Position Duties

 

The Energy department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division. This position is part of an exciting fast-paced team responsible for mitigating risks and managing a power portfolio comprised of hundreds of Megawatts of renewable energy projects. 

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Develop analytical modeling and reporting for evaluating portfolio-level and enterprise-wide risks, providing insights that strengthen decision making. 
• Define and quantify the risk metric to demonstrate financial risk during extreme, disadvantageous energy market conditions and assess their implications for the organization. 
• Support the creation of scalable risk management tools to track the various operational, financial, strategic, legislative, regulatory risks specific to the energy industry.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess critical energy-sector risks - such as wholesale market fluctuations and evolving regulatory requirements - and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Perform attribution analysis to identify the factors contributing to power portfolio performance and generate insights for strategic decision making.
• Perform sensitivity analyses on key energy-related risk variables using financial modeling techniques to evaluate organizational impact and prepare clear, data-driven reports for management.
• Coordinate with different divisions within the department to identify the key risks across various categories, supporting the development and maintenance of an enterprise risk register.
• Monitor the organization's risk exposure and the effectiveness of existing risk management strategies through continuous data analysis. 
• Evaluate enterprise risks, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with business units to assess, track, and mitigate business-level risks, while informing enterprise-level risk assessment and management.
• Identify emerging operational and financial risks by analyzing internal and external energy-market data to evaluate risk likelihood, impact, exposure, and control effectiveness, providing strategic recommendations to prevent or reduce potential losses.
• Maintain an understanding of existing and new regulatory laws related to California Energy Regulation and assess how policy changes may impact organizational operations and compliance.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong modeling, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. The candidate should have effective communication skills, show attention to detail, and be able to work independently. Candidates that are highly collaborative with colleagues and are able to think outside the box are ideal. Experience in energy sector is desirable.
 

The Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division is responsible for providing independent oversight of the risks in transacting for energy products and services as well as ensuring compliance with adopted risk management policies and procedures.  This unit also provides strategic support to facilitate the development and execution of various non-energy contracts, administers signed energy contracts, and manages the invoicing process.

Power Resources Specialist II - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Finance, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or an analytical degree related field to utility business AND one (1) year of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED

 

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

• The equivalent of two (2) years of paid employment experience in public safety dispatching within the past five (5) years of which at least one (1) year included solo status; or
• Five (5) years of current paid employment with a public safety agency or private emergency medical services agency, with high level Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio and/or telephone operation; or
• Successful completion of probationary period as a Public Safety Dispatcher I with the City of Santa Clara.

 

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a current P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatch certificate is required.

 

Other Requirements:  

• Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, on schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.  All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and/or psychological testing.

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is seeking dynamic, engaging and qualified engineers for several vacant Electric Utility Engineer positions in various divisions. 

For SVP Operations Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with communication and electrical power engineering. This individual will assist with the programming of industrial multiplexer networks. The individual should have a strong interest in industrial high-speed data networking.

For SVP Engineering and CIP projects Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with electrical power engineering, substation design and Transmission and distribution systems. The individual may manage or will assist in managing Capital improvement Projects (CIP) to support growth of the electric utility. The candidates should have strong background and interest in electric systems. 

For System Planning and Asset Management Division, this position will be assigned to perform and maintain distribution system model, participate in integrated SVP system planning and other SVP groups to deliver distribution system results and reports, identify and implement projects that are necessary to support load growth and improve reliability of the distribution system. This position will work closely with customer/developers on their projects, will coordinate with various City departments and support SVP’s field and operation staff as necessary.

