The City of Sunnyvale is recruiting for an energetic, creative, and passionate Recreation Services Coordinator 2 – Marketing to join our award-winning Library and Recreation Services Department. This fast-paced role leads marketing and communication strategies that support the department's mission to build a fun, inclusive and engaged community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing, design coordination, content creation and public outreach.

Key responsibilities include production of a monthly activity newsletter and coordination of the seasonal Activity Guide, including editing, working with a contract graphic designer, selecting artwork and managing print production. The position supervises a small marketing team, two part-time, unbenefited staff and a seasonal intern, to create social media content, marketing flyers, outreach materials, and special event collateral. The position also serves on special event committees and plays a key role in marketing and promotional efforts to support community-wide events. Additional responsibilities include managing digital campaigns, maintaining brand guidelines, updating website content and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

Education & Experience 

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

Recreation Services Coordinator II 

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation/leisure, arts administration, hospitality management, human services, public administration, business administration or a related field; AND

Three years of experience similar to a Recreation Services Coordinator I with the City of Sunnyvale.

Under general supervision of the Program Coordinator, staff is responsible for planning and implementing daily age-appropriate activities including crafts, games, songs, drama, storytelling, and supervised play.

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position Camp Manager! In this role, you will plan, organize and administer a City Recreational Summer Camp including program operations, administration, facilities, and recreational programs for campers.

The Camp Manager works at the campsite while the Camp is open and is provided with room and board while at the camp. During non-camping season the Camp Manager performs planning, marketing, and staffing functions for the camp.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, business or public administration or a closely related field; and either:

1. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in recreation or camp programs, which has included at least two (2) years at a supervisory level. Additional recreation or camp experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two (2) years of the education requirement. OR
2. One year experience (or equivalent summer sessions) in a residence recreational summer camp at a level equivalent to the City’s Camp Staff Supervisor.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to travel to various locations within the City of Berkeley and to the camps to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

CPR and first aid certification required at start of the summer season. Ability to get class 1 or 2 water treatment and sewage treatment certifications may be required.

California Public Resources Code Section 5164 prohibits the hiring of a person for employment at a park or recreational facility in a position having supervisory or disciplinary authority over any minor if the person has been convicted of certain criminal offenses. California Education Code Section 10911.5 requires that all public recreation program employers must fingerprint all persons having direct contact with a minor. The City does not hire persons who have been convicted of felony drug, sexual assault or physical assault crimes.

Responsible individual is needed to maintain and enforce proper city procedures and policies for our CAREavan Safe Overnight Parking program. This program allows families and individuals currently living in their vehicles a safe place to park overnight. Safe Overnight Parking Attendants would perform site inspections and enforce site policies, supervise participants, and manage each CAREavan facility.
