Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders 

This recruitment is for spring, summer and fall events and activities beginning March 9th, such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues, Fourth of July, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, Halloween and other fun classes, activities, and events. Ideal candidates will be available to referee Monday through Thursday each week and/or to staff events on Friday evenings from June through August and occasional Saturdays. 

Pay: $16.90 - $17.90/ Hr.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting part-time temporary help for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released

THE POSITION:

The Department of Public Works is seeking highly motivated individuals with great technical and interpersonal skills to join our team as Automotive Service Workers.
 

Under general supervision, Automotive Service Workers perform a variety of semi-skilled automotive and equipment maintenance tasks which include the full range of lubrication and minor repair services, and routine service-related duties such as pumping gas and changing oil; perform skilled sub-journey mechanic work and learn journey-level mechanics under the direct supervision of an Automotive Mechanic or Automotive Service Supervisor.

 

Automotive Service Workers are assigned to the Vehicle and Equipment Services Section of the Department of Public Works. The Vehicle and Equipment Services Section maintains, inspects, services, and repairs County motor vehicles including school and other buses, trucks, equipment, Sheriff's Office vehicles, and motor pool vehicles. Our service and repair stations are located in Redwood City and San Mateo.

• At least one year of verifiable professional work experience in Automotive Services and experience with hybrid and basic computer diagnostic.

• Service vehicles with gas or propane, oil, water, coolant, transmission and brake fluids.
• Wash and clean vehicles; vacuum interiors; steam clean chassis, engines and other components.
• Inventory and stock supplies, provide order list to Supervisor; pick up and deliver auto parts.
• Repair and replace parts of transmission and differential and parts of engine.
• Perform BIT, school bus and related mandated inspections.
• Test drive vehicles after inspection and repair.
• Receive complaints concerning vehicles and prepare service request forms.
• Direct the work of seasonal, extra help, trustees, and work furlough workers assigned to motor pool.
• Observe safety regulations, change and prevent hazardous situations, bring hazards to supervisor's attention.
• Drive and operate tow truck and other medium sized trucks; drive and operate forklift; transport vehicles to various locations.
• Complete repair order forms noting parts and labor hours used.

Qualifications:

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.
• Must obtain a class B California driver license or equivalent within one year of appointment.

 

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• One year of experience performing automotive service work.

 

Knowledge of:

• Methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in servicing motor vehicles.
• Common automotive equipment cleaning methods.
• Common automotive parts and supplies.
• Proper condition of various auto parts, and procedures for ensuring proper condition and operation.
• Electrical, braking, air conditioning and heating, suspension and cooling system.
• Service and repair of hybrid and alternate fuel vehicles. 

 

Skill/Ability to: 

• Perform general service work on vehicles.
• Perform heavy manual labor.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Follow safety rules, procedures, and practices.

• Check proper condition of tires, belts, hoses, wiper blades and batteries.
• Change tires.

• Lift and carry equipment and supplies used in the course of work.

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.

THE POSITION 

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. This position will provide a welcoming presence by greeting members of the public and responding to visitor inquiries to assist with wayfinding in the facility and sharing information about activities in the building as well as city and other local community resources.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal Community Resource Clerk possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be comfortable working in a diverse community setting, providing customer service to community members of various ages, ethnicities, and abilities.  Candidates with bilingual skills are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate can work independently as well as with a team, and can make quick, quality, and educated decisions, taking a proactive approach to deal with customer service issues. • Assists in implementing the day-to-day operations at the Library | Parks and Recreation Center.

• Registers participants in programs and assists patrons with Library or Parks and Recreation account inquiries.

• Maintain the posting of current promotional materials, such as flyers, brochures, guides, and other printed materials.

Experience: Minimum of 18 years of age. One year of paid or unpaid work experience involving customer service.

Training:  Equivalent to graduation from high school.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Currently, the City of Pacifica Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department is recruiting for Child Care Aides and Child Care Associate Teachers to join our Child Care Team! The level at which an individual is hired will be dependent on the applicant's qualifications, work experience and education.

Salary

Child Care Aide: $16.50 - $19.50 per hour, part time, non-benefited, typically limited to 1,000 hours per year.  

Child Care Associate Teacher: $19.50 - $25.00 per hour, part time, non-benefited, typically limited to 1,000 hours per year.

 

CHILD CARE AIDE

This position will work directly with a Child Care Site Coordinator or Lead Teacher at varying pre-school or K-6/ K-8 school sites based on program needs. The Child Care Aide is responsible for leading activities and supervising small groups of children in State-funded Title V programs.

 

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assisting staff in implementing youth recreation activities, sports, arts, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities
• Maintaining discipline, site safety and observe the overall physical and emotional well-being of the program participants
• Interacting with parents, participants, school district and city employees in a professional manner
• Attending staff meetings and in-service trainings as required

ABOUT THE POSITION

 

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Mechanic I/II.  The Equipment Mechanic works within the Equipment Services Section within the Public Works Department, and is responsible for making minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive, diesel and other power-driven equipment, performing routine maintenance and servicing, and performing specialized mechanical and fabrication work as required.  

 

Equipment Mechanic I:

This is the entry level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions in this class perform mechanical repair work of a routine to moderately complex nature, working under the guidance and training of more experienced mechanics.

 

Equipment Mechanic II:

This is the full journey level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions assigned to this class perform the full range of journey level automotive and equipment maintenance work typically assigned to Equipment Mechanics. In addition, an Equipment Mechanic II assumes responsibility for providing training for Equipment Mechanic I’s and regularly performs the most complex maintenance and repair work in the shop.
