The Case Management Nurse -Utilization Review will manage patient admission and ongoing stay reviews for patients with chronic or complicated medical conditions and oversee appeals with third-party payors. The incumbent will be responsible for retrospective and concurrent Utilization Review activities and for monitoring order status accuracy, documentation, and clinical compliance, in accordance with State and Federal regulations. In conjunction with other members of the health care team, the Case Management Nurse is accountable for timely coordination of quality health care services to meet the patient's health care needs across the continuum of care. This position requires knowledge of the adult, and geriatric populations.
 
The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following:

• At least two years of recent, direct, and proven experience in Nurse Case Management in an acute care setting or at least two years of acute care hospital nursing experience. 
• At least two years of experience with industry published standard level of care (i.e. InterQual or Milliman, etc.).
• InterQual interpretation and application of health industry utilization review criteria
• Experience providing the full range of Case Management nursing duties and responsibilities
• Ability to conduct daily Utilization Reviews to assess whether patients meet medical necessity criteria
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to collaborate on appropriate level of care based on Utilization Review outcomes
• A Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
• Experience working with diverse, underserved populations.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Identify problem situations or patient care issues; analyze, interpret, advise and consult with staff and other health care professionals to ensure patient order status reflects the correct level of care. 
• Conduct daily Utilization Reviews to assess whether patient meets medical necessity criteria.  Collaborate with the Clinical Services Manager II and Physician Advisor to support accurate determinations.
• Communicate utilization review findings to the Attending Provider when patients do not meet medical necessity criteria  
• Partner with the Attending Provider to review and determine the appropriate level of care based on Utilization Review outcomes.
• Interpret and modify the system of patient care delivered by evaluating and reviewing standard practices and initiating new procedures.
• Provide consultation and guidance to providers to understand and ensure appropriate care is provided based on patient level of care needs.
• Advise the nursing staff in the establishment and maintenance of records of treatments given and the related progress of each patient for the purpose of analyzing patterns, synthesizing actions and evaluating patient care plans. 
• Resolve unusual or unique patient care problems or situations, which require analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking.
• Formulate and develop plans, procedures and program content designed to meet specifically identified training/educational needs of nursing staff.
• Formulate, and/or collaborate with other health care practitioners to identify relevant clinical problems and conduct research to bring about their resolution. 
• Evaluate nursing research literature and own research findings for implementation and incorporation as appropriate, into patient care activities. 
• Serve as role model and resource person for staff and members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: 

• Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse.

Case Management Nurse 
Must have knowledge of and verifiable experience in initiating and coordinating complex discharge plans, appeals for acute days and clinical denials and criteria for lower-level license care. If designated for acute in-patient psychiatry, candidate must have knowledge and verifiable experience in psychiatric patient treatment trajectory and the respective utilization review criteria.

The San Mateo County Controller's Office is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Application Support Analyst III.

The Controller’s Office

The mission of the Controller’s Office of San Mateo County is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.
   
The Controller's Office maintains the County’s accounting system and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports (ACFR and PAFR) that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. We are staffed with 51 full-time accounting, audit, and information systems professionals. The office also calculates annual property tax bill amounts, distribute taxes collected to local government agencies, and performs internal audits of the County’s operations.
  
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Controller’s Information Systems (CIS) team to support various mission-critical applications for the County as they pertain to finance, expense reimbursements, timekeeping, as well as support Countywide system integrations.  
  
As an Application Support Analyst III, you will leverage your systems expertise to collaborate and consult with colleagues within the Controller’s Office and other County fiscal and/or technical staff and resolve issues related to the systems, improve business processes by recommending and implementing solutions within the systems, process requests such as report and integrations development, and maintain application security at both an authentication and application access level.  
  
This role will entail hands-on support, administration, configuration, and maintenance of multiple related financial systems, including Finance Enterprise by CentralSquare for general accounting, Coupa for accounts payable and vendor onboarding, and Workday Expense for employee expense reimbursements.  
 
While the ideal candidate has experience in all of these systems, we are also accepting candidates who have experience and expertise in at least one of the aforementioned systems but can demonstrate transferable skills to learn the other systems and applications.
   

The ideal candidate will also have:

• 5+ years of proven application support and administration experience, preferably in Finance Enterprise, Coupa, and/or Workday Expense.
• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, or an equivalent field of study is preferred.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end small to medium-sized application projects and implementing solutions for operational improvements and automation.
• Knowledge of VB Script, SQL, and Cognos (or other reporting platform).

Physical Demands

San Mateo Medical Center is currently seeking a professional, goal-oriented full-time, regular (benefited) Clinical Services Manager I who will plan, organize, direct, and supervise the operations of our Medical-Surgical (ADC of 35), Intensive Care Unit (ADC 4), and Infusion Center. As Clinical Services Manager I, you will have the opportunity to manage patient care while ensuring appropriate quality of care and compliance with regulations. In addition, you will participate in training, coaching, and counseling activities and perform other assigned duties.

The Clinical Services Manager I will receive direction from the Chief Nursing Officer/Deputy Director and will exercise direct and indirect supervision over professional, clinical, technical, and clerical staff, including consultants and contract service providers. You will join a dynamic team of professionals committed to the mission of our safety net hospital.

This role oversees a large, complex span of control across multiple service lines and requires the ability to manage high-volume operations, competing priorities, and diverse clinical environments simultaneously. The Clinical Services Manager I is expected to operate with a high level of autonomy, making sound operational and staffing decisions while balancing quality, patient safety, and fiscal stewardship. The position requires strong experience in managing large teams, coordinating across departments, and ensuring alignment of day-to-day operations with organizational goals.

This role is grounded in a culture of continuous improvement, where leaders are expected to actively identify opportunities, lead improvement efforts, and embed sustainable changes into daily operations.

