The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help applications for the position of Correctional Technician within the Probation Department - Youth Detention Facilities and the Sheriff's Department - Jail Division. Working under general supervision, the Correctional Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring video and audio systems to maintain the safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff within the secure detention areas. Additional responsibilities include performing various technical and clerical tasks related to the intake and release process for the County's Jail system, and juveniles at the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center, inputting relevant data into the booking system, documenting inmate and juvenile observations, providing public reception, access, and assistance as required, and other related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Essential:

• Process paperwork provided by law enforcement officer or the courts for new inmates or youth; verify information on booking forms; obtain signatures; oversee telephone usage; obtain photographs; inventory and securely process property and money for safekeeping.
• Gather and enter inmate or youth information into computerized booking system; prepare and route computer-generated booking; complete files, logs, charts and other documents associated with jail or juvenile detention facility booking activities.
• Participate in monitoring safety and security of the staff, inmates, juveniles, visitors and facility; notify appropriate staff of any incidents, problems, or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and assess the behavior of inmates or youth from a control room; monitor radio communications; and operate intercom and electronic door controls in routine and emergency conditions.
• Process court paperwork, process discharge paperwork, and enter data into computer system.
• Update manual and automated inmate or youth records and tracking systems.
• Monitor inmates or youth on exercise yard from a controlled area; monitor and document inmates’ or youths’ recreational activities.
• Process and monitor visitors, ascertains nature of business, assist and/or direct visitors to appropriate person, observe visitation, report security violations.

The County of Glenn is seeking an Assistant Director of Public Works who is a strategic, collaborative, and confident leader with effective communication skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex engineering projects that provide essential services throughout Glenn County. Reporting directly to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director will serve as a project manager for a variety of public works and capital improvement projects, including the design and construction of roads, bridges and storm drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Director of Public Works; exercises direct supervision over professional engineering, technical engineering and clerical staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Plans, directs and coordinates staff work plan.

• Coordinates with other County departments on administrative and fiscal matters

• Participates on or serves as staff liaison to a variety of boards and commissions.

• Prepares division budget; assists in budget implementation; participates in the forecast of  additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; administers approved budget.

• Responds to public inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints related to assigned areas of responsibility.

• Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and  procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and reviews recommendations with the Director.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

The Marysville Police Department is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Civil Engineer in the Public Works Division of the Community Development and Services Agency. Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. This is the master level in the civil engineer series, and reports directly to Principal Engineer.

Examples of Duties:

• Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.
• Interpret and explain complex and technical laws, codes and regulations and provide information related to Public Works Engineering activities; may receive and respond to complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
• Initiate and maintain professional relationships with other departments, businesses, local community and professional organizations.
• Provide direction as a lead worker; expected to review the work of professional civil engineers and support staff to ensure compliance with established procedures related to design, construction and inspection of flood control, storm water management, water resources, bridges, parks, roads and other related projects as well as provide input on assigned staff performance to management; provide guidance to professional and technical staff.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Currently, there are two vacancies that may be filled at either the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level depending on qualifications. These classes are alternately staffed and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, required certifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications and expectations for the higher level class. The incumbent to this position will perform engineering work, including preparing design plans, specifications and engineering estimates related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure; project management; assist in developing and administering professional services or construction project contracts; review plans and inspect projects; collect and present data and prepare reports; provide information and advice to the public and perform related work as assigned. 

Assistant Engineer: is the entry level in the civil engineer series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents will provide assistance to management staff or higher level engineers in the areas of research, data collection, project administration, preparation of reports and preparation of engineering plans and specifications. Assignments are intended to provide background in the fundamental principles and practices of public service engineering.

Associate Engineer: is the journey level in the civil engineer series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently conduct design, research and construction project inspection and analyses for a variety of projects within the county. Responsibilities may also include providing work direction to technical support staff.

Associate Civil Engineer: is the advanced journey level in the civil engineering series. Under general direction, incumbents perform professional engineer work and prepare civil design plans for various Public Works projects; independently conduct engineering feasibility cost, research and design studies and construction project work; analyses for varied department and agency projects and functions; signing off designs and as-built changes related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure and perform related duties as assigned.