The Director of Public Works is a regular, full-time, administrative, at-will, exempt position. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Plan, direct, and coordinate, through subordinate level staff, the Public Works Department’s work plan; assign projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; review and evaluate work methods and procedures; conduct field inspections of work-in-progress and completed projects; ensure the maintenance of safe working conditions and good housekeeping practices; meet with key staff to identify and resolve problems. 5. Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. 6. Direct and review the work of contract consultants providing assistance to staff. 7. Oversee and participate in the development and administration of the department budget; approve the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary. 8. Keep informed of the status and availability of necessary tools, equipment, and material to ensure availability in advance of need; ensure that material and equipment are properly stored, protected, and maintained; initiate purchases of equipment and supplies required for the Department; coordinate and approve purchasing, bidding, and project cost estimation. 9. Provide staff assistance to the City Manager; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence. 10. Research and prepare technical and administrative reports and studies; prepare written correspondence as necessary; provide periodic reports on department activities. 11. Represent the Public Works Department to other departments, elected officials, and outside agencies; coordinate assigned activities with those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations. 12. Explain, justify, and defend department programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues. 13. Participate on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees including City Council meetings. 14. Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

The Department:
The responsibilities of the City Attorney's Office broadly consist of representing and advising the City Council, City officials, and employees of all City departments in all matters of law pertaining to their offices and departments. This includes appearing on behalf of the City in legal actions or proceedings, providing the City Council with information and advice on wide range of legal matters including litigation and new legislation, and staffing City Council and City Board and Commission meetings as necessary. The Position:
The City is recruiting to fill one (1) Assistant City Attorney position. The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer for its Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP).  Reporting to the Chief Electric Utility Officer (CEUO), the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior management position in the City's unclassified service responsible for the oversight and direction for the fiscal, administrative, and managerial operations of the utility. The COO has supervisory and support responsibilities for the utility's divisions: Utility Operations, Customer Development and Project Management, Resource Planning and Customer Engagement, and Business Services. The COO will help guide SVP through the extraordinary period of growth related by doubling the existing capacity of the electrical system to meet new customer demands over the next 10 years. In addition to the expansion, the COO will work to ensure new renewable resources are added to meet the City's and State’s climate goals. The COO is responsible for forecasting service requirements and for planning, organizing and directing assigned resources of the electric utility division in order to meet those requirements. The Parks Division provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of City parks and open spaces. The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. The Cemetery Division maintains 33,000 internment sites in a peaceful public park.  
 
The Position:
Providing customer service at Recreation Facility Front Desk (CRC, YAC, Senior Center, Reed & Grant Sports Park, Warburton and ISC Pools). The job responsibilities include data input, processing program registrations, opening and closing the desk reception area and keeping accurate records of daily sales. Daily check in of patrons, adhering to established protocols and ensuring the safety of customers as they enter and exit the facilities. Work assignment shifts will include, days, evenings and weekends.

The Recreation Office Assistant has an emphasis on performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties at a recreation facility.  An incumbent in this classification is responsible for demonstrating a high level of customer service while performing basic clerical duties including financial transactions, maintaining documents, and assisting others.  Assignments are generally limited in scope, contain fairly routine duties, and are performed within a procedural framework established by higher-level employees.

Typical Duties

Each position in this classification may not include all the duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all duties that may be performed.
Under general supervision:
• Greets employees, visitors, and the public, assisting with routine inquires and requests and providing a high level of customer service
• Answers telephone calls, providing routine information, taking messages, and routing calls to the appropriate destination
• Maintains and updates records including attendance, inventory, and basic financial transactions; files and retrieves files, forms, inventories, logs, and other documents
• Registers program and class participants; enters data into and retrieves data from standard business software, databases, and online systems; posts a variety of information on forms, records, reports, and files
• Makes reservations for recreation facilities
• Maintains office area; creates and arranges program displays
• Orders, maintains, and distributes a variety of supplies and equipment; maintains and monitors invoices and purchase orders; maintains simple inventory records
• Opens and closes facility in accordance with established procedures
• Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• Six (6) months of general clerical or customer service experience; and
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is desirable

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• As a condition of employment, incumbents will be required to be fingerprinted in accordance with State of California law
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment

• Lift and carry objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds
