The City of Pacifica is currently recruiting for a Permit Technician to join our team. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the Community Development Department, including providing information to the public.

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Greet/acknowledge customers who contact the Community Development Department while assessing the nature of issues with appropriate and timely responses.

This is a journey-level classification encompassing specialized technical and administrative support within the Police Department. Incumbents are responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of departmental databases, preparation and assembly of detailed reports, support of recruitment processes, contribution to departmental planning initiatives, and provision of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) expertise. This classification demands independent work and the exercise of sound judgment and initiative. The Policy Advisor for Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) leads on all matters related to the County’s social services, public health, behavioral health, and child and senior welfare programs. This individual tracks policies, advocates for equitable investments in District 1, and helps design board actions that enhance public health, general welfare, and access to medical care and social support systems. This position reports to the Director of Policy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze HHSA initiatives and county programs related to the safety net, public health, behavioral health, homeless service, housing development, child welfare, and services for seniors and people with disabilities.
• Draft policy memos, board letters, and recommendations to address systemic inequities.

The hourly wage for this position starts at $22.59. Overtime is expected. 
 
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment. 

 

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Service Office Assistants will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services, or computer experience. At least one election cycles worth of experience in Candidate Filing is preferred as well.
 
Critical Skills include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities organize, and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions. As an Office Assistant it is also integral to have a positive attitude and demonstrate good leadership to assist other members of the team and help ensure day to day operations run smoothly.
 
Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. These positions may require weekend and evening work assignments. The selected individuals must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment.
