DESCRIPTION
Water Distribution Operators inspect and repair water meters and water service lines; monitor and record meter readings of water consumption levels and assist with related adjustments as needed; collect and transport water samples for lab analysis; conduct bacteriological testing and monitors chlorine levels; coordinate and monitor construction and improvement projects; conduct inventory and order parts; program pump stations; and perform other duties as assigned. 

As experience is gained and certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to advance up to a Water Distribution Operator III is possible without having to participate in additional recruitment and testing processes with the City.

THE DEPARTMENT:
The Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) is a unique part of the Hayward Police Department where police officers and professional counselors work side by side offering a variety of services to the residents of Hayward. THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Family Counselor in a limited term and permanent full-time vacancy.  Under general direction, the Family Counselor provides crisis intervention, counseling, and referral services to youth, families, and individuals and performs other related duties as required, such as school based, case management, and gang prevention/intervention services. 

The current vacancies are for a limited term position as well as a permanent full-time opportunity.  Future vacancies can also be filled by the resulting eligible list. The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program.  Funding has already been secured through FY2025 (June 30, 2025) and there is potential for the position to become permanent in FY2026. 

 
You are: 
The ideal candidate has experience providing short-term family counseling and case management services to youth and their families who are involved in the juvenile justice system or at elevated risk for involvement.  They are skilled at completing safety assessments and intervening with people experiencing mental health crisis.  They have the ability to work well across disciplines, particularly with law enforcement and other emergency response teams and in schools.  They are knowledgeable about local community resources and skilled at forming relationships quickly.

What you will do:  

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Provides crisis intervention services to youth, families, individuals, and couples including but not limited to crises involving incorrigible youth, dependent children under the court's custody, domestic violence, first time offenders, and the hospitalization of individuals dangerous to self and others.
 
Provides counseling to youth, families, couples, individuals and groups.
 
Maintains crisis intake log, case files and service statistics.
 
Provides referral information to the public, and other agencies.

Participates in division, department, community and school meetings.

Provides support service, consultation and training to patrol officers on juvenile and mental health topics.
 
Provides case management services to youth and their families.
 
Provides school based services to students and their families, including consultation and training for school administrators and teachers, implementation of school climate initiatives, and coordination of site-based student support services.
 
Provides gang prevention and intervention services to at risk and gang involved youth and their families.
 
Maintains formal and informal liaison with mental health professionals and service providers including courts, schools, private therapists, hospitals, probation and other agencies.
 
Provides emergency psychological evaluation and recommendations.
 
Responds to critical incidents and other in-field emergency situations.
 
Performs related work as necessary.

JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS  

You have:  

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to that which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Experience:    One (1) year providing counseling or psychotherapy to youth, families, groups and individuals.  Experience with probation involved or at-risk youth and experience with school based mental health services are highly desirable; experience working in school settings is highly desirable.
 
OR
 
One (1) academic year of graduate level internship experience. One (1) relevant clinical internship placement is desirable.

Education:  Equivalent to a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work or a closely related field or a Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. (Note: Applicants with a related Master's Degree in progress are also encouraged to apply. Selected candidate will need to provide proof of graduate degree completion by the start date of employment.)

License:  Possession of a valid License in Marriage and Family Therapy (L.M.F.T.), Licensed Clinical Social Work (L.C.S.W.), Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C), Licensed Clinical Psychologist or a closely related field is highly desirable.

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position Camp Manager! In this role, you will plan, organize and administer a City Recreational Summer Camp including program operations, administration, facilities, and recreational programs for campers.

The Camp Manager works at the campsite while the Camp is open and is provided with room and board while at the camp. During non-camping season the Camp Manager performs planning, marketing, and staffing functions for the camp.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, business or public administration or a closely related field; and either:

1. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in recreation or camp programs, which has included at least two (2) years at a supervisory level. Additional recreation or camp experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two (2) years of the education requirement. OR
2. One year experience (or equivalent summer sessions) in a residence recreational summer camp at a level equivalent to the City’s Camp Staff Supervisor.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to travel to various locations within the City of Berkeley and to the camps to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

CPR and first aid certification required at start of the summer season. Ability to get class 1 or 2 water treatment and sewage treatment certifications may be required.

California Public Resources Code Section 5164 prohibits the hiring of a person for employment at a park or recreational facility in a position having supervisory or disciplinary authority over any minor if the person has been convicted of certain criminal offenses. California Education Code Section 10911.5 requires that all public recreation program employers must fingerprint all persons having direct contact with a minor. AC Transit is seeking a Market Research Project Manager II. Under general direction serves as the project manager leading a variety of complex market research projects, functions, and activities. Incumbents in this position provide actionable data-driven insight informing and aligning strategic business decisions with customer sentiment.

This classification is distinguished from other marketing and communications classifications by the assigned project management responsibilities leading District-wide, market research projects and studies of considerable size and complexity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field directly related to the area to which assigned. For the Market Research Project Manager position the following are applicable fields of study: business administration, sociology, statistics, market research, communications, public administration, marketing, or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Six (6) years of experience in the professional field required by the assigned special projects. The Market Research Project Manager position requires experience in developing and implementing market research, marketing, public information, or communications programs with an emphasis on data collection, market analysis, and detailing the customer journey or two (2) years that involved responsibilities at a level equivalent to the District's classification of Project Manager I. Years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a two for one basis; two (2) years of experience may be submitted for one (1) year of education).
