The City of East Palo Alto is seeking a skilled, passionate individual to fill one full-time Assistant/ Associate Engineer position. The Assistant/ Associate Engineer performs professional engineering field and office work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the City’s capital improvement projects, land development, traffic engineering, public works infrastructure, and daily departmental operations. The incumbent will prepare and review designs, specifications, and related engineering and construction documents. The individual will provide assistance related to consultant requests for proposals for professional and/or construction services. The Assistant/ Associate Engineer will confer with developers, contractors, other engineers, and the general public. The successful candidate will perform a variety of studies and prepare and present staff reports; and perform related duties, as assigned. The City will hire at either the Assistant or Associate level, depending on the qualifications held by the pool of candidates.

Education : Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

 

Experience:

Deputy Probation Officer I ($43.07/hr-$53.84/hr) - One year of experience in a human services capacity involving communicating and interacting with a diverse population either on an individual or group basis for the purpose of interviewing, counseling or rehabilitating, such as in the role of an institutional counselor, peace officer, or mental health or social services professional.

 

Deputy Probation Officer II ($48.09/hr-$60.07/hr) - Two years of experience performing duties comparable to those of an entry level Deputy Probation Officer I in San Mateo County.

There are currently various vacancies in the Probation department. Depending on qualifications, the vacancy may be filled at the Deputy Probation Officer I or Deputy Probation Officer II level.

Selected candidates must be available to work flexible shifts, including graveyards, day shift, swing shift, weekends and holidays at any of the Probation Department locations. Selected candidates must also successfully pass a background investigation, including fingerprints, medical examination, psychological evaluation, a truth verification test and be free from any physical, emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a Peace Officer. Felony and misdemeanors convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Deputy Probation Officers I must complete 200 hours of core probation officer training coursework within one year of appointment.

Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Selection Examination for the Deputy Probation Officer I/II position. If you have taken the BSCC exam within the last six months at another agency and you would like to utilize that T-score, please attach your exam results to the application. Deputy Probation Officer II is the journey level class of this series. The III level may also mentor or train other staff in areas in which they possess expertise, provide lead direction or substitute for the supervisor on a short-term basis.

 

Successful candidates must have two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer AND have successfully completed a California POST OR STC-certified P.C. 832 Arrest and Control course AND a STC-certified Probation Officer Core course to qualify.

 

IMPORTANT: Individuals who are not currently employed full-time as a Deputy Probation Officer but have a minimum of two years of full-time experience in a California County Probation Department should not have a separation date greater than six months from the date of application.

 

To qualify for this position, you must possess all of the following:

• Two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

About The County

Central County Fire Department is looking for Firefighters!

 

 

San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience:

• In family practice addressing chronic disease management

• In the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

• With the underserved population, including those who are homeless

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Demonstrate the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a small team in often challenging environments (e.g., homeless encampments, shelters, extreme weather, individuals under the influence, or those with mental health challenges).

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Outreach to and build long-term, trust-based relationships with vulnerable populations.

• Assess patients’ physical, emotional, and social status through medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic screenings; evaluate clinical findings and lab results.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Refer urgent issues beyond scope to appropriate specialists.

• Collaborate with other health professionals following protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of paid experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting.

Licensure

• Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned services including human resources administration, library development, library service plan, outreach and marketing and is involved in the planning, implementing, and managing of new technologies.
• Monitors and evaluates the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service delivery methods and procedures for the department.
• Reviews the work plan for the Supervising Librarians and Supervising Library Assistant; meets with each to identify and resolve problems.

• Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence; reviews internal policies and procedures; develops content for press releases and other material for dissemination to the public.
• Represents the City and Library in the community, within the Peninsula Library System, and at professional meetings and committees, as necessary.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Information Systems Manager, this position provides system support during implementation and ongoing support after implementation including report writing, configuration, routine inquiries and user support for the District’s various enterprise technology systems including UKG Pro Workforce Management Time & Attendance and Central Square Technologies Finance Enterprise.   The Business Information Systems Engineer works with end-users, vendors, and members of the Information Systems Department to identify, analyze, and resolve systems issues and provide maximum capability and satisfaction to users.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical lead of the enterprise application

San Mateo County Health- San Mateo Medical Center seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator I in the Patient Access Division. The current vacancy is a full-time, limited term vacancy. The duration of the assignment will last about 6 months.

 

Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide support to over 150 Patient Services Assistants across various departments, including Emergency, Admitting, Long-Term Care, Same-Day Surgery, and will average 27 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) sites with 8-16 hours of weekly program refresher training on several publicly sponsored coverage options.

 

Additionally, this position will assist the team with several EPIC post-go-live projects, and work queues as we work to revamp processes and enhance collaboration for improved workflows and revenue-generating process efficiencies.

DEFINITION

Library Assistant I: Under direct supervision, performs technical and clerical library work related to the variety of activities associated with the acquisition, processing and circulation of library materials and assistance to patrons in the use of materials, services and library computers. This class is distinguished from the Library Assistant II by performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Library Assistant series.

 

Library Assistant II: Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of technical and clerical library work related to such activities as the acquisition, processing, cataloging, and circulation of library materials and assistance to patrons in the use of materials, services and computers. This is a full journey level position within the Library Assistant series and is distinguished from the Library Assistant I by the performance of the full range of duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. Employees in this class may be assigned to work without direct supervision in a small branch and may be directed to provide technical and clerical supervision over less experienced staff.

 

Under the flexible staffing concept, Library Assistant II positions that become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Library Assistant I level for training purposes.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Library Assistant I’s work with an automated system to order, check out and receive materials, register patrons, and collect fees and fines; process and repair books and other library materials; assist in the maintenance of manual and automated files; answer routine inquires; assist patrons in using library computers and in locating print and non-print materials; perform routine clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and answering the telephone; assist with programming, displays, and special projects; may retrieve and shelve materials; and perform other related duties as required.

 

Library Assistant II’s may perform Library Assistant I duties but will also participate in the creation and maintenance of manual and automated files; assist in the preparation and processing of orders for library materials; catalog materials; compile data and prepare summary activity reports; answer basic reference questions, referring higher level or more complicated questions to appropriate staff; locate books and other materials using indexes and catalogs; assist in formulating and enforcing local library policies and procedures; troubleshoot and correct computer problems; may assign routine tasks and provide instruction to aides and pages; and perform other related duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Library materials, services, and terminology; modern office procedures and methods including filing and use of personal computers; customer service skills; and basic business arithmetic at the Library Assistant I level. Library organization and familiarity with computer applications and automated library systems at the Library Assistant II level.

Physical capability to: perform such physical tasks as lifting and moving library materials, stooping, reaching, and walking up and down stairs.

 

Experience: 

Library Assistant I: Equivalent of one year of full-time employment performing general clerical or related work, desirably in a public library or other organization requiring considerable public contact. College training may be substituted for the required work experience on the basis of 25 college semester units being equivalent to six months of experience.

Library Assistant II: Two years of employment, using automated, on-line library systems, at the Library Assistant I level or equivalent, desirably in a public library. Part time experience may be qualifying and will be prorated to full time equivalent.

 

Education: 

Library Assistant I: High school graduation or the equivalent. Clerical or specialized college level courses in library science, computing, or business desirable.

 

Library Assistant II: High school graduation or equivalent and possession of an AA degree or completion of the equivalent of two years (50 semester units) of college level courses. Library experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
