What You’ll Do

To conduct inspections of routine and intricate structural and building systems during different phases of construction, modification, and repair projects; to collaborate with other departments and conduct investigations to ensure adherence to housing, zoning, environmental, and overall land use regulations; to assist in the examination of building plans and specifications; to maintain accurate records utilizing software and computer systems; and to perform related tasks as necessary.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES ‑ Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Building Inspector I/II

• Conduct combination field inspections of industrial, commercial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling; ensure proper and safe installations of routine and complex building systems; ensure building progress conforms to all applicable California Building Standards (Title 24, California Code of Regulations), City adopted codes and ordinances, and pertinent provisions of Federal, State and County health and environmental ordinances.
• Respond to emergencies when called upon by supervisor, or emergency dispatchers, to assist as technical expert in evaluation of safety.
• Issue permits for work to be performed.
• Review plans and specifications.
• Assist in the plan checking of residential and commercial projects.
• Participate in Fire Department and County Health Department inspections as required in one or more inspection disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, or mechanical.
• Coordinate inspection activities with other City departments to ensure compliance with conditions attached to projects by the Development Review Board, the Planning Commission or the City Council.
• Conduct inspections with the Code Enforcement officers to verify complaints and/or conditions violating building and zoning codes; conduct follow up inspections to check and verify that conditions are completed.
• Conduct inspections, prepare reports and serve as needed to assist the City Attorney in legal actions initiated by the Building Division.
• Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints regarding the City's building inspection function.
• Advise property owners, contractors, and others on matters relevant to construction and repair methods and materials; interprets codes and regulations and explains inspection programs; investigates and resolves complaints and problems.
• Retrieve, investigate and analyze building, assessor's parcels, files and other computerized records from computer database as required.
• Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field and office; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions; review reports from special inspection agencies, engineers, and architects relating to specific projects.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records and prepare reports.
• Monitor compliance, including after violations.
• Provide public assistance and information over the counter.
• Conduct review of complex technical documents for conformance with accuracy, industry standards, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Prepare reports, warning letters, citations, calculations, analysis, grants, diagrams, or technical materials for City, City Committees, public vendor, state and federal filings, and advisory reports.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures and make recommendations on programs and projects.

THE POSITION

The main role for this position of Cybersecurity Analyst I/II will focus on Cybersecurity. The candidate that fills the role will assist in defining enterprise cybersecurity policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a robust and current cybersecurity program. They will also be responsible to monitor and analyze cybersecurity incident-related data and determine the appropriate response.

DEFINITION

Cybersecurity Analyst I: Under general supervision, provides professional level work, including the design, implementation, evaluation, and daily management of security systems and solutions; and performs duties related to threat detection and prevention, education, risk assessment, compliance, governance, business recovery, forensics, and incident response. This position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic, public service-oriented environment. Other duties would include but not limited to assisting Network Administrators with items relating to the Network Administrator position.

Cybersecurity Analyst II: Under limited supervision, provides advanced level work, including the design, implementation, evaluation, and daily management of security systems and solutions; and performs duties related to threat detection and prevention, education, risk assessment, compliance, governance, business recovery, forensics, and incident response. This position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic, public service-oriented environment. Other duties would include but not limited to aiding other Network Administrators with items relating to the Network Administrator position. Positions in this class require frequent use of a high degree of independent judgment and interpretative ability.

Positions in the Cybersecurity Analyst II classification are flexibly staffed and normally filled from advancement from the Cybersecurity Analyst I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific cybersecurity technology experience. Appointment to this class requires the employee to be performing substantially the full range of Cybersecurity Analyst II duties and to meet the qualifications for the class. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers (Lateral.)  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. What You’ll Do
The Assistant/Associate Transportation Planner performs professional transportation planning work; conduct and review transportation impact studies; prepare plans, studies, and reports; and to do related work as required. 

Assistant Transportation Planner - The Assistant Transportation Planner is an entry level class in the transportation planning series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Transportation Planner by the performance of the less complex tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including assignments in the fields of multi-modal transportation associated projects, master plans, specific plans, policies, and programs. Assignments are generally limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees. However, as experience is acquired, the employee performs with increasing independence. Since this class is typically used as a continued training class, employees may have only limited work experience. This classification receives general supervision from the Parking Manager, or a higher-level position.

Associate Transportation Planner - The Associate Transportation Planner is a journey level class that performs duties relating to multi-modal transportation and associated projects, master plans, specific plans, policies, and programs. This class is distinguished from the Assistant Transportation Planner by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including complex plans review, policy development, and advance report preparation. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment exercised on diverse and specialized assignments. It is further distinguished by its major program management responsibilities. Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Review and analyze land development projects including but not limited to VMT, TDM, LOS, parking compliance and other transportation related issues.

• Assist the day-to-day operations of the City’s 3,000+ on and off-street public parking spaces in downtown San Mateo along with public parking spaces in other commercial areas such as 25th Avenue. Duties may include responding to resident inquiries, evaluating new RPPP program area applications, conducting parking occupancy studies, assisting in permit data analysis, establish new public/private lease agreements and participating in community meetings. 

• Provide recommendations resulting from the analysis of alternative transportation system improvements; forecast and prepare transportation capital improvement program project lists. 

• Assist in the compliance of the circulation element of the General Plan, and the City's component of any county or regional transportation plan; provide information and technical support necessary for the development of the City's Transportation Demand Management program. 

• Prepare and/or review reports and studies related to the functioning, improvement and impacts on the transportation system. This may include the evaluation of alternative network improvements and the impacts of proposed or forecasted land development projects.

• Provide support for grant-funding to deliver transportation capital improvements projects, in coordination with Caltrans, San Mateo County Transportation Authority, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and other agencies; identify and pursue grant funding opportunities in support of transportation related goals for the City.

• May review and check the work of subordinate personnel on specific projects for technical accuracy. May obtain consultants and manage consultant contracts.

• Work with other jurisdictions, congestion management agencies, citizens, business, or professional organizations as necessary. 

• Assist other sections, divisions, or departments on matters related to transportation planning. 

• Develop requests for proposals for parking services, equipment, and technology in coordination with the Police Department. 

• Prepare administrative reports and make presentations to the Sustainability and Infrastructure Committee, City Council, various committees, and advisory boards as directed. 

• Research and draft ordinances and policy for review. 

• Prepare initial studies; coordinate the preparation or review of environmental impact reports; participate in coordinating City planning activities with outside departments. 

• Collect, record and summarize statistical and demographic information; establish and maintain a comprehensive database.

• Perform related duties as assigned.