The ideal candidate will:

• Possess a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with certification in a specialty
• Have three years of progressive management/supervisory experience in an accredited hospital or clinic

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is;

• Three years of professional nursing experience in an accredited hospital or clinic, of which at least one year included responsible supervisory experience, unless otherwise specified below in the additional qualifications.
• Two years of the required experience must have been in acute care and surgical nursing and includes experience in infusion, including chemotherapy, telemetry, antibiotics, blood transfusions and pediatrics.

What You’ll Do

The Senior Instrument Control Technician installs, maintains, calibrates, tests and repairs a variety of data acquisition, radio communications, and instrumentation and control equipment for wastewater collection and treatment plant systems; principal oversight of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) computer systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC); assists in the oversight of the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); performs highly skilled electrical, electronic and mechanical work related to in-plant metering equipment and remote controlled devices; operates, monitors, and controls an advanced wastewater treatment (tertiary) system; and performs other related work as required.

Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in the installation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic and electromechanical equipment to ensure proper operation; assist in the troubleshooting and repairing of control system and electrical power failures in the WWTP, pump and lift station.
• Install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electronic and electromechanical equipment to ensure proper operation; maintain and troubleshoot computerized process control equipment such as PLCs, RTUs, and SCADA system devices; troubleshoot control system and electrical power system failures in plants, lifts and pump stations; and maintain awareness of new related technology.
• Develops and implements improvement projects for the instrumentation and controls systems and equipment by contractors or in-house staff. Clean, oil and paint equipment.
• Maintain documentation and records for the department’s SCADA system and instrumentation/control systems at the wastewater treatment plant (schematics, licenses, etc.).  Perform regular technical programming of the SCADA system to provide programming and troubleshooting assistance as needed during special testing and operations. Confer with operators, mechanics, project engineers and supervisors regarding SCADA issues.
• Respond to and resolve internal customer complaints and issues; provide documentation as required. Communicate in advance with affected staff on programming and related SCADA work.
• Provide oversight, technical support, inspection and coordination over control system modification made by contractors. Maintain documentation and plans of modifications.
• Prepare reports on technical issues as required.
• Develop, implement, and maintain procedures for documenting activities in instrumentation and control areas related to programming of RTUs and HMI software, field implementation of programming change, and process control improvements.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision of the Code Enforcement Officer, the Code Enforcement Inspector facilitates compliance with City Municipal codes, ordinances, California Codes, conditions of approval and resolutions relating to public nuisances, planning, zoning, construction, business licensing, animal control and other associated disciplines. Works collaboratively with other City Divisions and Agencies and actively participates as a member of the Code Enforcement Task Force. Tracks, updates and maintains investigations, complaint information and official records. Attends training to maintain or achieve Code Enforcement Officer Certification. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

 

Investigate reported or suspected violations of City or California codes, and implement enforcement activities to gain compliance. Issue written notices and warnings, and criminal citations. Educate the public regarding code requirements. Conduct field inspections, gather-supporting evidence, maintain case files (both computer and hard files) and, as necessary, prepare investigation reports regarding violations. May assist in preparing and presenting information to the Planning Commission, City Council, Administrative Hearing Board and courts of law. Participate in and often coordinate joint code enforcement activities with other agencies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of: Basic code enforcement and investigation techniques; common California Codes relating to property maintenance, municipal codes, ordinances and resolutions related to public nuisances, planning and zoning. Effective and efficient techniques of public education, field inspections for code compliance, gathering and analyzing evidence and data, and preparing and presenting reports.

Ability to: Read, understand, interpret and apply laws, regulations, ordinances, resolutions, policies and other documents associated with enforcement duties. Maintain a positive attitude and work as a highly effective team member of the Code Enforcement Program, Economic and Community Development Department and the Code Enforcement Task Force. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Prepare and make verbal presentations to small and large groups, the Administrative Hearing Board and other official bodies. Prepare factually clear, concise and complete written reports and correspondence. Exercise good customer service skills with the public, outside agencies and staff. Education: Possession of an AA degree in a related field. Additional education and training in writing, public speaking and areas related to code enforcement are desirable.

 

Experience: A minimum of one year of full-time, relevant public contact experience, with occasional public speaking, requiring problem solving and/or field investigation in code enforcement, law enforcement, investigations, or a comparable field that would provide the requisite knowledge needed to succeed in this position. Experience in the enforcement of municipal, planning and zoning codes and working with building or planning permits at a public or private agency is desirable.

 

Certifications: Possess, or obtain within 12 months from hire date, current certification as a Code Enforcement Officer from the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO); or certification as a Housing Inspector from the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO- through the American Association of Code Enforcement). •    Lubricates, services, and performs minor repairs to a wide variety of machinery and equipment, including portable and stationary air compressors, front end loaders, tractors, standby generators, travelling scaffolds, high pressure pumps, sandblasting equipment, fog horns, air powered lifts, air receiver tanks, air tools, air and electric winches, paint spray equipment, permanent bridge air lines, and other machinery and equipment as required
•    Performs major rebuilding, repair, manufacturing and/or removal replacement of mechanical components on machinery and equipment, including engines, transmissions, gear boxes, planetary drives, clutches, differentials, torque converters, pumps, hydraulic systems, valves, electrical systems and associated parts
•    Operates and refuels portable air compressors, front end loaders, travelling scaffolds, air compressors and equipment and other machinery and equipment that the District owns or rents
•    Responsible for normal and reasonable care of all District owned property, equipment and tools provided.  Adheres to shop and equipment safety and housekeeping practices as required by District policy and agencies such as Cal OSHA and Industrial Safety
•    Assists in training apprentices
•    Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
•    Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service
•    Performs additional related duties as assigned
•    Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required
