The Position:

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

OR

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

OR

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. 

Certification by the International Code Council or other recognized agency, as a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector is required within one (1) year of appointment and for continued employment in this class

The City of Sunnyvale is looking for an Applications Analyst II to join the Information Technology Department (ITD). This position requires a service-oriented focus, ability to support and enhance our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications, along with primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with supporting Human Capital Management (HCM/HR) or Financial systems, preferably an integrated ERP/HCM system, ideally Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. Our Oracle Cloud ERP modules include General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procure to Pay, Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable and Project Portfolio Management, and HCM includes Core HR, Benefits, Absence, Time and Labor and Payroll. The candidate will be detail-oriented, able to create and edit documentation, possess strong customer service skills, and understand technical complexities involved in functional configuration, integration, interfaces, and report development with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with end users.

THE POSITION Under general supervision, this non-sworn, non-peace officer position performs assignments involving responsible public contact work in crime prevention and delivers non-emergency police services; to include Public Safety (emergency/non-emergency) Radio Comm for Police & Fire responders; also performs related duties as required.

Prerequisites / Qualifications 

This is the entry-level position.   Applicants must be 18 years old at time of application, have no felony convictions, have the ability to learn and understand radio and statue codes, understand policy and procedures written in English, function without close supervision, work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays, and lift and transport various objects.

Department

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into several divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Read Santa Clara, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services. 

Position

Read Santa Clara, the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library, has offered English as a Second Language (ESL) services since 2023, as part of a state grant project. The ESL Program Assistant provides 1:1 and small group tutoring for limited English-speaking adults to strengthen their basic English speaking and listening skills and help achieve their goals. This position works with and reports to the ESL Program Specialist and Literacy Program Supervisor. This position is responsible for supporting literacy volunteers, assessing adult learners’ literacy needs, and documenting program data for grant reporting.  The ideal candidate has a passion for serving adults with limited English language skills from historically underserved communities.

This is a grant funded position for 15 hours a week till June 30, 2026. The position’s continuation beyond this date is subject to the availability of grant funds.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Assist with assessing the language skills of adults with limited English-speaking skills and who do not speak English as a first language
• Tutor 1:1 and small groups at the library and at various community outreach sites
• Offer support to learners in meeting their goals
• Assist in recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to support small groups in the library and at community sites
• Be culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of learners from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
• Work at school sites to help parents/caregivers during school hours
• Work closely with the ESL Program Specialist and community partners to meet community needs
• Assist with collecting and maintaining accurate data in a timely manner for grant reporting

Positions in this class are responsible for the supervision and direction of a work unit comprised of paraprofessional, clerical and/or Library Page staff. The person in the position will work closely with the Northside Library Program Coordinator in maintaining and improving day to day operations, customer service, effective material circulation and distribution, scheduling staff and volunteers, and may act as the back-up person in charge.  May also develop and support branch programming with librarians. This person should have strong communication skills, a team mindset and community-based outlook.

Of the required experience one (1) year shall include supervising the work of others or as a project leader AND one (1) year of experience must involve customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

Acceptable Substitution:

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units up to two (2) years.

• Completion of an Associate of Arts degree in Library Technology may substitute for the required education, plus one (1) year of the required experience. This experience shall not be substituted for the one (1) year of experience supervising the work of others or as a project leader OR one (1) year of experience involving customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs skilled and technical fire suppression and prevention activities. Must be prepared to act up to the next rank as needed and performs other related duties as required.

Drives fire apparatus to fire incidents and emergency calls; prepares for pumping operations and pumps water to fire at proper pressure; Inspects pumping and other equipment to ensure that apparatus is in good working condition and notifies Fire Captain of any defects; inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment; assists in keeping fire station in a clean and orderly condition; maintains an accurate running log of out-of-service streets and hydrants in the City of Chowchilla; performs fire suppression tasks/responsibilities required during fire suppression, salvage, and overhaul; conducts fire prevention inspections of assigned occupancies and tests fire protection equipment; detects hazardous conditions or violations of fire and building ordinances and laws; issues citations and warnings for violations; may conduct training of civilian and Fire personnel in applicable fire code regulations, fire inspection methods and procedures, and fire safety; investigates cause and origin of fires, seeking evidence of arson or of fire code violations; prepares follow-up correction notices and letters pertaining to initial inspections; Performs related duties as required.

PREREQUISITES

Education and/or Experience:

• High School/GED and
• Currently serving a permanent appointment as a Firefighter with the CFD.

