The Assistant or Associate Planner will focus on current planning and will also have opportunities to work on advance planning and policy development. The Community Development leadership team is committed to providing training and growth opportunities for staff. This position will be filled at the Assistant Planner or Associate Planner level dependent on candidate qualifications.

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties, and perform other related duties as required. This recruitment is to fill a full-time and per-diem position and create a list for anticipated future vacancies. We will be creating two lists, one for already POST-certified dispatchers and one for entry-level dispatchers.

The City of Foster City is looking for a Parks Maintenance Worker I who is able to demonstrate competency and increasing independence, knowledge and ability in performing routine and special assignments in a variety of maintenance program areas in the Parks Maintenance Division. This position performs routine and standardized tasks and duties. This is a full-time entry-level position. 

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of advance methods, materials, terminology and safe work practices of parks maintenance, construction maintenance equipment and tools, gardening and landscaping, and pesticide application. They will have experience safely operating a variety of tools and equipment and performing physical tasks for long periods of time. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, be an active listener able to understand and communicate verbal and written instructions and directions an establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others. Ability to respond courteously to public inquiries and effectively interact with a variety or customers is also expected.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, construction, or grounds keeping or completion of high school or the equivalent.

Experience: One year of full-time experience in general maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping.

Please note that this is a flexibly staffed position intended to be filled at the entry level Parks Maintenance Worker I position. The higher level Parks Maintenance Worker II position may be offered at management's discretion. 

Licenses, Certificates, Registration
Licenses:  Possession of a valid California Class "C" and Class "B" Driver's License. Must obtain valid California Class “B” Driver’s License within six months of appointment.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 50%), practical exercise (weighted 50%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Parks department will make the hiring decision.

Expected Dates for Examinations (subject to change):
Oral Panel Interview: Week of March 9 (exact date TBD)
Department Interview: Week of March 16 (exact date TBD)

Note: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee that a candidate will be invited to participate in the selection process. The City of Foster City reserves the right, at its discretion, to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to the selection process.
