ABOUT THE POSITION

The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside sworn officers and professional staff while supporting public safety initiatives that benefit the Gilroy community.

The intern will assist multiple divisions within the department by providing clerical and administrative support related to crime analysis, youth task force and gang prevention initiatives, public safety communications, and community outreach programs. Responsibilities may also include assisting with special projects, handling confidential information, and supporting efforts that enhance departmental operations.

The intern will also participate in community outreach efforts and local events, helping strengthen connections between the department and the community.

The Police Administration Intern will work under the guidance of a Management Analyst, gaining valuable mentorship and professional experience while supporting the needs of various units within the department. This internship provides meaningful development for students interested in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or public service careers.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE

Position Duties

 

The salary range for the Senior Power Resources Specialist Classification is:
$147,005.04 - $180,070.80 Annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy
• Working with other internal teams to share and learn relevant information
• Other duties as assigned     

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.

Experience

Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Required Licensing (such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.) 

Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license is required.

Form 700 requirement
This position requires a disclosure of outside investments, real property interest, income, and business positions. You must complete and file an “Assuming Office Form 700” with the City Clerk’s Office within the first 30 days of employment with the office.

THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION, REQUIRING PART OF THE WORK WEEK TO BE ONSITE IN THE DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE OFFICE. The hybrid work schedule may change due to the department’s business needs in the future.

The Department: 

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library has recently finalized and is in the ongoing process of implementing its new Strategic and Facilities Master Plans that will support the direction of future library services.

 

The Position: 

This is an entry-level, as-needed position, requiring no previous training or experience.  After training, a Library Page is assigned routine tasks and duties, and works under direct supervision. Duties include manual work in connection with the use and maintenance of library resources such as checking in and shelving library materials and assisting with meeting room setup. This position may also assist in supporting library programs and services, as well as helping to create a welcoming environment at the library.   

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to work independently. PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

 

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

 

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. An exciting opportunity is available to join the City of Santa Clara’s Water & Sewer Utilities Department as a Code Enforcement Officer. This position offers the chance to be part of a small, dedicated team in the Compliance Division, supporting critical programs that protect and manage the City’s water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system.

The Position: 

The Code Enforcement Officer will conduct inspections, lead investigations and complete plan reviews. The Code Enforcement Officer will also determine violations and work towards compliance related to storm water pollution, sanitary sewer overflows, water waste incidents, fats, oils and grease (FOG) source control, recycled water, and related municipal codes and ordinances. Additionally, the incumbent will complete various water, sewer, and recycled water sampling.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

An Associate's Degree in City or Urban Planning, Business Administration, Construction Technology, Environmental Science, or closely related field.

 

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

Two (2) years of experience in public contact work involving zoning administrative investigation, building inspection or investigation, industrial/commercial pretreatment inspections, or stormwater pollution control, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

 

Acceptable Substitution: 

One (1) year of additional related experience may be substituted for each year, up to two years of the required education.

 

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

 

For the Public Works Department:
A recognized professional certification within the stormwater management field (QSP, QISP, CSM, CESSWI, CPESC, CPMSM, etc.) within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.
 
 For the Water and Sewer Utilities Department:
 A Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector Certification issued by the California Water Environment Association within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.
 A Water Distribution Operators Certification from the State Water Resources Control Board is desirable.
 A Cross-Connection Control Program Specialist Certification from the American Water Works Association is desirable.

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

A Bachelor's Degree in City or Urban Planning, Business Administration, Construction Technology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or closely related field is desirable.
A Code Enforcement Officer Certification by the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) is desirable.

