The City of Sebastopol is seeking two diligent, energetic, dependable Administrative Technicians, one to serve in the Public Works Department and the other will serve the Building and Community Development departments. The Administrative Technician will perform a variety of technical-level administrative duties in support of an assigned City department or program. Duties may include areas relating to finance, grants, building, planning, public works, engineering, or general support of City operations. The selected candidates will conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare draft reports. In addition to tracking and reporting operational statistics, this position provides technical assistance to management. This is a lead position, assigning, reviewing, and training the work of other lower-level support staff.

There are two assignments within the City, one located in Public Works and one in City Hall. The Administrative Technicians will be expected to cross-train as emergency coverage for any department's administrative duties.

For the position assigned to Public Works: The Administrative Technician assigned to Public Works will report to the Director of Public Works/ City Engineer at 714 Johnson Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472. This position will perform clerical duties such as answering phones, providing office support services, and ordering supplies for the department. In addition, the position will manage budget tracking operations that include Springbook reports, invoicing, and project close-outs. The Administrative Technician will oversee contract processing, special event permit processing, and California Department of Industrial Relations(DIR) registrations. The selected candidate will assist in Council agenda reports and in preparing the agenda packets. This position will also serve as the Water Conservation Coordinator, providing news to the public on drought reports and Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) within the City.

For the position located in City Hall: The Administrative Technician will report to the City’s Building Official or Community Development Director at City Hall, 7120 Bodega Avenue, Sebastopol, CA 95472. The primary duties of this assignment will serve as the main City contact at the City’s public counter, providing support to the Building and Community Development departments. In, addition to supporting Building and Community Development in all permitting activities, this assignment involves providing administrative and analytical support for the City Clerk, Assistant City Manager and City Manager, serving as staff and support for public meetings, administering the media and public comment for assigned public meetings, tracking and responding to public records act requests, records retention assistance, assisting with records management, transcribing minutes, and updating the City’s website with official documents.

Position Duties:

Salary Range

The Assistant Director salary range is currently $178, 713.34 - $288, 700.62. Placement within this range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. This salary includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The salary is supplemented by an attractive benefits package. 

The Position

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Environmental Services Department (ESD), overseeing a budget of approximately $550 million and seven direct reports. Minimum Qualifications:

The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is a Special Service District that has been serving area residents for over sixty years. As a Special Service District, GVRD operates as a separate government agency from the City of Vallejo. GVRD manages 407 acres of public park space including 20 neighborhood parks, 10 community parks, 6 special purpose parks, and Olympic-size swimming pool and 4 community centers.  GVRD maintains over 1,000 acres of public land. 

GVRD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is currently seeking to fill one (1) Principal Engineer/Architect position in the City Facilities and Architectural Services (CFAS) Division. The Principal Engineer/Architect will support the Library Department (LD) in leading the coordination for the Library Facilities and Customer Experience Planning. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving critical infrastructure initiatives, including supporting the implementation of the California State Library Building Forward Infrastructure Grant projects and managing capital and facilities planning processes in collaboration with the LD and consultants. This individual will act as a leader, ensuring timely and effective project execution, and delivering results that meet organizational and state funding objectives.  

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Principal Engineer/Architect will require the ability to extensively collaborate across the LD, the DPW, Planning, Building and Code Enforcement (PBCE) and other contractors/vendors, while maintaining adherence to budgets, timelines, and plans. Outstanding leadership, a high degree of accountability, and the ability to establish an excellent working relationship with all stakeholders are required to be successful in this position.

• Lead the design and construction of major public works projects, in partnership with the Library Department.  

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, technicians, and inspectors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and consistent services. 

• Oversee engineering/architectural or other technical research; review, analyze, and prepare recommendations to Senior and Executive staff regarding project and/or program scope or objectives. 

• Direct and coordinate the preparation of cost estimates and project and/or program budgets; monitor budgets and schedules for performance. 

• Consult with Senior and Executive staff, contractors, other departments, and consultants to plan, design, and construct major engineering/architectural and/or other technical projects. 

• Direct and coordinate the creation, planning, and management of capital budgets and staffing plans to successfully deliver capital projects. 

• Oversee the planning and execution of the procurements of design consultants and construction contracts. 

• Partner with the department’s other executive staff to lead transformation, training, and other process improvement efforts in the City’s capital improvement program. 

• Prepare technical reports and correspondence as required.

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and materials.
• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of snacks.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Child guidance methods.
• Developmentally-appropriate practices and curriculum.

• Accept direction from supervisor.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Work as scheduled.

• Some experience with school age children, preferably 6 months.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Must have a current TB test clearance
