The Position

 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety. Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This is a per-diem position. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, and per-diem employees may choose the open shifts that are available. Available shifts may include day, swing, or graveyard hours, including weekends, and holidays. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions. This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department. 

 

Examples of Duties

 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: process warrants; assist in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
   

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Certificates and Licenses

 

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Dispatch Certificate is required.

• Possess excellent vision and hearing skills, with ability to sit, talk, type, hear, and walk for extended periods of time as well as lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

 

Supplemental Information

 

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, with the exception of paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Special Events and Cultural Arts is responsible for leading the planning, production, and oversight of the City’s signature special events, while also supporting Redwood City’s cultural arts programming. The Patient Services Supervisor-Hospital Billing and Follow Up is responsible for:

• Supervising and managing A/R (accounts receivable) follow-up staff.
• Ensuring timely and effective insurance and patient account collections.

Education and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public policy, sociology, education, ethnic studies, public relations, social work, public health, public administration, or a related field, includes trainings and education specific to issues related to racial and social equity.

Definition

Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex technical accounting support duties in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting and financial transactions, including payroll, general accounting, and financial reporting; and performs related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Assistant Finance Director.  Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

 

Class Characteristics

This is the advanced-level classification in the Accounting Technician series responsible for performing the most complex work assigned to the series.  Incumbents regularly work on tasks which are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment.  Positions in the classification rely on experience and judgment to perform assigned duties in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.  Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines and methods to complete assignments.  Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.  This class is distinguished from the Assistant Finance Director in that the latter has full management and supervisory authority in planning, organizing, and directing the full scope of accounting and finance operations within the department.

• Receives, reviews, verifies, and processes time recording documents to prepare payroll for all Town employees; audits documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with rules and regulations; prepares and balances payroll reports and records.
• Processes, calculates, and maintains records of a variety of personnel transactions and payroll actions; maintains employee records for voluntary and non-voluntary deductions; sets up, analyzes, and maintains pay, deduction, and tax codes; uploads direct deposit file; prepares journal entries of payroll transactions for posting to the general ledger.

• Researches and interprets payroll, accounting, and financial information and materials for various reports and year-end auditing, reconciliation, and closing processes; compiles, reconciles, and verifies information and prepares various payroll, accounting, financial, budget, and state and federal mandated reports, schedules, statements, and analyses; generates and distributes routine monthly revenue and expenditure reports.
• Reconciles receipts from cash register report; processes bank deposits; allocates funds to correct accounts; balances and reconciles accounts; and maintains petty cash.
• Prepares, processes, and issues various bills and invoices; sets up customer accounts; sets up and maintains billing codes; monitors past due accounts and sends to collections as appropriate.
• Generates and analyzes water usage reports; identifies usage patterns, inconsistencies, and discrepancies; recommends field investigations; and recommends account adjustments.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and detailed accounting and financial records and files according to established policies and procedures.
• Drafts procedures as they relate to assigned functional area of responsibility in coordination with assigned management staff.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:   Equivalent to an associate degree in accounting or twelve (12) units of relevant accounting classes and three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a technical area of accounting processing, such as payroll or general accounting.

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo is pleased to announce its recruitment for the position of Office Specialist.

DEPARTMENT

The Department of Housing (DOH) is in Belmont, California, and the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM) is a division within DOH. HACSM is 100% federally funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and, with an annual budget of over $150 million, administers various Tenant-Based Voucher, Project-Based Voucher, and Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs.  HACSM provides rental assistance to over 5,500 households, including people who are homeless, disabled, foster youth, and veterans. HACSM is one of the original 39 Moving To Work (MTW) agencies, creating activities such as landlord incentives and an affordable housing fund to assist with the costs of affordable housing development.

 

HACSM is a component unit of the County of San Mateo, but a separate entity that utilizes different case management and financial reporting systems from the County. HACSM has separate payroll and benefits from the County of San Mateo.  HACSM employees are not County employees.

The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to successfully:

• Perform a variety of routine to moderately difficult administrative and clerical support duties for assigned housing programs.

• Provide administrative support to supervisory and program staff.

• Compose and prepare correspondence and distribute correspondence via email, regular mail, or DocuSign.

• Complete a high volume of data entry.

• Provide support for a wide variety of housing program assignments related to wait list management, initial or ongoing eligibility, case management, leasing, and/or other related program functions.

