The position of Public Safety Officer-In Training is a non-sworn, training classification while incumbents are attending the police and fire academies. Upon successful completion of the police academy, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn, training position of Public Safety Officer I. Upon successful completion of all required training, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn position of Public Safety Officer II.

Energetic and responsible leaders are needed to work with youth ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) in a variety of camp and community service programs. The Camp Specialist is required to plan and implement sports, games, arts-n-crafts, dance and outdoor work projects.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

General supervision is provided by the Camp Director and the Recreation Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must enjoy working with youth between the ages of 4 and 17 years old
• Must be able to meet the following physical requirements:
  • Must be able to work in changing climates (indoors and outdoors)
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
  • Ability to be in the sun up to seven hours per day
  • Ability to do physical labor for three to four hours per day
• Must have basic knowledge of sports, games and crafts, etc.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships

The Waterpark Deck Crew provides custodial maintenance and supervision of the Waterpark before, during, and after Waterpark operations. Work hours may vary but will often be mornings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Supervision of facility cleanliness
• Maintenance and cleaning of Waterpark restrooms, buildings, and structures.
• Power washing, and pool deck hosing
• Sweeping pool deck
• Trash pickup and changing of trash can liners, upkeep of trash receptacles
• Emptying and cleaning of pool skimmer baskets
• Light lifting and moving of equipment
• Prep Waterpark to open to the public, assist during operations, and complete closing duties
• Follow & Implement Department policy

The Waterpark Leads/Coordinators/Full-Time Staff at the Waterpark provide general supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be least 15 years old. One year or one summer work or volunteer experience is preferred

Instruct children and adults (primarily 5-12 years of age) in beginning to intermediate sports camps or programs, such as Badminton, Basketball, Baseball, Cricket, Football, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, etc. Class content should provide basic and/or more advanced game mechanics, strategies, and the rules of sports, depending on the student level of skill. The Coordinator is responsible for providing the highest quality of guest service to all visitors. The Swim Lesson Instructor is responsible for instructing, supervising, and testing all swim lesson participants to the best of his/her ability. The Swim Lesson Instructor is expected to work mornings, evenings and weekends on a regular basis. Instructors are not required to have any teaching certifications, but are expected to teach the standard set in place by the City of Fremont.

• Instruct, test, and evaluate students participating in City of Fremont swim program
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Prepare class environment daily (lesson plans, equipment, general safety)
• Maintain order and discipline in classes to ensure safety and promote a learning environment
• Submit appropriate documentation to Supervisor in a timely manner
• Demonstrate skills required for class content, utilizing teaching aids (kick boards, diving rings, etc)
• Ability to manage time, beginning and ending class on time
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Comply with standards of City designated safety agencies
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
