The Process Control Technician performs a variety of technical and professional engineering duties related to the design, installation, set-up, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware, software and instrumentation associated with the District’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
They support Operations and Maintenance by troubleshooting, researching, designing, purchasing, and installing field instrumentation, programmable logic controller (PLC), operator interface terminals (OIT), variable speed drives, electrical systems, and other appurtenances. The Process Control Technician provides PLC and OIT programming and installation support making programming changes as required for the efficient operation of new and existing District facilities.

Qualifications
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Experience and Education
- Graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by college or equivalent course work in engineering, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, and/or computer systems.
- Two years of increasingly responsible experience involving the configuration and programming of process control, instrumentation and operator interface terminals.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is desirable.
Licenses and Certification
- Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.
- Possession of a State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator Certification for Grade D1 is desirable.
