A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports. Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; 2 years general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net). Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. Willingness to work varying shifts and radio dispatching skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary: $6,987 to $9,050 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.
• Medical Benefits: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) has an excellent career opportunity for an experienced and motivated Area Manager who will plan, organize, manage, oversee, and participate in all activities of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department. This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and oversees 19 staff with four direct reports and seasonal employees. This position will be assigned to the Skyline Area of the District. The Area Manager primarily works in a field office setting, and will attend various meetings and visit District field sites, which may require hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas and driving in remote areas on dirt roads.  General responsibilities include oversight, coordination, and reviews of staff performing maintenance and repair of Midpen’s lands. About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will coordinate  and oversee Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide range  of maintenance and repair tasks. Successful performance in this role requires broad  knowledge of facility maintenance trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to effectively collaborate  with other Midpen departments. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. Education and Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management or a related field or training in applicable trades, and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction trades is highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

THE POSITION:  This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer.  A Police Officer Trainee is hired into this civilian position for the period prior to and during the time they are assigned to a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy.  The police academy has an expected duration of approximately 6 months.  Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  The Police Officer Trainee is represented by SEIU Local 1021 and benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

The Integrated Marketing Program Manager reports to the Deputy Chief, Communications and is responsible for developing the campaign timeline, project scope, and messaging strategy for a multitude of communications projects for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), Peninsula Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), and the 101 Express Lanes Project (SMCEL).

• Develop and implement the District’s long-term and short-term campaign strategy for marketing and ridership campaigns for SamTrans, Caltrain, TA, and SMCEL in coordination with Communications, Government & Community Affairs, Marketing, Creative Services, Social Media, Digital Marketing, Customer Experience & Service.

• Assist the Deputy Chief with developing industry standard rubrics utilizing market research to define campaign objectives, create compelling and creative programming, execute on campaigns, and report on results.

• Provide strategic recommendations and change management leadership cross-departmentally, optimizing the Communications division’s effectiveness.

• Implement the District’s voice and brand through messaging, talking points, presentations, memos, and position statements for use by externally facing departments.

• Supervises staff. Hire, mentor, and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of marketing staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

• Develop project objectives, scope, delivery schedules, and services agreements with internal staff and stakeholders to drive long-term and short-term projects to success.

• Use analytics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide project direction, prioritize tasks, and shape marketing strategy.

• Lead copywriting efforts for strategic marketing campaigns on public-facing websites and blogs for SamTrans, Caltrain, TA, and SMCEL, as needed.

• Responsible for the accurate and contextual translation of marketing campaign content into English and other languages primarily used by agency customers.

• Hold stakeholders in other departments and divisions accountable to deadlines.

• Collaborate with the Creative Services in development of multimedia content creation in support of marketing campaigns for use across digital, web, radio, TV, and other mediums.

• Perform ongoing project management, oversight, and budget monitoring for communications and marketing projects.

• Prepare marketing campaign reports. Track campaign metrics (CTR, conversions, ROI), evaluate outcomes against targets, and recommend optimizations.

• Act as primary point of contact for marketing and communications projects with external stakeholders about regional marketing campaigns as necessary.

• Manage shared data and documentation using SharePoint and District Hub as necessary.

• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of full-time progressive experience in integrated marketing or program management of communications projects.

• Experience leading and managing complex communications or marketing projects. 
• Professional working experience leading marketing campaigns for public transit agencies.
• Experience with stakeholder management, ability to build rapport with stakeholders as needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
