The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), Child and Youth Services https://www.smchealth.org/bhrs, provides a broad spectrum of Trauma Informed mental health and substance use services for children, youth, and families focusing on prevention, early intervention, and treatment of youth diagnosed as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and/or substance use disorders. DEFINITION

Minimum Qualifications

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:  One (1) year in a law enforcement agency within the last thirty-six (36) months and possession of a current Basic California P.O.S.T Certificate.       

OR 
Currently employed by a law enforcement agency and have successfully passed a field training officer (FTO) program, but have yet to complete probation.

OR
Successful completion of a California Basic P.O.S.T approved academy certificate. Obtained within the past eighteen (18) months from date of application is desirable.
 
Education:  High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desirable.
 
Necessary Special Qualifications: 

- Free of any felony convictions.

- A citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship (Government Code Para. 1031).

- Age, not less than 21 years at time of appointment.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation in the City. The SFMTA has oversight over the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, as well as bicycling, paratransit, parking, traffic, walking, and taxis.

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). The Program Delivery and Support Unit within the Transit Division was created in 2018 to oversee capital program and project budgets, manage vehicle and onboard equipment projects, testing and acceptance of rolling stock and technology projects. These projects will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions which improve safety and the Agency’s ability to deliver quality transit service. Within the Program Delivery and Support unit, the Transit Technology Group handles the delivery, acceptance, and management of technology systems which are critical to transit operations.

The Train Control Upgrade Project is an 8-year, multimillion dollar project with the goal of modernizing the existing Automatic Train Control System in Muni’s subway as well as expanding the supervision and limited control aspects of a Communication-Based Train Control System to the entire Muni light rail system.

Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will lead the integration of the new train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will be responsible for the successful design, fitment, and testing of all onboard equipment necessary to fully install the system on the LRV4 fleet and will represent the SFMTA in all project review and discussion related to onboard equipment installation.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will coordinate the design activities related to onboard vehicle equipment between the supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will work closely with these three parties to ensure that the delivery and installation of onboard train control equipment is completed according to the project schedule. The position will participate in the development of an installation plan to facilitate this process and assist with the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and development of project staff, as it relates to the installation of the system on the LRV4 fleet.

In addition, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will act as the SFMTA representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, project submittals and deliverables provided by the supplier and other project contractors as it relates to the installation of onboard equipment. As the SFMTA representative, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties:

• Oversees the successful integration of the train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles, including design, fitment, and testing.
• Leads a team of SFMTA vehicle engineers assigned to the project.
• Coordinates the design activities of the Train Control System Supplier with the car manufacturer (Siemens) and the vehicle onboard equipment installer.
• Represents SFMTA during technical discussions between the Train Control System Supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer.
• Responds to technical RFIs, resolves clarifications from vendors and addresses their requests by issuing addendums.
• Reviews all technical documents and correspondence from the Train Control System Supplier, the car manufacturer, and other project contractors.
• With the train control system supplier, develops and manages the migration and installation plan for equipping the entire LRV4 fleet with train control system equipment.
• Works with Rail Maintenance and SFMTA staff at the transit yards to coordinate and schedule work activities by the onboard equipment installer for fitting of equipment on the vehicles.
• Supervises the testing of train control system equipment on the vehicles and assists the project QA team in assessing the quality of installed components.
• Tracks completion of technical requirements and evaluates the system and individual subsystems and components for acceptance.
• Analyzes and solves electrical and vehicle sub-systems problems such as power, EMI connectivity, and fitment for onboard train control system components.
• Analyzes related project workloads and budgets.
• Communicates with Train Control System Supplier for technical support as needed to address system issues under warranty.
• Works with Supplier, SFMTA operations and maintenance staff to ensure both the designed and finished onboard train control system meets operations and maintenance needs and works within their stated constraints.
• Participates in the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and counseling of project staff.
• Reviews and manages workload assignment to consultants, junior staff and interns as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Five (5) years of verifiable professional electrical engineering experience, which includes two (2) years experience equivalent to City and County of San Francisco class 5207 Associate Engineer as a licensed Professional Engineer in the specialty you are applying for; AND
2. Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Electrical Engineering.

Substitution: Candidates licensed in other states, who otherwise meet the minimum requirements of this announcement, but do not possess the required California license, may file for this recruitment, and must obtain the required California license within 1 year of appointment.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the 8562 Counselor, Juvenile Hall, is responsible for the care, custody, safety and welfare of juveniles detained at Juvenile Hall.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to: 

1. Observes behavior of detainees in an assigned living unit; directs detainees in the upkeep of personal hygiene, during mealtimes, and while cleaning the unit; maintains appropriate close supervision over detainees to prevent negative incidents; provides appropriate discipline; consults with supervisors regarding disciplinary problems; conducts regular state mandated security checks of rooms; monitors visiting sessions to ensure the safety and security of detainees and counselors.

Inspects windows, locks doors when not in use, and keeps count of all detainees assigned to the unit; administers emergency first aid pending the arrival of medical staff; responds to emergency conditions which may require physically subduing and restraining hostile detainees to ensure the safety and security of the unit and the facilities.

3. Completes incident reports, behavior reports, individual case reports, and other departmental forms and reports; maintains the unit log book to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Maintains and updates electronic databases and case management systems.

4. Conducts ongoing individual and group counseling sessions with detainees by communicating rules, policies, expectations, and consequences; listens and responds to questions, concerns, complaints, and requests; provides assistance in working out problems to assist detainees.

5. Directs leisure time activities; teaches and encourages good sportsmanship.

6. Transports residents to and from various locations; directs and controls residents’ movement to ensure the safety and security of the residents.

7. Facilitates the admittance and release process of residents.

8. Confers with departmental personnel and representatives of outside agencies.

Qualifications

Education:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver license.
Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Substitution:
Experience as a counselor in a juvenile detention facility or experience involving the organization, detention, or suspension of youth groups in a recreational or correctional program may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year equals thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units.

San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in an Ambulatory Care Clinic and documenting in an Electronic Medical Record. Knowledge of working in care teams and patient centered medical home terminology is preferred, but not required.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.
• Assist in therapeutic milieu programs.
• Advise patients on the use of restorative equipment.
• Observe and practice proper isolation techniques.
• Operate various types of sterilization equipment.
• Transport specimens, medical records and related items.
• Enter and retrieve a variety of information in automated systems.
• Greet patients at clinics and escort patients.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 
With additional training and/or certification(s), some employees may perform the following duties under conditions required by code and department policy:

• Perform injections including immunizations.
• Perform finger stick tests of all types including glucose testing.
• Perform skin tests including PPDs.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws.
• Perform hearing and vision tests.
• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.
• Take patient histories including risk factors.
• Set up, administer and record the results of EKGs.
• Follow provider orders regarding prescribed treatments including assisting patients with self-administration of medications.
• Teach and counsel patients on a variety of health related subjects as directed.

 

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and procedures specific to area of assignment.
• Principles and techniques in delivering patient care services related to personal hygiene, comfort, treatment, transportation, rehabilitation and physical or psychosocial needs.
• Infection control.
• Diagnostic imaging.
• Safe lifting techniques.
• Theory and practice of total body substance isolation.
• Patients' rights.
• Elder and child abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements.

Skill/Ability to:

• Follow oral and written instructions.
