THE POSITION

Work Schedule:
A typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 11:30 am - 3:00 pm - school days only; summer and school holidays off.

Preschool Program: Under general supervision, this assignment assists with organization and instruction of preschool classes for children 18 months through 5 years. Duties also include developing and directing weekly lesson plans and activities.

This Recreation Leader position will be required to work at each of our venues. Under general supervision, this assignment performs venue setup, breakdown, and minimal custodial tasks. A large portion of this position is customer service oriented.

Work Schedule
This Recreation Leader must be available to work on weekends, Friday-Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., 10-12 hour shifts, with occasional weekdays/weeknights. Hours may vary dependent on the number of facility rentals, classes, and meetings that are booked.

Supervision Received and Exercised: 
Receive general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION INSTRUCTOR

Essential Job Functions

As a Therapeutic Recreation Instructor, you will:

• Plan, implement and evaluate recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.
• Adapt activities to meet the needs of program participants; create a positive and safe environment; establish positive rapport with parents, participants and volunteers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work related documents and using a computer. The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Department invites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.

This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.

Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around.  This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.

THE POSITION

• Two years or summer seasons of experience in recreation programs
• Two years or summer seasons of supervision of staff or volunteers 
• Must have availability to work during program hours
  • Morning shifts (8am – 12 pm)
  • After School shifts (12 – 6 pm)

Licenses/ Certificates:

Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record.

THE POSITION

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for staff to assist with events at the Rocklin Events Center and other locations in the City. The Events Venue Specialist (Program Assistant) is a temporary position and incumbents work on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 28 hours per week and up to 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employment does not provide any guarantee of continued employment and the City of Rocklin may end the assignment at any time. Temporary employees are not eligible for any other benefits except where required by law and there is no guarantee of future permanent employment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs light janitorial duties (e.g., empty trash, clean restrooms, and restock supplies) before, during, and after events.
• Sets up audio visual equipment at venue site.
• Checks clients in and out of City venues.
• Takes prospective renters on tours of facilities and answers questions about pricing and equipment at each rental location.
• Ensures client needs are met.

THE  SCHEDULE 

A typical schedule looks like this:  

Evening and Night shifts Sunday through Thursday

Shifts vary from 7am - 1am Friday and Saturday

Night and weekend availability is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age

Six (6) months of volunteer or work experience in the area assigned is highly desirable

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
