We currently have four vacancies at the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Facilities. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Correctional Health Services (CHS) therapists provide clinical mental health services utilizing Trauma Informed Care to inmates with mental illness, serious mental illness, or substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness, serious mental illness, and chemical dependency. They also provide case management services and discharge planning by interviewing inmate patients to assess mental health needs and formulate treatment plans. They function as a team member in a multi-disciplinary work setting where they collaborate with Sheriff's Office staff to manage inmate patients' daily activities. The Ideal Candidate will possess

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist.
• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities as they pertain to the justice involved adult population.
• Experience providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness.

• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, the Sheriff’s office, collaborative partners and the public.
• Extensive knowledge of available community resources within the County of San Mateo and its neighboring counties.
• Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN, Epic).
• Fluency in any of the threshold languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) or Russian and experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills.

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS) is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Occupational Therapist II - Therapeutic Day Schools.

The mental health Occupational Therapy within the Therapeutic Day Schools (TDS) program assists youth in acquiring skills needed to function in their life roles of student and worker. As the students in the TDS program progress toward graduation they are then linked with the Department of Rehabilitation for assessment and counseling for future placement. The Occupational Therapist also provides treatment through the use of arts and crafts activities. The focus of this "activity" based treatment is the development of pre-vocational skills: pro-social and task skills.

Occupation Therapy services in the TDS unit are provided in two general areas: direct and indirect services. These services function to prepare the young person for the roles of a student, performance of age-appropriate daily living behaviors and ultimately the transition to worker, college student, or vocational training.

The Occupational Therapy program addresses: independent living skills, pre-vocational skills, socialization skills, recreation and leisure activities, and transition activities as outlined in the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The Therapeutic Day School unit is comprised of two separate school programs serving high school aged special education students in the Jefferson High School District, and South San Francisco Unified School District. Each TDS program is a collaboration between that designated high school district. TDS students are certified special education students who have been evaluated and determined in need of intensive mental health services in order to benefit from their education. The core staff is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including both mental health and educational staff. The TDS program works in close collaboration with outside service providers such as probation, social services, education, Wrap- Around service providers and other mental health contract agencies.

The Therapeutic Day School BHRS Staff include a Clinical Services Manager (1), Supervising Mental Health Clinician (1), Psychiatric Social Workers / Marriage and Family Therapists (2), Creative Arts Therapist (1), Occupational Therapist (1), Psychiatrist (1) and Medical Office Assistant (1). District special education staff include the Special Education Director (1), Program Specialist (1), Special Education Teacher (1 or 2), and Teaching Associates (1 or 2).

The ideal candidates will have:

• Experience working with adolescents in a mental health setting
• Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
• Experience working with special education students and participating in the IEP process
• Familiarity with normal adolescent development
• Familiarity with psychiatric disorders as defined in the DSM V manual
• Ability to provide treatment to youth who have co-occurring substance use issues
• Ability to structure and effectively run activity-based groups with teenagers

Responsibilities will include:

• Assessment and development of a treatment plan that links to the BHRS client treatment plan.
• Coordinating and implementing the TDS program's Occupational Therapy program, including group treatment, individual treatment, linkage to various agencies, and consultation to staff and families.
• Continual evaluation of youth capacities and deficits, and the students' response to treatment including the measurement of change and development.
• Conduct assessments, share findings and make appropriate recommendations.
• Collaborate and coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team which includes special education staff and mental health staff in order to provide comprehensive treatment to youth in the TDS program.
• Participate in milieu therapy and enforce the behavior management system.
• Provide consultation and support to families and staff as needed.
• Provide education and training to staff as needed.
• Liaison with community agencies to assess, implement or coordinate services.
• Work closely with district vocational support staff to assist students in transitioning to the role of worker.
• Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings by completing and monitoring progress of the Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

 Licensure/Certification: 

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

Library Aides provide customer service to library visitors. Duties include checking items in and out at the Checkout Desk, opening new library accounts, collecting fines and fees, shelving materials, and assisting library visitors in finding materials and using the computers. Other tasks may include processing materials, providing storytimes for children, and assisting with other public programs for children, teens and adults. The Position:
This is complex lead level work involved in a central purchasing department related to the procurement of goods and services, including preparation of formal bid documents, facilitation of the activities of the bid process, selection of vendors, volume buying, inventory, assessing availability and quality of goods and services, and routine to complex procurements for the entire District according to prescribed methods. Position Summary

 

