The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Aquatic Instructors (Swim Instructors) for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for positive, patient, motivated, self-driven individuals that have a passion for working with children and wish to make a difference in a child's life by teaching them lifelong water skills! 

Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an in-person interview. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures. 

**No certifications or previous experience is required! Candidates must be comfortable in the water. Swim Instructor training will be provided once hired.**

• Applicants should be able to work at least 12-20 hours per week, year-round, including weekends and holidays, with mandatory trainings. 
• Summer Swim Lessons run on Monday-Thurday mornings (7:45 am – 12:00 pm), Monday-Thurday evenings (3:45 pm - 8:00 pm), and Saturday mornings (7:45 am- 12:00 pm). 
• Off-Season Swim Lessons run on Monday/Wednesday evenings (3:45 pm - 7:45 pm), Tuesday/Thursday evenings (3:45 pm - 7:45 pm), and Saturday mornings (7:45 am- 12:00 pm). 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, this position provides swim instruction to adults and children and conducts related work as required
• Swim Instructors teach, supervise, and assess students of all ages and abilities
• Teach group and private swim lessons to adults and children of all abilities
• Use proper teaching tools, equipment, and techniques while teaching swim lessons
• Maintain order and prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons in the pool area.

The City of Hayward is accepting application for Police Officer--Academy Graduates and Academy Participants. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to: patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. Those candidates who are currently participating in the Police Academy would be hired as a Police Officer Trainee ($5,837-$6,125). The Police Officer Trainee is hired into a civilian position for the period of time they are assigned to the police academy. DEFINITION 

Under general supervision, the Police Officer patrols the City's commercial, industrial, and residential districts; enforces laws and ordinances of the state of California and the city of Hayward, works closely with the community to preserve the peace and promote public safety; carefully documents own activities in written reports and statements; performs a wide variety of law enforcement assignments such as patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, radio communications, and administrative services; provides court testimony; investigates crimes such as burglary, robbery, assault, and disturbing the peace; assists firefighters and emergency medical technicians; and performs related duties as assigned.

Experience:  One (1) year in a law enforcement agency within the last thirty-six (36) months and possession of a current Basic California P.O.S.T Certificate.

Currently employed by a law enforcement agency and have successfully passed a field training officer (FTO) program, but have yet to complete probation.

Successful completion of a California Basic P.O.S.T approved academy certificate. Obtained within the past eighteen (18) months from date of application is desirable.
 
Education:  High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desirable.

- Free of any felony convictions.

- A citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship (Government Code Para. 1031).

The Coordinator is responsible for providing the highest quality of guest service to all visitors. The Coordinator will be responsible for administrative duties and assist at various City facilities, as assigned. In addition, the Coordinator will monitor facility rentals and support the special events. This is potentially a year around part time position.

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join the City of Live Oak as a Part-Time Recreation Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading recreational activities for community members of all ages. Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $18.52 - $30.68/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/ or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and/ or Senior Center. Incumbent serves as the facility receptionist, assisting with customer service-related questions and issues, and directing callers and visitors according to established procedures.
 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 0-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

Direct supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Recreation Superintendent. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Serve as first point of contact with the public; responds to information requests regarding services, classes, and events offered by the Town by email, in person or over the phone.
• Perform a wide variety of routine office duties to support department operations including filing, preparing basic reports, and program registration.
• Register participants, and support facility reservations using Active Net software.
• Performs cash handling duties, process payments, and issue receipts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the City of Berkeley Junior Public Works Engineer classification.
