Communications Dispatchers are responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for the Police Department and City.  Responsibilities are centered on extensive contact with the public over the telephone, in both emergency and non-emergency situations to receive, transmit, and provide factual information and assistance.  All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines.  Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Fleet and Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for planning, assigning, supervising, training, and assisting mechanics in the routine preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems at Bus Transit facilities. This includes overseeing shop equipment, automated fueling systems, revenue fare collection equipment, passenger amenities, and signage.

The Chief Mechanic - Building Maintenance is a working position that combines the duties of the Mechanic - Building Maintenance classification with skilled supervisory responsibilities. These include supervising work crews, scheduling tasks, managing projects, and providing training and mentorship to subordinate employees. Additionally, the position is accountable for generating detailed written and electronic reports on facility and equipment conditions, documenting maintenance and repairs performed, and outlining ongoing maintenance needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plans, supervises and participates in work assignments for all employees supervised
• Evaluates job performance and knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) of all employees being supervised.
• Provides training, mentoring and feedback to personnel
• Issues 2nd level of progressive discipline, counseling, and written letters of reprimand to employees supervised. This position will not be responsible for administering discipline at subsequent levels.
• Interprets and enforces District rules, regulations, and policies
• Assures proper completion of job assignments with minimum expense and maximum productivity 
• Certifies records of work in progress and completed, including timecards, material requisitions, maintenance records and equipment counts when required.
• Collaborates closely with supervisors of oncoming and off going shifts to assure maximum daily productivity and continuity of work
• Monitors employee attendance and adherence to arrival, break and departure times
• Assures security and safety of premises and work.  

• Assists in developing and performs ongoing monitoring of key performance measures to ensure departmental goals are consistently achieved
• Performs quality control inspections to ensure all repairs meet or exceed regulatory requirements and internal safety and reliability standards
• Schedules facilities and equipment routine maintenance and ensures all inspections and preventive maintenance activities are performed on time and in a timely and satisfactory manner
• Monitors condition of facilities, passenger terminals and equipment. Directs preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize asset life and minimize maintenance expenditures   
• Coordinates and directs special projects and campaigns as required
• Coordinates with stores personnel to ensure adequate materials and supplies are available to complete ongoing and scheduled work
• Responsible for cleaning and safe housekeeping in work areas
• Ensures that occupational health and safety practices and procedures are strictly followed
• Refers any problems to Fleet and Facilities Manager, recommending action required
• Opens and closes work orders in Maximo and enters all pertinent information
• Performs other computerized recordkeeping as required
• Inspects, maintains and repairs all facilities mechanical systems including, but not limited to, bus washers, HVAC systems, electrical systems, lighting, plumbing, automatic and roll-up doors, waste oil and wastewater systems 
• Inspects, maintains and repairs shop equipment such as air compressors, generators, welders, fuel and lube oil delivery systems, hydraulic jacks and lifts, steam cleaners, pressure washers and pneumatic tools and other miscellaneous equipment.

The City has new desktop and laptop computers in place for employees. The City already has Crime Analysis and Traffic Analysis software systems in place. A new handheld citations system for traffic has recently been launched. The City also implemented a citywide GIS system, document imaging system, and Intranet, which are available to all staff members. San Mateo County Health's Aging and Disability Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the unclassified and limited-term positions of In-Home Supportive Services Social Worker I/II/III. Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, chore services, and other welfare services within the Health and the Human Services Agency.

 
Currently, there are three limited-term vacancies and an unclassified vacancy in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. The program provides in-home care for persons who cannot safely remain in their own home without such assistance. The recipients of IHSS are aged, blind and/or disabled and eligible for Medi-Cal. Disabled and/or blind minor children may also be eligible for IHSS. The Social Worker will make a home visit to determine eligibility for the program and to conduct an assessment to determine a range of service hours for particular tasks. The IHSS recipient or guardian is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive. The Social Worker will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits, attend meetings and perform other duties of the position. The Social Worker will work in the San Mateo, CA Aging and Disability Services Office.
 

This IHSS Social Worker will conduct intake and/or on-going activities for IHSS recipients. Some of those activities include:

• Conduct initial IHSS assessments using a detailed State assessment tool.
• Complete necessary documents, paperwork, and work within different information technology systems.
• Conduct annual reassessments.
• Educate, support, and perform administrative duties for IHSS recipients and care providers to understand/comply with program regulations.
• Provide education, outreach, and community resources information.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and program integrity to ensure proper adherence to regulations.
• Prepare for and attend Fair Hearings.
• Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings or other activities to support San Mateo County's vision for integrated services.

SALARY:
Social Worker I: $7,162.13- $8,008.00/month
Social Worker II: $7,236.67- $9,048.00/month
Social Worker III: $8,533.20- $10,665.20/month

Social Workers provide highly skilled, intensive casework services to individuals and their families and provide casework consultation within the department and to outside agencies.  Incumbents of positions at this level work with minimal supervision and are expected to have acquired the high degree of assessment skills required to perform care coordination and referral tasks in complex casework areas. Lead supervisory responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances dictate.

