The City of Campbell's Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for Public Safety Dispatcher!

Under general supervision, to receive and transmit routine and emergency telephone, radio and computer messages; to keep a variety of police records; and to do related work as required.

Typical Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Answers all telephone calls promptly and courteously;
• Makes rapid and accurate determination of the nature of each call and the degree, severity, and location of any emergency;
• Refers non-emergency callers to the appropriate agency or other resource;
• Questions emergency callers to elicit complete and accurate information necessary for emergency response and enters information in the computer-aided dispatch system;
• Gather information using multiple audio and visual resources;
• Selects emergency response units in exact accordance with established user agency policies and procedures;
• Promptly and properly alerts response units in exact accordance with user agency policies and procedures;
• Maintains current status on all field units;
• Closely monitors any situation presenting a potential danger to the life or safety of field personnel and takes immediate action to dispatch assistance as required;
• Maintains radio contact with field units and enforces proper channel control, discipline, and courtesy;
• Maintains records and logs reflecting the outcome and details of emergency incidents;
• Participates in training and evaluation activities to establish and maintain a high level of proficiency;
• Accesses automated law enforcement systems, inputs data and information, and makes accurate entries into automated record files in accordance with applicable laws, statutes and Department of Justice requirements; and 
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

Knowledge of:

• Standard communications principles and methods for public service dispatch activities;
• Standard office procedures and methods, including filing and the operation of common office equipment;
• Correct English usage, spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Ability to:

• Communicate clearly and concisely with persons under extreme emotional stress;
• Operate a computer aided-dispatch system;

Hours of Work: Public Safety Dispatchers typically work 12 hours shifts, with 4 work days one week and 3 work days the following week.  Shifts available area a day and night shift, or variation, that can rotate every six months.  Dispatchers may have to work weekends, holidays and overtime. 

Special Conditions: Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, on schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours; and a willingness to work overtime as required.

Other Requirements: Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.  All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and may include polygraph and/or psychological testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited high school (GED may be substituted for a high school diploma); plus
• One year of successful full-time responsible experience performing work where the essential functions of the job involved public contact, computer usage or heavy telephone traffic.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office. MRCA offices are spread among multiple buildings and floors and may require traveling up/down steps.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) currently provides over 700 Megawatts of power to residential and business customers within Santa Clara, of which 40 percent of comes from carbon-free renewable resources. In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by operating Thermal Generation facilities utilizing Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, and Cogeneration technologies. It is the mission of SVP to be a progressive, service-oriented utility, offering reliable, competitively priced services for the benefit of Santa Clara and its customers. The Position: 

The Generation Technician performs the hands-on duties required to safely and efficiently operate and maintain the SVP Generation resources.  Under direction from the on-shift Sr. Generation Technician, the Generation Technician performs all manner of mechanical, electrical, and operational activities required for the City’s power generation facilities including:

 

• Controlling City power plants and monitoring remote hydroelectric facilities
• Responding to emergency situations and abnormal operations
• Repairing mechanical pumps, valves, compressors, boilers, HRSG auxiliaries, reduction gears, hydraulic systems, liquid and gas fuel systems, lube oil systems
• Repairing electrical systems, breakers, relays, meters, wiring, and motors
• Organizing and supervising contractors and employees in conducting scheduled and emergency shutdown work

 

Incumbents ensure that for all of the City of Santa Clara’s electric generation power plants that all of the systems and sub-systems are operated and maintained in an efficient, effective, and a safe manner. The Position consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures, and helps to identify and eliminate or actively manage risks in all work activities.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

One of the following education requirements:

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school and
• Four (4) years of electric generation operation and maintenance experience in a medium sized electric generation power plant or the equivalent is required, two (2) years of which must have been at above the entry-level
• Two (2) additional years of electric generation operation and maintenance experience with an electric generation power plant or the equivalent is highly desirable. 
• Three (3) years of operations and maintenance level experience above the entry level with work assignments in the City of Santa Clara combined cycle generation facilities may substitute for the above experience requirements.

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.
 Possession of the following certificates are required within one year of appointment for the duration of the appointment:

• Department of Transportation (DOT) Qualified Operator for Natural Gas Pipeline;
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Qualified Operator for Natural Gas Compressor Station;
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug Testing Program for Natural Gas Pipeline and Compression Station Operator;
• Qualified to wear a respirator;
• Qualified electrical worker, who is qualified to do switching, required within two years of appointment and for the duration of the appointment; and
• Incumbents shall be required to obtain and maintain any other licenses(s) and or certification(s) that may be required by future regulation by Federal, State and/or industry requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Overview:

The Water Plant Operator will perform the duties of a state-designated shift operator in the monitoring and operation of a water treatment plant, to provide relief operations shift coverage and, as necessary, to perform the duties of an Assistant Water Plant Operator. The Water Plant Operator will use the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control plant operations. They will analyze data to ensure compliance with all State and Federal drinking water standards and perform administrative procedures. The Water Plant Operator will train and sign-off training checklists for lower-level operations staff. They will perform scheduled and emergency plant shutdowns and start-ups. Additionally, they will complete safety trainings and follow safety protocols. Please note that this position is based at our Penitencia Water Treatment Plant.

• Serve in the role of Relief Operator on as needed/rotational basis.
• Perform scheduled and emergency plant shutdowns and startups.
• Train lower-level operator staff; sign off on training checklists.

