The Marinwood Community Services District Fire Department is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Firefighter-Paramedic.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  There is currently one (1) positions available for immediate appointment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Marinwood Fire Department operates as a single station all-risk Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine company that includes nine (9) professional firefighters trained in areas of firefighting, ALS/BLS emergency response, technical rescue, disaster response, fire prevention, and community preparedness.  The department works closely with the City of San Rafael Fire Department under an existing Shared Services Agreement.  This includes San Rafael Fire Department providing all chief officer services, ambulance services, and joint training programs.  Our mission is to partner with our community to proactively reduce risk from fire, illness, injury and other hazards.

ADMINISTRATIVE ANALYST 

$6,870 - $8,351 monthly (DOE/DOQ) - salary effective July 1, 2026

The San Rafael Fire Department is an all-risk fire agency with 69 highly trained operational firefighters providing services in firefighting, Advanced Life Support (ALS) response, ambulance transport, technical rescue, hazardous material response, disaster response, fire prevention, and community preparedness.   

The San Rafael Fire Department delivers exceptional public service from seven neighborhood fire stations.  Our department philosophy of community fire servicing emphasizes collaborative relationships with the community.  

THE POSITION

The San Rafael Fire Department is seeking a full-time Administrative Analyst to join our Administrative Division.  At the direction of the Department's Senior Management Analyst, this position provides professional administrative support to the Fire Department, with responsibilities including contracting, grant management, principles in accounting and other administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will be a blend of the following skills and experience:

• Background and knowledge of accounting and budgeting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting.
• Experience with managing contracts, risk management, and the RFP process.
• Ability to create flyers, news posts, and other outreach material to the broader community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate meeting agendas, minutes, and memos.
• Experience with payroll and understanding of basic human resources policies and principles.
• Ability to analyze data and present concise written recommendations or summaries of findings.
• A collaborative, service-oriented approach to working with the public, internal staff, and staff across departments.

• Plans, organizes, coordinates and implements day-to-day program assignments independently.
• Conducts research, analyzes data, and presents conclusions and recommendations.
• Analyzes federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to assigned programs and develops and implements changes.
• Develops program manuals, comprehensive reports, handouts, flyers, newsletters, and other documents for communicating program  information.
• Drafts and publishes authorized social media posts, consistent with City messaging, and responds to citizen inquiries on behalf of Department.
• Plans and coordinates civic engagement events.
• Participates in the training of clerical personnel.  May provide work direction to others.
• Prepares comprehensive written reports regarding program activities.
• Educates and engages with other city staff, city council, community representatives, and citizens.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:  (Please see  job spec for additional details):  

• Equivalent to an Associate's degree with college course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field, AND
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative support experience, preferably within a public agency.
• Experience involving extensive written customer communications, employer social media posts, research, budget preparation/reconciling; development of marketing materials and event planning/coordination may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

This is a Limited Term|Temporary|Full-Time|Fixed Term|Non-Exempt position with limited benefits.  This position is for ONE YEAR ONLY for the period July 2026 through June 2027.

THE POSITION

The Wildfire Program Support Specialist provides operational, administrative, and technical support for the San Rafael Fire Department's wildfire prevention, mitigation, and community risk-reduction programs.  The Specialist will support the Wildfire Mitigation Program through the implementation of the San Rafael Wildfire Prevention and Protection Plan and Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA) goals.  The position works closely with fire prevention staff, vegetation management personnel, contractors, community organizations, and residents to ensure efficient program delivery and high-quality customer service.  This role supports planning, data tracking, public education, defensible space evaluations, grant administration, and logistics for wildfire-related initiatives.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Support the implementation of the San Rafael Wildfire Prevention and Protection Action Plan and Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority workplan in an inclusive and equitable manner.
• Provide various administrative support services including but not limited to inputting invoices, contracts, and purchase orders, budget tracking, meeting support and responding to resident inquiries.
• Assist in coordinating contractors, scheduling inspections, and maintaining project timelines and documentation.  
• Conduct field support tasks such as collecting site information, documenting parcel conditions, preparing inspection forms, and entering data into department databases.  
• Maintain, organize, and update program data, reports, maps, and digital records.
• Assist with grant tracking, reporting, reimbursements, and documentation requirements.
• Support development and delivery of public education materials, community outreach events, and preparedness workshops.
• Provide logistical support for equipment, supplies, signage, and daily field operations.
• Prepare written summaries, report, presentations, and correspondence for supervisors and stakeholders.
• Support the residential assistance programs via documentation, scheduling, and coordination.
• Manage the resident hotline, including phone calls, emails and third-party software to ensure residents have timely information and support.
• Helps assure residents are informed through content creation to be shared via physical and electronic forms.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Customer service principles and  public communication best practices.
• Principles of wildfire behavior, defensible space, home hardening practices, and vegetation management (training can be provided).
• Basic understanding of fire prevention, community risk-reduction, and emergency management concepts.
• Office software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Recordkeeping, project coordination, and workflow management methods.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency using computers, tablets, data-entry systems, and mapping tools.
• Ability to interpret and apply program guidelines, defensible space standards, and work instructions.
• Effective interpersonal skills for working with residents, contractors, and internal staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

• Graduation from high school or equivalent and any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities in qualifying.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• A background in customer service or public service.
• Ability to speak, write, and read Spanish is desired but not necessary.

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. This is a great opportunity to train and develop individuals in a unique, private environment with a dedicated and passionate team to support our mission.

Skywalker Holdings has several locations. The Fire Brigade operates at The Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Nicasio, CA. Skywalker is a private organization that operates 5,000 acres of wildland urban interface land with various types of infrastructure within it. At the Presidio (San Francisco, CA) there are numerous buildings that are also included in the prevention responsibilities. The Ranch operates numerous buildings, smaller organization and other operations within the that support the greater vision of Skywalker Properties Ltd.  

Schedule:

This position will work a semi-flexible 40hr work week as to oversee and manage 3 shifts who are on a 48/96 work schedule. Flexibility is determined by the President and subject to department need as well attending any critical meetings with leadership teams. Remote work hours may be included in the flexibility.

Although rare, there are times when the Chief might have to back-fill staffing and/or provide staffing on apparatus due to non-fillable vacancies or training needs.
