Salary range(s) for this classification is/are:   

• Building Inspector Combination: $114,769.20 - $139,579.44 
• Building Inspector Combination Certified I: $118,154.40 - $143,554.32 
• Building Inspector Combination Certified II: $121,321.20 - $147,878.64 
• Building Inspector Combination Certified III: $126,169.68 - $153,709.92 
• Building Inspector Combination Certified Senior: $143,073.84 - $174,370.56 

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Library and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions, Library and Recreation & Childcare, that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of San Rafael residents. The Department’s mission is to enrich the community through discovery, learning, and play, and strives to maximize the delivery of strategically aligned programs and services to provide the highest value for the community.

The Library Division operates with a $4.4 million budget and 22 full-time employees in fiscal year 2024/2025. The San Rafael Public Library consists of three branches—Downtown, Pickleweed, and Northgate—and is part of the MARINet consortium. Exciting projects include a $3 million modernization of the Downtown branch, set for completion by July 2025, and a $2 million renovation of the Pickleweed branch, with construction beginning in August 2025. Additionally, the City is planning a new, joint Library and Community Center at Albert Park, while also focusing on operational improvements and championing innovative library programs and services.

THE POSITION

The Senior Library Assistant performs the most complex paraprofessional library work; assists patrons; implements programs, outreach, and marketing; supervises volunteer or part-time staff within a designated service area; and provides lead direction to other Library Assistants.

• At least four (4) years of experience comparable to the Library Assistant classification series at the City of San Rafael.

The City of Stockton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join our Information Technology team, with a focus on enterprise applications. This role requires a deep understanding of enterprise application architecture, data integration, and IT best practices.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and being fluent in the latest technologies, various AI tools, Power BI, Databricks, Azure, Copilot Studio -Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS), to name a few, with experience in the implementation and optimization of enterprise-grade IT systems.

This role involves analyzing and improving computer systems, coordinating with vendors and technical teams, and ensuring seamless integration across platforms. Under the administrative direction of the City Administrator, the Community and Economic Development Director will plan, organize, direct and coordinate the City’s community and economic development program and will represent the city in matters of economic development; and performs related work as required.

This is a department head position who will coordinate the City’s efforts in promoting community and economic development. The incumbent will serve as Executive Director of the Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency. The incumbent serves as liaison with local, state and federal economic development agencies, and brings various program activities together into a City-wide coordinated and planned economic development strategy. The Community and Economic Development Director acts with a high degree of independence of action in the assigned area of responsibility to attain objectives according to policy guidelines. The Director will direct and coordinate the City's economic development efforts that may include financing, site selection, supplemental outreach recruitment and existing business expansion and development entitlement assistance. Prepares and recommends the City's economic development policy goals and implementation plans. Serves as a liaison with local, state and federal agencies responsible for economic development activities. Manages developer selection process and negotiates developmental agreements for commercial and industrial projects. Manages permit processing, planning, building plan checking and inspections, code enforcement, historic preservation and development engineering. Directs research and preparation of various reports, proposals, and studies.
