About this role
We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

What You’ll Do

• Greet, acknowledge, and interactive with patrons and sports officials in a friendly and professional manner
• Ensures all game related information are uploaded to website in a timely manner for each game
• Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts
• Ensures use of sport program supplies follows the amount prearranged by the department budget
• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

Scorekeepers will be responsible for putting out and picking up the bases at the beginning and end of night, turning on and off the field lights, keeping score for each game played and keeping the official game time and other duties as assigned. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 6pm-10:15pm, from early March – mid-November.

This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June).  You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 5:30pm-10:15pm and one Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 9am-9pm, year-round.

THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
• Documentation including daily participant attendance;
• Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
• Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
• TB Clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA
• Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.

THE POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Campbell Community Center Supervisor, the Building Attendant oversees proper use and rental activity at the City of Campbell Community Center and other City facilities. The Building Attendant assignments include working special events at various City facilities. The Building Attendant performs basic custodial duties (moving tables, chairs, set-up AV equipment, set-up athletic equipment, moping, sweeping, empty trashcans, etc.), ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of the facilities. The Building Attendant work schedule is primarily during the late afternoon/evening hours Monday - Friday, and on weekdays (both day/evening shifts). Occasional week-day shifts may be available.

Salary Range: $15.50 to $18.00 per hour DOQ
Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule:  Approximately 8-20 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours

Responsibilities: 

• Provides customer service to community center renters, class instructors and the general public at the Campbell Community Center;
• Opens buildings for scheduled events, performs set-up/take-down of tables, chairs, portable staging, dance floors, AV equipment, and other set-up equipment; supervises evening and weekend activities at the Community Center;
• Performs custodial tasks (emptying trash containers, cleaning tables, chairs, and restrooms, sweeping floors, etc.) as assigned. 
• Are responsible for the security of the site, as well as providing good public and customer relations;
• Additional responsibilities, as needed, may be assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Must be 18 years of age and equivalent to high school graduation.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License. 
• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, follow oral and written instructions, display courteous public relations, and demonstrate safety and good judgment. 
• Previous experience in recreation, building maintenance, or customer service work is preferred.

This position will report directly to the Recreation Program Coordinator or Recreation Program Supervisor and will work various hours throughout the week, including evenings and weekends

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, a Recreator III independently performs assigned tasks which serve the public use of municipal recreation facilities and other duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Open and close facilities following established guidelines, set up equipment needed for facility programs, perform routine maintenance and cleanup for assigned facilities, collect fees for facility use, maintain order and discipline in assigned facilities and programs by enforcing City and Departmental policies, may facilitate in assigned program areas, may supervise other part-time staff, volunteers, or court workers as assigned, and maintain accurate records and reports. May include specific assignments such as senior swim instructor, senior lifeguard, facility attendant and assisting with after school or summer programs. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: General facility operations, intermediate lesson instruction techniques for assigned area, and safety practices for assigned programs.

Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions, meet and communicate effectively with members of the public, carry out assignments requiring average physical strength such as setting up tables and chairs, learn and progress in this position, direct others, understand and enforce written and oral rules, regulations and policies, solve minor disciplinary problems, interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Experience: A minimum of two years working or volunteering with people in a customer service position.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License is desirable.

Certification:  Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required to work in the Aquatics area as a lifeguard.  Possession of an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is desirable to work in the Aquatics area as swim instructor.

Basic office/customer service skills (answering phone calls, talking to patrons etc.)

Emphasis Two: LIFEGUARD:

Example of Duties:

Educate patrons in water safety, provide patrons with a safe aquatic environment, perform lifeguard secondary duties, and instruct swim lessons. Promote aquatic programs, assisting senior guard, and aquatics assistant. Conduct rescue operations and administer CPR and First Aid. Direct communication and contact with swimmers and the public.

Knowledge of:

Basic child guidance principles and practices. General techniques of various swim strokes.

Ability to:

Be active, lift and/or carry equipment and supplies. Work in a leadership role with children and adults

Emphasis Three: YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER:

Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; maintain confidential records; work well with older adults (50+); organize schedules; meet deadlines; learn on the job; collaborate with patrons, volunteers and colleagues across City departments.  Fluency in Spanish, Cantonese or Tagalog a plus.