Lateral: 

• Currently employed as a Fire Engineer (or equivalent rank) with a fire suppression government agency for a minimum of one (1) year and have completed probation within that rank.
• Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and First Aid Certificate or higher certification by appointment.
• A current Cal-JAC CPAT card at time of application. (Desired)

Volunteer Lateral: 

• Three years of Volunteer Firefighting for the Chowchilla Volunteer Fire Department with a minimum of one year as a Fire Engineer and have completed probation within that rank.
• Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and First Aid Certificate.
• A current Cal-JAC CPAT card or equivalent. (Desired)

Certificates: 

• Incident Command System 100, 200, 700; California State Fire Marshal Driver Operator IA or equivalent.

The Position:

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill (1) one part-time Maintenance Worker I position and to establish an Eligibility List.  In this entry level class in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series, employees are trained and learn to become gradually more independent in, performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the repair, maintenance, construction, landscaping and cleanup of public works, parks and city facilities and services.  Duties include but are not limited to assist with digging out, breaking up and hauling away damaged sidewalks, gutters, curbs, and asphalt pavements; assist with painting street signs, crossings, crosswalks, curbs and centerlines; assist in repairing or installing landscape irrigation systems; learn to trim, prune, and remove landscaping and shrubbery; learn to operate a variety of trucks and equipment, including dump trucks, vactor trucks, rollers, front-end loaders, backhoe, tractors, air hammers, pavement breakers, lawn mowers, and other turf equipment; performs related duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the City's Urban Forestry, Parks, Streets, Collections, and Building Maintenance divisions.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, provides professional planning staff with a wide variety of technical assistance involving planning, zoning, and land use matters; provides information to developers and the general public; assists with the preparation of comprehensive reports and planning resolutions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Assist professional planning staff with technical and administrative work related to code, ordinance, and regulation requirements.
2. Provide preliminary review and analysis of development plans at the public counter; review plans for completeness and conformance to planning, building, zoning and other appropriate land use and development policies and procedures; confer with developers and the general public regarding City development standards and guidelines.
3. Receive telephone and counter inquiries on zoning and development matters; provide correspondence to the general public; assist and direct the public to the appropriate staff member or department; provide information regarding department policies and procedures.
4. Conduct basic studies and prepare routine staff reports related to planning, zoning, and land use activities.
5. Provide technical assistance to higher level planning staff; research, gather, and compile data and information relevant to environmental and natural resources for use in environmental review documents.
6. Prepare and present graphic material for public meeting presentations.
7. Make field inspections on related development proposals, zoning, or other planning matters.
8. Assist in the maintenance of the City land use data base; produce various reports derived from the data base; research and compile data for special projects and various reports.
9. Assist in the collection of data for annexations; assist in processing annexation applications.
10. Maintain a variety of statistical records; check and tabulate statistical data; prepare simple statistical reports; prepare monthly/annual report on department activity.
11. Compose routing documents for department comments and outside agencies’ comments.
12. Perform clerical duties related to department activities.
13. Serve as a member of various staff committees as assigned.
14. May be required to attend Planning Commission meetings to present information.

15. Attend professional development workshops and conferences to keep abreast of trends and developments in the field of municipal planning.
16. Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Knowledge of:

• Basic planning and development process terms and codes.
• Principles, practices, and theories of graphic design, drafting and related equipment.
• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• The City’s municipal codes and plans.
• Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Ability to:
• Prepare maps, graphs, charts, site plans, and other descriptive material.
• Assist with the preparation of comprehensive reports and planning resolutions.
• Provide information to the public, developers and realtors regarding address and zoning regulations.
• Research, analyze and interpret data.
• Maintain complex records and prepare reports and answer questions from records.
• Learn the organization, procedures, and operating details of the department.
• Learn planning, land use and zoning terms and codes.
• Perform administrative work including maintenance of appropriate records and preparation of general reports.
• Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in drafting, graphic design, urban planning, surveying, engineering, mathematics, computer science, the physical sciences or a related field is desirable.

Experience:
Two years of work experience, preferably in a municipal setting.

License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Additional steps (Step F, Step G, and Step H) included in the salary range listed above are available to employees in this job classification after completion of five years of service (Step F), ten years of service (Step G), and 15 years of service (Step H), and one year at the prior step, and good performance evaluations.  Initial salary placement is typically at the entry point of the range unless the candidate has prior Maintenance Worker experience which may warrant initial placement at a higher step.

ABOUT THE POSITION
City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Maintenance Worker position assigned to the Wastewater section within the Utilities Department, Operations Division. 
Wastewater section personnel are responsible for the wastewater collection system including inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, constructing, and repairing sanitary sewer lines and lift stations. Under direct supervision of the Operations Services Supervisor, this position performs and supervises maintenance work within the Wastewater section and acts for the supervisor in his/her absence or direction. 
The selected professional will develop leadership skills by supervising team members in the field while performing tasks such as sewer repairs, line cleaning, and closed-circuit television inspections. They will also gain experience in scheduling and planning work based on departmental priorities, supporting the supervisor, and learning to operate both independently and as part of a team.
