THE POSITION: The Dixon Police Department is recruiting to fill full-time Police Officer positions at either the Academy Graduate Level or Lateral Level, as well as establish an employment eligibility list for future possible use. As a Maintenance Worker II in our Streets Division, you will help keep Mill Valley’s streets and infrastructure safe, functional, and looking their best. Working under general supervision, you will take on a range of skilled and hands-on tasks including paving, concrete work, storm drain cleaning, and street repair.

Your day might include operating construction equipment, mixing and pouring concrete for sidewalks or curbs, clearing debris from storm drains ahead of the rainy season, or resurfacing a neighborhood street. After passing required tests, the employee must commit to attending a 20-week program with the Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center. The police academy will be held Monday – Friday and include some nights and weekends. The next academy is January 5 - May 22, 2026. 

Upon graduation, the successful trainee will be transitioned to a Field Training Officer program with the Mill Valley Police Department and promoted to Step 1 Police Officer (probationary) with full benefits. If the employee does not complete and graduate the police academy with a POST academy certificate, they will be released from employment. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions, Library and Recreation & Childcare, that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of San Rafael residents. The Library Division operates with a $4.4 million budget and 22 full-time employees in fiscal year 2024/2025. The San Rafael Public Library consists of three branches—Downtown, Pickleweed, and Northgate—and is part of the MARINet consortium. Exciting projects include a $3 million modernization of the Downtown branch, set for completion by July 2025, and a $2 million renovation of the Pickleweed branch, with construction beginning in August 2025. THE POSITION

The Senior Library Assistant performs the most complex paraprofessional library work; assists patrons; implements programs, outreach, and marketing; supervises volunteer or part-time staff within a designated service area; and provides lead direction to other Library Assistants.

THE POSITION: As potential Police Sergeants, candidates in these roles will shoulder significant responsibility overseeing law enforcement and patrol duties during designated shifts. The Library Assistant works under general supervision performing a wide variety of library support services related to patron assistance, circulation, automation, acquisitions, and processing; demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; performs customer service duties as assigned; and any related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Library Assistant is a position in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned library support duties.  This class is distinguished from the class of Library Coordinator in that the latter has supervisory and management responsibilities. This class is distinguished from the class of Librarian I/II in that the latter is a professional position that provides more specialized library services. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Library Coordinator or Director of Library Services/Library Manager. Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following

• Staffs the circulation, reference, and children’s reference desks and provides superior customer service at these desks. 
• Educates patrons about the Library Code of Conduct, to ensure a positive experience for all patrons. 
• Assists patrons with the online catalog, computers, self-checkout machines, and other library equipment and electronic resources. Demonstrates and educates patrons in the proper use of the equipment and assists when standard issues arise.
• Performs circulation activities, including checking library materials in and out, registering library patrons and issuing library cards, placing holds, and explaining and implementing library policies and procedures. 
• Assists patrons with information inquiries, whether in person, by phone, e-mail, or official social media channels. These inquiries may include directional, informational, reader’s advisory, and basic reference questions. 
• Assists patrons with locating materials within the library and informs patrons of library services and resources. Suggests alternative or additional resources where appropriate. 
• Maintains the library in a neat and orderly condition, including by shelving library materials. 
• Supports the maintenance of the library collection, including by weeding outdated or damaged material; removing damaged items from circulation at service points; and repairing library materials. 
• Processes, catalogs, and prepares new materials for circulation following established procedures. 
• Suggests new materials to benefit the library collection. 
• Receives payments in cash, checks, and credit/debit cards, records payments in the Library computer system, provides receipts reflecting transactions, and addresses routine overdue and library customer circulation record issues and escalates more complex concerns.
• Balances the cash drawer on a daily basis. 
• Communicates with patrons about missing and damaged items and related fees. 
• Plans and implements library programs and events as directed
• Prepares marketing materials, public information, and event calendars for supervisor review and distribution.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily office activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing documents and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service.  The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking one (1) full-time Water Operator I, II, or III position.   Duties include, but are not limited:  inspecting and repairing water meters and water service lines; monitoring and recording meter readings of water consumption levels; testing backflow protection devices and performing related adjustments as needed; collecting and transporting water samples for lab analysis; conducting bacteriological testing and monitoring chlorine levels; coordinating and monitoring construction and improvement projects; inventory and ordering parts; programing pump stations.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

This recruitment is for Fall Events and Activities such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, and other fun classes, activities, and events. The ideal candidate will be available Monday through Thursday for at least one evening shift per week August 18th through October 30th.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50/ Hr

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the fall season of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released
• Confidence and capability to manage conflict with grace and calm
• Commitment to long hours, days, evenings, or on weekends depending on the assigned event schedule
• Must be 14 years of age or older and must obtain a WORK PERMIT if under 18
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Strong ability to follow directions
• Ability to lift and carry 25lbs
