The City of Thousand Oaks is currently accepting applications to fill 3 part-time openings in the Public Works department: 2 in our Water division and 1 in our Wastewater division. Under supervision, the Public Works Utilities Aide (Hourly City Worker) will perform a variety of duties in support of Public Works staff.
Part-time work schedules are approximately 20-25 hour per week and may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities vary based on the division.
Water:
Assist with a variety of routine assignments and day-to-day tasks under the guidance of the Public Works utilities maintenance team, including:
- Fire hydrant maintenance
- Valve exercise program
- Air-Vac and blow-off maintenance
- Maintenance at the Municipal Service Center (MSC)'s pump station and reservoirs
- Inputting data into the MSC's work order system, MaintStar
- Meter reading, changing out meter registers and cellular endpoints, and moving to an AMI reading system
Wastewater:
Assist with a variety of routine assignments and day-to-day tasks under the guidance of the Public Works utilities maintenance team, including:
- Hydro cleaning maintenance
- CCTV inspections
- Canyon inspections
- Maintenance hole inspections
- Lift station maintenance
- Entering maintenance activity data into GIS, MaintStar, ArcGIS, and WinCan systems
