Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) is seeking a skilled and motivated Property Management Specialist (PMS) I/II to join our team of professionals dedicated to protecting and restoring the natural environment within Midpen’s land in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the San Francisco Peninsula. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in project management, real estate principles and practices, and laws pertaining to property and asset management, including the administration of land use, rental and leasing agreements, property easements, and encroachments. A basic working knowledge of construction and water systems is also important. About the Position:   The Property Management Specialist I/II position is responsible for managing rental and communication leases, as well as leased land programs, including coordinating work of contractors, tenants and staff, on maintenance and construction of infrastructure on District lands. This position also supports agricultural rentals and historical leases.  Key responsibilities include preparing Requests for Proposals, selecting tenants, negotiating and drafting leases, and coordinating and managing the installation of infrastructure including but not limited to fencing and water systems.  The role also involves ensuring compliance with lease terms, collecting rent, and handling day-to -day general tenant communication.  The Property Management Specialist is expected to have the skills to trouble shoot and repair minor maintenance issues, as well as addressing larger infrastructure projects by overseeing contractors, lessees, or staff to ensure timely and effective completion of repairs. 

Responsibilities

The Property Management Specialist I performs most of the duties required of the position at an entry-level, providing support to more experienced Property Management Specialists and the District’s property management programs. Work is typically assigned on smaller scale projects or as support for larger projects managed by more experienced property management staff.

The Property Management Specialist II performs the full range of duties and is typically assigned to medium and large-scale projects which may be managed independently or in support of larger interdisciplinary, interdepartmental project teams as a property management subject matter expert. Successful performance requires coordinating work with other District departments and public agencies, as well as frequent interaction with tenants, landowners, contractors, consultants, and the general public. At this level. staff receive only occasional guidance for new or unusual situations  and are fully knowledgeable of operating procedures and policies.

Work Environment: The PMS I/II is a full-time position within the Facilities & Fleet Department at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California, reporting to the Senior Property Management Specialist and the Facilities & Fleet Manager.  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding, and it may also be eligible for a 9/80 schedule.  To meet service needs, three on-site workdays per week are required– set days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the office.  In addition to office work, the PMS I/II may perform fieldwork, including hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas. Fieldwork will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry, with exposure to poison oak, ticks and other wildlife. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment.

Education and Experience: any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Property Management Specialist I: equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in real estate, real estate law, property or asset management, business administration or a related field.  One (1) year of experience in real estate or property management that includes significant public contact, preferably with a public agency or land trust is highly desirable. 

Property Management Specialist II: equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in real estate, real estate law, property or asset management, business administration or a related field.  Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in real estate or property management that includes agricultural lease management and significant public contact, preferably with a public agency or land trust. 

Licenses & Certifications Required:  

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Possession of an International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Right of Way Agent Certification relevant to assignment and an IRWA Right of Way Asset Management Certification is highly desirable.

The City of San José Information Technology Department seeks an experienced City Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity Citywide initiatives.
 
The CISO will direct the Cybersecurity Office as the City’s principal executive leader for information and systems security. In partnership with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), they will manage risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response (IR), and recovery services for all City departments to ensure business resilience.
 
The City’s CISO must be able to apply expertise in security strategy, cybersecurity frameworks, managing staff and vendor services, leading incident management, and optimizing resources to achieve desired security outcomes.
 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity team, offering expertise and support to foster growth and a collaborative environment. 
• Collaborate with business units and solution providers to provide optimal security measures and achieve a balance between sustaining business operations and achieving security compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within the City and partners/vendors outside of the City to ensure information and systems meet the City’s standards for threat identification, protection, and risk detection.

• Resolve security-related audits in partnership with City staff.
• Ensure comprehensive security strategies align with resilience plans and emergency management exercises.
• Oversee vendor relationships and manage the City’s procurement and utilization of cybersecurity products and services across departments.
• Lead the annual Cybersecurity Assessment of the City’s technology infrastructure.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to address cybersecurity in the City’s emerging Internet-of-Things, smart communities, privacy, and equity through data initiatives. 
• Collaborate with the Digital Privacy Officer to address privacy challenges emerging from new technologies, including AI.

About the Department

The mission of the San Jose Police Department is to create safe places to live, work and learn through community partnerships. 

Position Duties

 

The City of San Jose is recruiting for a part-time School Crossing Guards in the Police Department during the normal school year.  Work involves providing for the safe conduct of elementary and junior high school children across heavily traveled streets and reporting problems requiring possible police action. Positions may involve substituting at different corners or a regular location assignment.  In general, these assignments are a split shift with approximately ten (10) hours per week.  School Crossing Guards are required to work outside regardless of weather conditions and must be able to provide a uniform as specified by the Police Department.   Work includes outside duties and exposure to weather.  Work may include the physical ability to sit, stand, walk quickly, step up/down from the curb, reach, push and/or pull, twist and or rotate, bend, lift and carry up to 10 pounds, use hands hold and use a stop sign the entire shift, use other hand to stop traffic and use a whistle at the same.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Human Resources Analyst to serve as the program manager for employee and labor relations. 

Working under the general direction of the Deputy Director and Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Analyst oversees complex employee relations matters; conducts and coordinates workplace investigations; manages employee discipline processes; and supports labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee associations. 

This role works closely with the City Attorney’s Office, outside labor counsel, and external investigative firms to ensure employee and labor relations matters are handled consistently, lawfully, and in accordance with City policies and labor agreements. The position also partners with department management and supervisory staff to address employee concerns, promote consistent practices, and support effective performance management. 