 

Other Requirements:  

May be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

 

Conflict of Interest:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting for a driven and enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate-level Community Development College Summer Intern for the summer of 2026! WORK SCHEDULE 

The Internship is for 11 weeks and can start as early as May 26, 2026, and end as late as September 30, 2026. This paid internship is offered at 32 hours per week. The official start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Thursday between 8:00am – 5:00pm. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Assist Planning with Greenhouse Gas Reduction/Climate Action Plan, including research and community outreach

Sunnyvale Golf Course is a par 70 regulation 18-hole course with numerous bunkers, dog legs and water holes. Sunnyvale is a well-manicured test of the player's skill stretching out to 6,255 yards. Sunken Gardens Golf Course is a 9-hole, 1,502-yard executive course. Sunken Gardens is ideal for the beginner golfer with ample practice facilities and shorter length holes.

Under general supervision performs a variety of semiskilled and some skilled manual tasks in the construction, repair and maintenance of public works and parks facilities; does related work as required.
 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class are distinguished from those in maintenance worker by the requirement of the efficient operation of a dump truck, front end loader, light tractor with mower attachment or similar equipment on a production basis and requires a knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment of the department and/or division to which assigned.

 

Essential Job Functions

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

In addition to the general duties listed below, the following duties are also performed in the Golf Operations Division:  As a member of a crew, incumbents participate in the following crew activities, independently performing certain tasks as assigned.

• Operates various equipment involved in the maintenance of golf courses.
• Operates a light tractor with gang or sickle mower attachment, small roller or comparable attachment.
• Operates light equipment such as mowers, aerators, spray rigs, utility vehicles, backhoes, front-end loaders and dump trucks.
• Prunes small trees and shrubs
• Edges ground cover.
• Repairs irrigation, installs plant material, performs landscape construction duties.

General:

• Operates various equipment involved in the maintenance of street, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water distribution system, parks, street trees, or golf course.
• Operates equipment such as air compressors, pneumatic hammers, power activated hammers, chain saws, concrete saws, pipe cutters, sprayers, compactors, forklifts, painting and spraying equipment and rollers.
• Operates power tools such as air compressors, jack hammers, wet tapping machines and painting and spraying equipment;
• Loads, unloads and operates pick-ups and trucks to transport maintenance supplies and materials.
• Places traffic control flags, signs and cones to direct traffic around work sites; may direct traffic.
• Uses general carpentry and mechanical hand tools such as brooms, rakes, shovels, ladders, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, saws, drills and wrenches.
• Performs routine maintenance and repair of hand and power tools.
• Tactfully responds to questions and comments from the public.
• Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and tools used.
• May prepare and keep written records and make material and equipment requests.
• May perform some tasks regularly assigned to senior level classes, particularly on a training basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when operating assigned equipment. Acute hearing is required in both the field and the office. The ability to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 70 pounds, such as a jackhammer, is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, heat, and cold. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust chemicals, biohazard materials and air contaminants. The nature of the work may also require the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, work in confined spaces, drive motorized vehicles and work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

The base salary for this classification includes pay for potentially hazardous duties as listed in the essential job functions. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; AND

Two years of maintenance experience equivalent to the level of Maintenance Worker I.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: 

• The basic techniques, equipment and materials used in the maintenance of water systems, sewers and/or streets, as required by the program to which assigned.
• The safety procedures for operating equipment and power tools.
• The proper use and care of common hand tools.
• Work practices governing the maintenance and construction of municipal facilities such as streets, sewers, water lines, golf courses, and landscaped areas;
• Landscaped maintenance practices

Ability to: 

• Work effectively alone and as a member of a crew.
• Operate a dump truck or like mover vehicles requiring comparable skills.
• Operate pneumatic and power tools
• Locate utilities and understand Underground Service Alert (USA) procedures as required by the specific position.
• Safely perform heavy manual labor.
• Learn the operation of power tools and equipment and the performance of a variety of semi-skilled tasks.
• Learn to safely handle toxic materials.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Work effectively as a member of a crew.
• Act in a courteous and diplomatic manner with members of the public.

Willingness to:

• Wear a uniform
• Perform on-call duty assignment and call-back work as required.

License/Certificates:

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record.
