Per Diem Dispatchers will provide public safety dispatching at Levi's Stadium and/or Santa Clara Police/Fire Communications.

 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

• Coordinates emergency operations between various departmental personnel and equipment

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED

 

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

• The equivalent of two (2) years of paid employment experience in public safety dispatching within the past five (5) years of which at least one (1) year included solo status; or
• Five (5) years of current paid employment with a public safety agency or private emergency medical services agency, with high level Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio and/or telephone operation; or
• Successful completion of probationary period as a Public Safety Dispatcher I with the City of Santa Clara.

 

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a current P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatch certificate is required.

 

Other Requirements:  

• Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, on schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.  All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and/or psychological testing.

• Participates in field survey activities such as assisting with measuring and recording distances and elevation using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment
• Prepares maps and drawings using geographic information system (GIS) tools to place symbols and apply color codes for the identification of facilities

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited junior college with an Associate of Arts degree or higher in engineering or its equivalent, including satisfactory completion of college level courses in writing, mathematics, engineering and related courses; and
• One (1) year working with geographic information system (GIS) tools and systems or one (1) year working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD).
 
Desirable Qualifications:
• One year (1) experience working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD) and one year (1) experience working with geographic information system (GIS).
• Completion of courses in GIS and AUTOCAD.
 
Possible Substitutions:
• Three (3) years of work experience performing mapping/drafting activities of electric utility facilities, involving the use of CAD and GIS systems and tools may substitute for the required education and experience.
 
LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Engineer (Electrical), Transit Division - SF Municipal Transportation Agency (5241)

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation in the City. The SFMTA has oversight over the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, as well as bicycling, paratransit, parking, traffic, walking, and taxis.

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). The Program Delivery and Support Unit within the Transit Division was created in 2018 to oversee capital program and project budgets, manage vehicle and onboard equipment projects, testing and acceptance of rolling stock and technology projects. These projects will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions which improve safety and the Agency’s ability to deliver quality transit service. Within the Program Delivery and Support unit, the Transit Technology Group handles the delivery, acceptance, and management of technology systems which are critical to transit operations.

The Train Control Upgrade Project is an 8-year, multimillion dollar project with the goal of modernizing the existing Automatic Train Control System in Muni’s subway as well as expanding the supervision and limited control aspects of a Communication-Based Train Control System to the entire Muni light rail system.

Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will lead the integration of the new train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will be responsible for the successful design, fitment, and testing of all onboard equipment necessary to fully install the system on the LRV4 fleet and will represent the SFMTA in all project review and discussion related to onboard equipment installation.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will coordinate the design activities related to onboard vehicle equipment between the supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will work closely with these three parties to ensure that the delivery and installation of onboard train control equipment is completed according to the project schedule. The position will participate in the development of an installation plan to facilitate this process and assist with the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and development of project staff, as it relates to the installation of the system on the LRV4 fleet.

In addition, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will act as the SFMTA representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, project submittals and deliverables provided by the supplier and other project contractors as it relates to the installation of onboard equipment. As the SFMTA representative, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties:

• Oversees the successful integration of the train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles, including design, fitment, and testing.
• Leads a team of SFMTA vehicle engineers assigned to the project.
• Coordinates the design activities of the Train Control System Supplier with the car manufacturer (Siemens) and the vehicle onboard equipment installer.
• Represents SFMTA during technical discussions between the Train Control System Supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer.
• Responds to technical RFIs, resolves clarifications from vendors and addresses their requests by issuing addendums.
• Reviews all technical documents and correspondence from the Train Control System Supplier, the car manufacturer, and other project contractors.
• With the train control system supplier, develops and manages the migration and installation plan for equipping the entire LRV4 fleet with train control system equipment.
• Works with Rail Maintenance and SFMTA staff at the transit yards to coordinate and schedule work activities by the onboard equipment installer for fitting of equipment on the vehicles.
• Supervises the testing of train control system equipment on the vehicles and assists the project QA team in assessing the quality of installed components.
• Tracks completion of technical requirements and evaluates the system and individual subsystems and components for acceptance.
• Analyzes and solves electrical and vehicle sub-systems problems such as power, EMI connectivity, and fitment for onboard train control system components.
• Analyzes related project workloads and budgets.
• Communicates with Train Control System Supplier for technical support as needed to address system issues under warranty.
• Works with Supplier, SFMTA operations and maintenance staff to ensure both the designed and finished onboard train control system meets operations and maintenance needs and works within their stated constraints.
• Participates in the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and counseling of project staff.
• Reviews and manages workload assignment to consultants, junior staff and interns as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Five (5) years of verifiable professional electrical engineering experience, which includes two (2) years experience equivalent to City and County of San Francisco class 5207 Associate Engineer as a licensed Professional Engineer in the specialty you are applying for; AND
2. Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Electrical Engineering.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the 8562 Counselor, Juvenile Hall, is responsible for the care, custody, safety and welfare of juveniles detained at Juvenile Hall.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to: 

1. Observes behavior of detainees in an assigned living unit; directs detainees in the upkeep of personal hygiene, during mealtimes, and while cleaning the unit; maintains appropriate close supervision over detainees to prevent negative incidents; provides appropriate discipline; consults with supervisors regarding disciplinary problems; conducts regular state mandated security checks of rooms; monitors visiting sessions to ensure the safety and security of detainees and counselors.

2. Inspects windows, locks doors when not in use, and keeps count of all detainees assigned to the unit; administers emergency first aid pending the arrival of medical staff; responds to emergency conditions which may require physically subduing and restraining hostile detainees to ensure the safety and security of the unit and the facilities.

3. Completes incident reports, behavior reports, individual case reports, and other departmental forms and reports; maintains the unit log book to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Maintains and updates electronic databases and case management systems.

4. Conducts ongoing individual and group counseling sessions with detainees by communicating rules, policies, expectations, and consequences; listens and responds to questions, concerns, complaints, and requests; provides assistance in working out problems to assist detainees.

5. Directs leisure time activities; teaches and encourages good sportsmanship.

6. Transports residents to and from various locations; directs and controls residents’ movement to ensure the safety and security of the residents.

7. Facilitates the admittance and release process of residents.

8. Confers with departmental personnel and representatives of outside agencies.

Qualifications

Education:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver license.
Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Substitution:
Experience as a counselor in a juvenile detention facility or experience involving the organization, detention, or suspension of youth groups in a recreational or correctional program may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. The Position:
Providing customer service at Recreation Facility Front Desk (CRC, YAC, Senior Center, Reed & Grant Sports Park, Warburton and ISC Pools). The job responsibilities include data input, processing program registrations, opening and closing the desk reception area and keeping accurate records of daily sales. Daily check in of patrons, adhering to established protocols and ensuring the safety of customers as they enter and exit the facilities. Work assignment shifts will include, days, evenings and weekends.

The Recreation Office Assistant has an emphasis on performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties at a recreation facility.  An incumbent in this classification is responsible for demonstrating a high level of customer service while performing basic clerical duties including financial transactions, maintaining documents, and assisting others.  Assignments are generally limited in scope, contain fairly routine duties, and are performed within a procedural framework established by higher-level employees.