The Seasonal Wildland Firefighter will protect agency parkland and resources and performs a wide variety of skilled park construction, maintenance, and patrol work; assists the public in natural resources interpretation and information; provides fire protection, suppression, vehicle and equipment maintenance. To protect visitors, park land and infrastructures and to insure a safe and peaceful environment for public usage. 

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starter individual who can handle an array of tasks, has good judgement in making decisions, and can work independently or as part of a team. The individual must be able to demonstrate common sense when working on tasks, as well show the ability to come up with possible solutions ideas to issues that they may come across, in areas that may be outside their expertise; be willing to take on uncertain challenges; and learn, understand and follow the chain of command.

The work performed will support MRCA’s operation in fire prevention and protection of life, property and resources within greater Los Angeles and beyond. Candidates must have the ability to be out on an extended attack or a campaign fire assignment anywhere within California, up to 14 days minimum per assignment.

This is a full-time seasonal, non-exempt, at-will position.

This position reports to the Squad Boss of their assigned crew. Assorted tasks may be supervised by others in the leadership structure, including other Squad Bosses, Captains, and Chiefs as needed. The position supervises no other staff immediately, however opportunities to supervises others may arise, within the abilities of the individual.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Performs extensive weed abatement to reduce fire hazards and for native revegetation; with use of tractor, chain saw, weed whacker, spraying herbicide or use of hand tools, in/on a variety of landscape types and topographies.
• Provides information to park visitors on park features, natural resources, historical interpretation, safety, and rules.  May lead interpretive hikes.
• Constructs and repairs park facilities such as fencing, restrooms, gates, kiosks.
• Install and maintain park water distribution and suppression systems.
• Directs volunteer crews such as trail crews, community service workers, and the volunteer Mounted Assistance Units. Coordinate with organized public groups utilizing park facilities.
• Assesses any natural or manmade hazards on parkland; warns public, removes or ameliorates hazards if possible.
• Maintains developed park grounds, facilities, trails; operates tractors, trucks, chain saws, other power tools needed for park maintenance.
• Assists crew personnel and others as directed.
• Respond to emergency situations on parkland to protect life, property and resource.
• Patrol and protect park lands, inform the provisions of the Public Resources Code, other codes, ordinances, etc. or writing incident reports as necessary.
• Protects park visitors and structures in wildland fire situations (visitor evacuation), operate pumps, fill tanks, hose layout, line-cutting, water and foam lay-down, etc.
• Assist in emergency search and rescue efforts on parkland, in a wide variety of terrain including steep slopes, canyons, and creeks. Coordinate action with the local authorities as necessary due to the nature of the emergency, i.e., brush fire, flood, etc.
• Coordinate with outside agency crews working on parkland.
• Perform heavy physical labor; including lifting and carrying items weighing up to but not limited to 90 pounds a distance of up to but not limited to 50 feet.
• Operate with substantial independence and coordinate work with others in completing assignments.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on agency vehicles and other equipment.
• Ability to be out on an extended attack or a campaign fire assignment anywhere within California up to 14 days minimum.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 45 pounds or more, outdoors, in different weather situations up to three miles (Pack Test – Arduous Position).

Must be able to constantly work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently operate brushing and firefighting equipment and tools, frequently move about work sites, communicate and exchange information, observe site conditions, transport equipment and tools between vehicles and work sites on a daily basis, and occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to access areas of work.

Individuals will be assigned to one of the three (3) crew schedules; Crew 2 (Wed-Sat), Crew 3 (Sun-Wed), or Crew 4 (Sat/Sun/Tu/Wed) shift, working 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings, nights,  weekends, and holidays upon prior approval by supervisor. This position will work out of Holiday Camp Fire Station in Calabasas but may be required to travel to various other locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Overview:

Valley Water’s Office of District Counsel seeks a senior-level attorney to be the primary attorney on all labor and employment functions, draft and negotiate inter-agency agreements, and advise the Board, its committees, and staff on broad, agency-level policies and procedures. The Senior Assistant District Counsel will be one of three senior assistant counsels reporting to the District Counsel and will be designated as unclassified/at-will. This attorney role offers ongoing, time-sensitive legal support to Valley Water operations and its long-term strategic goals. This position is vital for addressing Valley Water's labor and employment law requirements. The incumbent also carries significant responsibility for public agency financing matters, making experience in that field a huge plus.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Day-to-day support of Valley Water's labor and employment law matters, including but not limited to employee discipline, grievances, internal investigations, and compliance matters as well as first-chair representation in labor arbitrations and administrative hearings.
• Second-chair management of employment litigation matters (“first-chair” experience is a plus).
• Assisting management with labor negotiations, including service on “second table” negotiating teams (“first table” experience is a plus). 
• Other operational support to the Valley Water business includes contract reviews, real estate transactions, and agreements with other government entities.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one (1) individual to serve as a Psychiatrist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Clinic. The Psychiatrist I/II will provide medical and psychiatric treatment and diagnostic services to clients in the caseload of Tri-City and provide collaborative work with a multidisciplinary team in a public mental health agency. Provide integrated, effective, and high quality behavioral health care to the residents of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne with moderate to severe functional impairment due to mental illness.

• Perform intake and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergent basis.
• Participate in diagnostic staff evaluation of clients.
• Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients.