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to City departments and executive leadership, ensuring employment decisions align with applicable laws, labor agreements, and best practices. You will play a key role in maintaining productive labor-management relationships and supporting a fair, consistent approach to employee conduct and performance. 

While the primary focus of this position is employee and labor relations, the position may also be assigned responsibilities within the City’s safety and risk program. Specific duties will depend on the qualifications and skills of the selected candidate. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Coordinate and manage employee relations matters across City departments, including guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation, under the direction of HR leadership. 

• Conduct and coordinate workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other policy violations, in collaboration with HR leadership, the City Attorney’s Office, and external investigators, as appropriate. 

• Support disciplinary processes by ensuring consistency, legal compliance, and adherence to due process requirements. 

• Support labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee bargaining units, including data analysis, proposal development, contract drafting support, and preparation of negotiation materials and communications. 

• Interpret and administer Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and assist departments in understanding and applying negotiated agreements and relevant labor laws. 

• Serve as a key liaison among Human Resources, City departments, labor organizations, legal counsel, and external partners to support constructive labor-management relationships. 

• Provide advanced analysis and recommendations to HR leadership on employee and labor relations matters, employment law considerations, and policy development. 

• Develop and deliver training for supervisors and managers on employee relations topics, disciplinary processes, investigations, and contract compliance. 

• Monitor changes and trends in labor and employment law and assist HR leadership in evaluating impacts on City policies, procedures, and practices. 

• Serve as a technical resource on risk and workplace safety regulations and policies, as assigned, and support compliance and advisory efforts. 

SALARY 

The anticipated hiring range for the Deputy Chief Technology Officer position is $161,216 - $201,520 annually, with a full salary range up to $241,824. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative technology leader to serve as its first Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO). This position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in building, operating, and maturing the City’s newly established Information Technology (IT) Department. 

The Deputy CTO will serve as a key partner to the CTO, helping translate the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) into effective, day-to-day operations and successful project execution. While the CTO focuses on long-term vision, executive leadership, and Citywide strategy, the Deputy CTO will provide strong operational leadership, oversee core technology functions, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality IT services across the organization. 

This is a unique opportunity to help build a new department from the ground up in a forward-thinking, well-resourced municipal organization, while shaping how technology supports City services, employees, and the community. 

The Deputy CTO will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and may serve as the CTO’s designee in meetings, projects, and decision-making as assigned. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Department Operations & Leadership 

• Support the CTO in establishing and maturing the City’s standalone IT Department, including policies, procedures, governance, and service delivery models. 

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for IT functions, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of Citywide technology systems. 

• Supervise, mentor, and develop IT management and technical staff; promote a culture of service, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Technology Operations & Governance

• Partner with the CTO to maintain a strong cybersecurity posture, including oversight of security tools, incident response processes, and risk mitigation strategies. 

• Assist in implementing Citywide processes for vetting and adopting emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in alignment with the City’s AI policy. 

• Monitor technology trends and recommend practical, value-driven solutions that improve service delivery and organizational efficiency. 

Cross-Department Collaboration 

• Serve as a trusted partner to City departments, helping translate business needs into effective technology solutions. 

• Facilitate collaboration between IT and operational departments to improve business processes, user experience, and system adoption. 

• Represent IT in interdepartmental meetings, steering committees, and project teams as assigned by the CTO.

The Department:

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services.

 

The Position:

This is the entry-level class within the literacy series responsible for helping raise community awareness of the library’s adult and family literacy services. The Literacy Advocate does community outreach, facilitates information meetings for new learners and volunteers and supports the involvement of adult learners in the Read Santa Clara program, connecting them to helpful library and community resources.  Read Santa Clara is the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library. 

 

The position being filled is a 0.5 FTE position. Benefits for this position will be prorated to a half-time position. The annual salary range for this position is $34,966.38 - $44,692.20, this is a prorated amount. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks related to the care and maintenance of City facilities and equipment. There is currently one (1) vacancy which will be filled at either the Maintenance Worker I or II level, depending on the incumbent’s training and experience.

The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of janitorial duties, including semi-skilled and unskilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, basic mechanical, and general building maintenance tasks; Operates various tools and facility equipment, including but not limited to carpentry tools, plumbing tools, HVAC and electrical testing equipment, and related equipment as required; Performs routine maintenance on facility equipment as needed, and other related duties.

DESCRIPTION 

The Capital Improvement Division of the Public Works Department is seeking up to two motivated and capable individuals who can approach challenges with confidence and professionalism. Ideal candidates will have experience/background in civil engineering and utilities design and/or construction.  

The position may be filled as an Engineering Assistant, Engineering Associate, or Associate Engineer, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and certifications. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Prepare and oversee the preparation of  design plans and specification, construction documents, engineering studies and reports 

• Assist the Project Team (Division Manager, Senior Engineer, and outside consultants) in managing and performing varying responsibilities including permitting, preparation of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and estimates or the city capital projects, which may include water, wastewater, storm drain, landscape, pavement, and roadway improvements. 

• Coordinate and perform professional planning and engineering work, including reviewing proposed land development plans, and environmental impact reports (EIR), and recommends or develops appropriate mitigation measures 

• Participate in the review, development, and/or revision of the various elements of plans, ordinances, and other policies and procedures 

• Provide oversight of engineering consultants and/or co-workers
