Job Description

Under general direction, the Waterfront Property Manager implements programs for management and leasing of Port land and buildings for retail, commercial, office and industrial uses.  Responsibilities include an assignment that focuses   on a combination of property management, leasing and occasional special events coordination.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Ensures lease compliance, regularly inspecting leased areas to determine if property is maintained in accordance with the lease and inspects vacant spaces to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Negotiates lease, lease renewals, license agreements, Memorandum of Understanding and permits with prospective and current tenants in accordance with established Port policies and practices, legal and regulatory restrictions and market conditions to maximize the potential revenue of the Port.
• Drafts leases, license agreements and other documents in accordance with established policies and practices for the review and approval of Port management and legal counsel.
• Responds to requests from tenants and members of the public for maintenance, repairs, improvements and modifications, establishing cooperative relationships with Port’s neighbors and tenants while protecting the Port’s interests.
• Initiates work requests for repairs and improvements for both leased and unleased property with the Port’s Maintenance Department. 
• Reviews the aging report and tenant ledgers with the Collections Officer to analyze and reconcile tenant accounts.  Position requires the negotiation of payment plans and settlement agreements, drafting default and 3-day notices, and preparation of forms to correct and initiate billing.
• On behalf of Port Real Estate, review and provide comments on plans submitted for building permits, acting as a liaison between tenants and Port building and fire inspectors.
• Conducts market and feasibility studies related to marketing operations of retail, commercial and industrial property to provide current information to be used in management’s evaluation and appraisal of proposed projects.
• Abstracts lease agreements to document key lease provisions.
• Documents tenant-related matters to include incidents, agreements, and understandings, to ensure accurate records and effective communication.
• Assists the Special Event Coordinator with assessing potential impacts of certain events on Port facilities and tenants.  Communicates with Port tenants and other external stakeholders on potential impacts such as street closures or restricted access to Port facilities.
• Responds to complaints regarding the facilities, noise, traffic, trash, etc. 
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Full-Time Head Preschool Teacher at Belmont Community Learning Center

$59,475.84 -$72,293.28 annually

In this full-time role, you’ll be the lead for our 2–3-year-old classroom, helping our youngest learners grow through play, learning, and exploration. You’ll create a safe and engaging space, support toilet training and diapering, and build meaningful connections with children and families. Depending on program needs, your work hours will be either 7:30 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.

What We’re Looking For:

You’re someone who understands:

• Child development milestones, especially for ages 2–5

• Title 22 California Childcare Licensing regulations

• Basic health, hygiene, and first aid practices for preschoolers

What You’ll Do:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Town of Atherton invites you to apply for the position of Associate Engineer in the Public Works Department. The position, general supervision, performs various professional field and office engineering work related to the management, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the Town’s public works infrastructure, associated with the Capital Improvement Program (CIP); provides project management oversight, coordination and administration; conducts development plan reviews and inspections; confers with developers, contractors, and representatives of other agencies regarding facility and infrastructure development and maintenance; administers professional services and construction contracts; provides professional staff assistance to the Director of Public Works, other departments, and the public in areas of expertise; performs a variety of studies and prepares and presents staff reports; and assist in the development of the Department budget and monitors revenue and expense budgets on an ongoing basis.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Plans, manages, designs, and inspects all phases of civil engineering public works construction projects, including defining the scope of the project; coordinating with permitting and public utility agencies; applying engineering principles and practices to specific problems; coordinating construction schedules with other projects and agencies; preparing and reviewing cost estimates; and inspecting construction of projects to ensure compliance with construction documents; performs related planning and design work.
• Review of proposed private development projects; including issues related to public works, hydrology, grading, scheduling, traffic control, and erosion; prepares public works conditions of approval for proposed development.
• Reviews construction plans prepared by consulting engineers and private contractors; checks plans for conformance with regulations; reviews engineering calculations; participates in pre-design, construction, and coordination meetings and issues construction permits.
• Develops consultant requests for proposal for professional and/or construction services and the advertising and bid processes; evaluates proposals and recommends project award; administers contracts after award; ensures contractor compliance with Town standards and specifications, time and budget estimates; analyzes and resolves complex problems that may arise; recommends and approves field changes as required.
• Monitors and pursues grant opportunities for improvements in public works programs.
• Participates in the development of the Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
• Participates in the San Mateo County Cleanwater Program and assists with compliance and reporting associated with the Municipal Regional (NPDES) Stormwater Permit.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of:

• Civil engineering principles, techniques, policies, and procedures,
• Principles and practices of capital improvement program budgeting, cost estimation, funding, project management, and contract administration,
• Basic principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to Town public works infrastructure development and maintenance, engineering, and surveying
• Practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting effective staff reports

Skills and Ability to:

• Prepare, understand, and interpret engineering construction plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Assist in and develop and administer contracts for professional services and construction in a public agency setting.
• Effectively represent the department and the Town in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, and regulatory organizations and individuals.
• Prepare and present clear, concise, and logical written and oral reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, legal descriptions, and other written materials.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with municipal officials, subordinate employees, contractors and the general public

Applications are being accepted for the position of Engineering Intern with the City of South San Francisco’s Public Works Department - Engineering Division. This is a non-benefited, part-time hourly/temporary position.

THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs sub-professional engineering office work to assist the Public Works Engineering Division teams on programs and projects that may include engineering permits, land development plan checks, procedural and standards research and development, record and asset management, traffic research and field crew assistance.
 

IDEAL CANDIDATE SECTION

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in basic engineering principles and demonstrate proficiency in modern drafting and design practices. They should be familiar with engineering office tools and computer-aided drafting software such as AutoCAD, as well as design and GIS mapping systems.

We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, adaptable, and self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate should be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

The ideal candidate will have willingness to learn about construction management and inspection procedures and the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and drafting work. They should be capable of collecting and recording engineering field data with a high level of detail and maintaining thorough documentation. Proficiency in modern office software tools, including PowerPoint, to create professional presentations is essential. The candidate must be able to prepare clear and concise written correspondence, including responses to public inquiries, and demonstrate the ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors and the public are important. Flexibility to work varied hours as needed to meet project demands is also required.

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Performs a wide variety of responsible sub-professional engineering work including assisting engineering staff with general clerical, administrative, and technical tasks for public works projects
• Performs electronic document filing, enters data and creates reports in various software applications
• Conducts internet research and research of engineering record archives
• Processes permits and reviews land development plans
• Assists with Traffic Advisory Committee tasks
• Assists with internal and external communications and public outreach
• Learns to assist with engineering plan reviews and traffic control plans
• Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: None

Education: Current student enrolled in a university/college pursuing an undergraduate degree (Junior or Senior) or graduate degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil Engineering. 

Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License is required.
