The Ideal Candidate

The candidate is comfortable taking a deep dive into safety programs. This individual is highly collaborative, able to work effectively across departments, and skilled at clearly explaining processes, requirements, and projects to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate is confident working directly with clients, internal staff, and executive leadership, balancing detail-oriented analysis with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

The Senior Building Inspector conducts routine and complex inspections of buildings and structures at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair to verify compliance with approved plans and applicable building, accessibility, fire, electrical, energy, mechanical, plumbing, zoning, and sign codes. This position also performs plan checks of construction documents, prepares inspection reports, and issues corrective actions when necessary, while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations on all job sites.

Under general supervision, the Senior Building Inspector provides technical assistance to the public, responds to inquiries regarding the construction process, and works collaboratively with other City departments. In addition, this role oversees inspection assignments, supervises and trains building inspectors, serves as the primary staff contact for building inspection complaints and dispute resolution, and performs related duties as assigned.

Experience and Training - Sr. Building Inspector 

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, and four (4) years of increasingly responsible and recent work experience in building inspection and/or construction. Public sector and lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

License and Certificate:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. 
• Possession of valid Combination Residential Inspector OR Combination Commercial Inspector, AND Plans Examiner certification from an approved agency. 

Special Requirements:

Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments and construction projects. While performing the outdoor duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts around high- voltage energized electrical equipment, climbs scaffolding and ladders, works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walls; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Coordinate all aspects of a project
• Set up and maintain project files or computer databases as required
• Provide regular project updates including written reports to project leader in a timely manner

• Must be reliable and be able to provide transportation

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)

DEFINITION:

The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services Department is seeking passionate, motivated, and certified fitness professionals to join the Mark Green Sports Center (MGSC) team as Group Exercise Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement music lessons tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, teaching music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to individuals and groups. They will also prepare participants for performances or showcases as part of the program, select and acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources, and motivate participants to achieve continuous progress. In addition, the Music Instructor will communicate effectively with recreation staff and parents/caregivers regarding schedules, progress, and participant needs, assess participants’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records. Delivering excellent customer service and representing the City in a professional and positive manner are essential aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will be patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment where participants can grow both musically and personally.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking a dynamic, professional leader who is a collaborative problem-solver to serve as the next Planning Director. The Planning Director will direct, oversee, and materially participate in the work of the City’s Planning Department, including current and long-range planning, maintenance of the General Plan, Housing Element, and zoning codes, and review of proposals for construction and development within the City of Sebastopol. The selected candidate will coordinate activities, permits, and projects with other City departments.