Under supervision, performs inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, removal, replacement and testing necessary to maintain all District vehicles, including record keeping and written verification of work accomplished as directed. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Responsible for major rebuilding, repair and/or removal and replacement of engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, turbochargers, pumps, motors, injectors, cylinder heads, compressors and hydraulic systems, air brake, air systems, steering, air conditioning, and electrical systems and associated vehicle parts.
• Provides minor and incidental repairs to vehicles in general, including manufacture and/or repair of components to maintain equipment.
• Performs ongoing preventive maintenance, inspections and procedures, as directed, to provide the safest, cleanest, most economical and dependable transportation possible for District utilization.
• Provides normal and reasonable care of all District-owned property and tools provided
• Directly responsible for written communication concerning ongoing status of repairs completed, repairs in progress and outstanding repairs necessary to safely and economically provide vehicles for District transportation needs.
• Participates in general repairs necessary to all mechanical equipment supplementary to vehicle repairs and maintenance as directed.
• Generates and completes work orders in a Computerized Asset Management System (IBM Maximo).
• Assists apprentice mechanics, new employees and current employees in pursuing a high level of production, reliability and safety.
• Adheres to the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service. 
• Performs additional related duties as assigned 
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience: 1) Completion of four (4) year apprenticeship program or approved equivalent; OR four years’ full-time experience in the repair of heavy duty diesel engines, air brakes, transmissions, differentials, and D.C. electrical; 2) Experience in the operation of machine tools common to repair shops, such as grinders, drill press, valve facers, lathes, boring bars, presses, etc.

 

Required License:  Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No more than two moving violations within the last 3 years. No DUI’s or Reckless Driving violations within the last 7 years. Must be able to obtain a Class A or B license with “P” endorsement within the six-month introductory/probationary period. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis.

 

REQUIRED TOOLS:

• Must have a full set of journey level hand tools to accomplish assigned work.

  

HOURS:

• Shifts are scheduled based on seniority in classification.
• Maintenance Department operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day.
• Must be available to work all shifts.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. maximum with assistance.  Frequently lift, carry and manipulate up to 50 pounds. Working inside and outside in all weather conditions. Works around fumes, odors and dust in an occasionally high noise level environment with appropriate personal protective equipment.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: 

• Common maintenance and repair practices related to heavy duty diesel engine, transmission, steering, electrical, electronic controls, air, hydraulic, brake, fuel and power train systems 
• Common maintenance and repair practices relating to multiplex and programmable logic controller electronic control systems
• District Policies and Labor Agreement (MOU) Provisions
• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position 

 

Skills or Ability to: 

• Use grinders, drill press, diagnostic computers, digital volt/ohm meters, smog testing equipment and other tools and equipment commonly found in a bus/truck fleet shop environment
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and/or replace components common to bus, truck, and automotive equipment fleets
• Read, understand, follow and/or apply oral and written instructions such as complex technical instructions in maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical service publications
• Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing 
• Establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships 
• Perform computerized data entry and basic business office technology functions such as use of email, data entry, work order processing and materials requisition

Our current openings are in the Recreation Division and may be in the areas of the Afterschool Youth Recreation Program, Aquatics Program or Facility Attendant. This position will report directly to the Recreation Program Coordinator or Recreation Program Supervisor and will work various hours throughout the week, including evenings and weekends

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, a Recreator III independently performs assigned tasks which serve the public use of municipal recreation facilities and other duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Open and close facilities following established guidelines, set up equipment needed for facility programs, perform routine maintenance and cleanup for assigned facilities, collect fees for facility use, maintain order and discipline in assigned facilities and programs by enforcing City and Departmental policies, may facilitate in assigned program areas, may supervise other part-time staff, volunteers, or court workers as assigned, and maintain accurate records and reports. May include specific assignments such as senior swim instructor, senior lifeguard, facility attendant and assisting with after school or summer programs. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: General facility operations, intermediate lesson instruction techniques for assigned area, and safety practices for assigned programs.

Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions, meet and communicate effectively with members of the public, carry out assignments requiring average physical strength such as setting up tables and chairs, learn and progress in this position, direct others, understand and enforce written and oral rules, regulations and policies, solve minor disciplinary problems, interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Experience: A minimum of two years working or volunteering with people in a customer service position.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License is desirable.

Certification:  Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required to work in the Aquatics area as a lifeguard.  Possession of an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is desirable to work in the Aquatics area as swim instructor.

Educate patrons in water safety, provide patrons with a safe aquatic environment, perform lifeguard secondary duties, and instruct swim lessons. Promote aquatic programs, assisting senior guard, and aquatics assistant. Conduct rescue operations and administer CPR and First Aid. Direct communication and contact with swimmers and the public.

Knowledge of:

Basic child guidance principles and practices. General techniques of various swim strokes.

Ability to:

Be active, lift and/or carry equipment and supplies. Work in a leadership role with children and adults

Emphasis Three: YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER:

Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation; including observation notes, logs, and other records. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor

The Position:
The Accountant performs professional work involved in first line supervision of accounting functions, complex account development, maintenance, modification, and reporting. Under direction, the position is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles to analyze, maintain, reconcile and verify a variety of budgetary, accounting and other fiscal records. The position supervises daily operations in a variety of functional accounting areas and maintains adequate oversight and internal controls over such operations. Public contact is extensive and involves staff at various levels within the organization, local government agencies and other outside entities for the purpose of exchanging technical accounting procedural and policy information. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to analyze data and develop resolutions to a variety of minor and major problems that occur. The consequences of errors in judgment can be costly in employee time, public relations and/or institutional funding; however, administrative controls limit the risk of serious consequences in loss of revenue.
