What You’ll Do

The City of Foster City is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer I with strong interpersonal skills. The Code Enforcement Officer will perform routine and standardized tasks and duties like conducting field checks to uncover possible violations of a variety of City codes and ordinances including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, and housing. This position will analyze and make recommendations on policy development and investigate possible violations, contact responsible individuals in person and in writing and perform follow-up investigations to see that remedial action has been taken. 

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: AA degree from an accredited college; BA degree desirable.

Experience: One year of experience in public contact work involving investigation or inspection skills.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

About The Position

We are seeking highly motivated, highly skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join the Recreation and Human Services Division with the City of Half Moon Bay.  As a critical member of this team you’ll be responsible for assisting in organizing and conducting a variety of recreation programs and activities.

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).
• Work evenings and weekends as needed.

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Knowledge of:

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.
• Modern computer equipment and Microsoft Office suite programs and browsers.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Public Works Department invites you to apply for the position of Building Maintenance Worker position.  The Building Maintenance Worker positions in this class are assigned a variety of tasks in the building trades. Although work requires the use of journey level tools and the ability to perform tasks in several of the crafts, the skill required in any one field is normally less than would be required of a journey level worker in that field. Technical supervision may be regularly exercised over one or more helpers.

Typical duties may include:

• Assist in a variety of carpentry and building maintenance tasks for municipal facilities. Keep accurate and timely records of building maintenance activities utilizing a computer work order system.
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as drinking fountains, faucets, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and aquatic facilities.
• Unstop drains and toilets.
• Use computerized/electronic equipment as required.
• Solicit bids and order parts and materials (purchasing) as needed
• Repair, install, and construct walls, cabinets, countertops, and other wood equipment and fixtures.
• Perform hand and bench work, operating table saw, miter saw, drill presses, skill saws, and other woodworking machinery.
• Maintain and repair structures such as barricades, fences, scaffolds and playground equipment and perform maintenance and repair on park and other City structures.
• Make repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
• Construct new walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, wallpapering, or staining and remove graffiti.
• Apply paint to building interiors and exteriors, fixtures and equipment. Prepare and paint or stain cabinets, doors, woodwork and other surfaces.
• Assist in general facility maintenance duties as required
• Repair, replace, and maintain electrical wiring, fuses, switches, motors, generators, lighting systems, and other fixtures and equipment
• Train and assist less experienced personnel.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
• Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality.

ABOUT THE POSITION

There are multiple positions full-time (38-hours per week) and part-time (20-hours per week). The current vacancies are at our family-friendly Redwood Shores Branch Library performing a wide variety of customer service and technical library work, providing services for children, adults, and families. Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Primarily provide customer service in the following capacities (but not limited to):

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor -Confidential.  Under general direction of the Financial Services Manager the Payroll Supervisor, plans, organizes, supervises, trains and evaluates the work and activities of assigned staff engaged in payroll operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation. Primary duties include providing expert level strategic leadership in planning, preparing, processing, and maintaining the City’s payroll and related records and reports, and partnering with Human Resources to recommend and implement payroll policies and procedures to meet City responsibilities with respect to labor agreements, labor laws, payroll tax administration and system updates.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates, oversees, and participates in the full spectrum of payroll activities; ensures timely and accurate posting of payroll to the financial accounting system; ensures accurate deduction and remittance of garnishments, child support, IRS levies and court orders as administered by vendors or internal staff; and ensures accurate reporting of changes in pay, payroll status, taxes, benefits, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
• Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and prioritization of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned Payroll programs.
• Plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; and works with staff to identify and resolve problems. 
• Participates in coordinating and maintaining payroll system data and is responsible for the execution of internal controls to ensure accuracy of data.

• Participates in the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system including configuration, testing, and validation to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance; subject matter expertise on payroll processes to support ERP system design and enhancement; data migration, system integration, and reconciliation; coordinates needs and customizations to meet the needs of departments and/or sound financial practices; and monitors ERP system performance, recommends enhancements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; develops work performance standards; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline and termination procedures in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

• Assists in the investigation of complaints; suggests corrective actions and recommends and implements improvements.
• Keeps abreast of relevant and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, City labor agreements, policies and procedures, and payroll best practices; recommends and implements payroll policies and procedures to comply with the applicable rules and regulations.  
• Ensures compliance with reporting mandates; submits appropriate forms and transmits information to government agencies, including the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Employee Development Department (EDD).
• Ensures CalPERS pension plan extracts are accurate and filed timely; responds to CalPERS payroll reporting inquiries, discrepancies, audit responses, and action plans.
• Develops, maintains, updates, and communicates organization wide payroll policies and processes regarding earnings, deductions, and timekeeping.
• Compiles, analyzes, and reconciles a variety of records in the preparation of documents and reports; conducts complex analysis and prepares reports as required. Coordinates payroll activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies and organizations; assists with training and responding to questions from department timekeepers on timekeeping and payroll systems, payroll legislation, and City policy related to payroll.
• Assists with the preparation of data for use in labor negotiations.