NOTE: This is an unclassified position. Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long and short term disability, and retirement.

THE POSITION:

The Police Officer Trainee position is an entry level position, requiring no prior law enforcement experience. Applicants are required to possess a valid California Driver’s License, be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be at least 21 years old at time of swear-in. The Town of Hillsborough is seeking highly motivated, positive, and people-oriented candidates for part-time per diem Communications Officer positions in the Police Department. Shift coverage is needed on daytime and overnight shifts. This position is only open to candidates with two or more years of experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher in California in the previous five (5) years.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, receives and transmits routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic;

dispatches and coordinates police, fire, public works and other municipal staff and equipment via multi-frequency two-way radio; maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records, and radio logs; and does related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Communications Officer II

This classification has primary responsibility for staffing the Town’s public safety dispatch communication center. Under most circumstances, the training and experience for this position would occur by having prior experience working for another police department as a Communications Officer for a period of at least two years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Officer II typically performs, but is not limited to, the duties noted below on a regular basis:

• Receives and handles incoming telephone and voice radio calls for police, fire, ambulance, and public works

• Secures and records information as to exact locations and circumstances using radio or other equipment to dispatch appropriate units to the emergency scene.

• Maintains radio contact with local units on assignment and directs and coordinates with staff from other agencies on a mutual-aid basis, as needed.

• Operates a multi-channel two-way radio, telephones, teletype, office equipment and software systems.

• Performs numerous duties simultaneously.

• Prioritizes calls for service as well as other work-related tasks such as assisting with schedule, monitoring email account or assisting with social media.

• Maintains radio logs and records other information as required.

• Maintains resource files for computer aided dispatch system.

• Serves as trainer to newly hired dispatchers on as needed basis.

• Assist with providing state-mandated training on relevant matters to other department staff, as directed.

• Oversees and performs work related to the warrant process.

• Maintains dispatch center work area and equipment in clean and working condition

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs repair, maintenance and alterations of electrical equipment including toll equipment and facilities on the bridge, shops, roadways, administration building and other District offices.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on all electrical and related equipment, according to established maintenance schedule, for bridge facilities and buildings and for other divisions as requested.

San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department

The Department collectively has ten engines and two trucks operating out of nine fire stations.  There are 164 full-time employees assigned to one of the following divisions:  Administration, Community Risk Reduction, Training, Emergency Preparedness, Fire Operations and EMS.  The Department serves nearly 164,000 residents daily with a day-time population around 230,000.   Additionally, the department participates in a mutual aid program throughout the county, helping to serve a million people daily. Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Budget and Financial Analysis and the Auditor-Controller, leads Agency budget process and participates in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, finances, program operation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Performs other position-related duties as assigned.

The Budget unit has a Professional Development Program which allows consideration and appointment of eligible candidates at the appropriate position level. The unit has the following position levels: 1) Senior Budget Analyst, and 2) Principal Budget Analyst. 

Senior Budget Programs Analyst:  - $136,032.00 - $164,403.20
Principal Budget Programs Analyst: - $143,249.60 - $173,160.00

Essential Responsibilities

• Leads Budget Team in the annual budget process and takes a lead role in performing annual long-term financial projection
• Performs a wide variety of complex financial analysis, including financial forecasting, revenue projection, revenue analysis, modeling and cost/benefit analysis
• Performs and leads special studies for the District as well as coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, divisions, and outside agencies
• Analyzes financial impacts of District plans, facilities, services, operations, expenditures, funding programs, and strategies for Board, staff and public
• Leads the preparation of the District’s budget including baseline projections, goals, objectives and performance measures
• Work with other managers to assist in preparing the departmental budgetary requests, ensures accuracy and timely completion
• Maintains and tracks the Budget issues in the Financial Systems that includes Budget Transfers, Budget Adjustments, and Monthly Budget Reports
• Takes the lead on examining current program operations and makes recommendations to management on efficiency and effectiveness improvements
• Reviews and creates contracts as needed as well as provides technical assistance to staff on financially related policies, procedures, and requirements 
• Analyzes existing and proposed administrative financial policies and procedures
• Performs regular and year-end budgetary analysis for management and the Board of Directors
• Leads and works closely with analysts in other departments
• Assists in examining all fiscal analysis performed on decisions before the Board of Directors for clarity and accuracy
• Must maintain confidentiality of District information at all times
• Plans, coordinates, researches, and prepares reports for special studies such as impact on revenues, cost reduction, and operating and capital budget analysis
• Performs complex administrative and financial analyses, including problem identification, selection of methodology, evaluation of alternative solutions, and presentation of findings to management
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service
• Performs additional related duties as assigned
• Regular and reliable performance and attendance is required