• Provide information and assistance to colleagues, program participants, and the public.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The annual salary range is $76,564 - $95,586.

Retirement

All permanent HACSM employees are covered under two defined contribution plans: 

• A mandatory participation 403(b) plan that receives contributions from both the employer and employees. For Management employees in the 403(b) plan, the employer contributes 14 percent of salary per pay period. This amount represents the total payment due to the plan on behalf of the employees.

• A 457 Deferred Compensation plan in which employees participate on a voluntary basis. Employee contributions are governed by the 457 Plan description.

 

Paid Leave

• Employees accrue four vacation hours per biweekly pay period during the first five years of continuous service. The accrual rate increases every five years of continued service.  

• Employees accrue 3.7 sick leave hours per biweekly pay period. 

• 13 paid holidays/year. 

• Management employees accrue five (5) hours of administrative leave each pay period. No more than 260 hours of such administrative leave may be accumulated at any one time. On an annual basis, management employees can convert 50 percent of their current administrative leave balance for a cash payment.

• Performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical support tasks essential to the effective and efficient delivery of services for the assigned program(s), requiring knowledge of assigned program operations and regulations.

• Notifies applicants and recipients of programs, processes, procedures, and/or application status; initiates the application and/or recertification process by preparing and sending application/recertification packets, correspondence, and requests for information/verification required to determine eligibility; schedules briefings and appointments for program staff; and updates applicant/participant eligibility within applicable systems.

• Receives and reviews various documents requiring knowledge of assigned program(s), which may include applications, contracts, agreements, correspondence, and periodic reports; reviews for completeness and compliance with program rules and regulations.

• Processes assigned tasks and case actions as directed by Housing Programs Specialists, Housing Inspectors, and/or supervisory staff; performs data entry and updates information in the case management system; within established parameters, verifies eligibility determinations; reviews, generates, and sends correspondence to applicants, participants, and/or landlords related to case action(s).

• Prepares, maintains, verifies, updates, revises, and/or sends out electronic and physical documents, records, reports, files, forms, application packets, and recertification packets; resolves information discrepancies; and enters information into, maintains, monitors, and/or updates documents, databases, online systems, and software. 

• Assist with the new contract process, which includes processing Request for Tenancy Approval (RFTA), conducting rent reasonableness, determining affordability, calculating landlord incentives, and generating and reviewing the Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract with lease agreement according to established guidelines.  

• Schedules and coordinates property inspections, working closely with HACSM and contract staff, applicants and/or participants, and property owners/landlords; tracks scheduled inspections and inspection results; performs data entry and maintains inspection records.

• Logs, tracks, maintains, and updates detailed and accurate records for various housing program waitlists; maintains accurate applicant, participant, and property owner records.   

• Explains and interprets regulations, policies, procedures, systems, rules, and responds to inquiries and complaints.  

• Inputs and retrieves data into various HACSM and/or state/federal software applications and database systems; maintains program and/or department-specific systems and databases.  

• Answers incoming telephone calls and e-mails; replies to voicemail and e-mail messages.

• Assembles and reviews data and information for various records and reports.

• Serves as a liaison to HACSM staff, program applicants and participants, stakeholders, and landlords; coordinates and schedules meetings and facilitates completion of required program forms, documents, and contracts.

• Observes and complies with all HACSM and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.

• Performs related duties as required.

THE ATHERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR:

THE POSITION:

This can be a stressful and demanding job located within the Police Department requiring shift work, weekend and holiday duty.  Although hours vary, this is an on-call, as-needed position that is paid hourly.  Using RIMS (Records Information Management System), per diem dispatchers dispatch police and transfer calls to Fire & EMS under emergency conditions; receive residential alarm calls and take calls of an emergency and non-emergency nature from citizens; greets public and assists at the front counter.  Dispatchers must remain calm and tactful under trying conditions, remembering detailed information, and thinking clearly while performing several tasks at once.

To maintain familiarity with the Atherton Police Dispatch Center, we can offer guaranteed 16 hours of shifts spread over a few days per month. You'll provide break relief while also getting a chance to work with another dispatcher. Since we may not always have many shifts available, expectations would be that you would also assist with open shifts/sick calls as needed and not just rely on the 16 hours.
