The Engineering Division plays a crucial role in maintaining the City’s reputation for excellence in infrastructure development, planning, and community enhancement.
The Public Works Department is made up of four divisions: Engineering, Building Inspection, Maintenance, and Environmental Services. The City Engineer will be a key leadership position oversees the Engineering Division, ensuring the efficient delivery of public works projects, transportation initiatives, and infrastructure improvements that enhance the quality of life for our residents.
The incumbent in this position will be instrumental in directing the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects, overseeing both city-led developments and private sector contributions. This includes the review and approval of subdivision maps, street designs, stormwater management, and adherence to city and state standards for engineering projects. As a vital contributor to the City’s long-term development, the City Engineer will manage the City's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), ensuring that infrastructure projects are aligned with the needs of our growing community.

This position reports to the Public Works Director and supervises a talented team of professional, technical, and paraprofessional staff. The City Engineer will also act in the absence of the Public Works Director, providing crucial leadership and decision-making in the department.
A few key aspects of this position are:
Leadership & Supervision: Direct the activities of the Engineering Division by assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of staff and ensure that city projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with legal requirements.
Project Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of major street, transportation, and capital projects through plan and specification review, bidding process management, and construction and inspection.
Capital Improvement Management: Administer the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), including project selection, budget oversight, and coordination with City Council and other stakeholders.
