports and other written documents; interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis. Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in design and construction management of civil engineering projects, with at least two of the five years at a level equivalent to a City of Daly City Civil Engineering Associate.

License: California registration as a professional Civil Engineer and a valid Class C California Driver's License.

GENERAL INFO  

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II positions provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program and administration support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. Under general direction of the Director of Public Works, plans, directs and supervises all

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Engineering principles and practices applicable to municipal public
works, including the design, construction, and maintenance requirements of public works projects; use of construction materials; provisions of the Public Contract Code,
Subdivision Map Act, construction safety regulations and other State and Federal regulations related to public works; the use of computers and automated devices for
managing information and other engineering applications.

Ability to: Supervise, manage and perform difficult and complex professional
engineering assignments; plan, layout, coordinate, and control through subordinates the
work of engineering design, review and inspection; comprehend and prepare complex
technical reports; establish cooperative and effective working relationships with
subordinates, employees, City officials, the general public, and other agencies; develop

License: Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by
the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, or the ability to
attain a Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer within six months of appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Redwood City Fire Department is seeking individuals for the position of Cadet Firefighter. The Cadet Firefighter Program is designed to allow students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of fire department operations. Fire Department Cadets spend a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 96 hours per month at the firehouse, participating in calls for service, station duties, and training. Cadets will also be expected to attend department-sponsored community functions outside of their 96-hour monthly commitment. Though the goal is to immerse the cadet into all aspects of fire department life, they are not allowed to participate in situations deemed Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH).

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety. Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This is a per-diem position. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, and per-diem employees may choose the open shifts that are available. Available shifts may include day, swing, or graveyard hours, including weekends, and holidays. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions. This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department. 

Examples of Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: process warrants; assist in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.

Supplemental Information

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, with the exception of paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

GENERAL INFO 

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.  
 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment. 

• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas. 

• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms. 

• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements. 

• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep. 

• Enforce policies, maintain discipline, and provide customer service to patrons. 

• Monitor and report facility issues and potential hazards. 

• Assist with special events and activities as needed. 

• Respond to and resolve patron inquiries and complaints. 

• Participate in safety training and emergency procedures. 

• Monitor facility rentals and provide customer service as needed. 

• Lift and move, routinely and regularly, up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving over 60 pounds. Duties also include repetitive pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing, lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and maintaining good vision and hearing.

CAMP COUNSELOR LEAD (Illustrative purposes only) 

• Oversee and guide program staff in their daily duties, ensuring high standards of supervision, engagement, and participant safety. 
• Assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling program activities to create a balanced and enjoyable experience.
• Address behavioral issues and manage group dynamics and foster a positive environment for participants and staff.
• Enforce safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and monitor the physical and emotional well-being of all participants. 
• Serve as a liaison between camp counselors/program staff, families, and City Staff, addressing concerns and maintaining effective communication. 
• Oversee staff tasks, support logistical operations, and ensure adherence to camp policies, health, and safety regulations.
• Model positive behavior, establish rapport with families, and maintain accurate program records. 
• Mediate participant disputes, assist camp counselors/program staff with behavior management, and provide ongoing support and assistance to staff, participants, and volunteers. 
• Communicate program updates and recommend improvements for materials and equipment.
• Ensure familiarity with and readiness for all emergency procedures and other tasks as directed by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Two years of customer service or service in the recreation industry experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to obtain a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

FACILITY ATTENDANT LEAD (Illustrative purposes only)

• Greet patrons, and provide information on programs, rentals, schedules, rules, and policies.

SERVICE DESK LEAD (Illustrative purposes only)

• Greet patrons, answer and direct calls, and provide information on programs, rentals, schedules, rules, and policies. 
• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use. 
• Check daily facility schedules and rental setup requirements.
• Use computer systems for data entry.
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.
• Handle office tasks including mail distribution, shipments, and deliveries.
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.
• Assist facility attendants and recreation programs as needed.

The City of Brisbane is seeking a Financial Services Manager to join our dynamic finance team. Under general direction of the Finance Director, provides supervision to the Finance staff and performs a wide range of complex professional accounting duties in the analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports; makes complex and difficult account analyses and reports; develops, implements and revises accounting systems, procedures and internal controls; coordinates the outside audit preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report; coordinates various automated accounting systems and modules and trains accounting staff in the use of such systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position class is at the management level and performs diverse and specialized accounting work that is complex and involves significant accountability and decision-making responsibility. The Financial Services Manager is responsible for supervising accounting staff and managing areas such as payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, grant accounting, capital project accounting, fixed asset accounting, enterprise fund accounting, and other accounting-related activities for all City funds.

• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Finance department.
• Manages the timely and accurate preparation of budgeting documents and financial reports, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and participates as an active member of the Budget Team.
• Prepares complex journal entries and reviews and approves financial transactions, including journal entries, accounts payable invoices, revenue collection, accounts receivable billing, payroll postings, and purchasing documents.
