Position Duties

 

The Energy department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division. This position is part of an exciting fast-paced team responsible for mitigating risks and managing a power portfolio comprised of hundreds of Megawatts of renewable energy projects. 

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Develop analytical modeling and reporting for evaluating portfolio-level and enterprise-wide risks, providing insights that strengthen decision making. 
• Define and quantify the risk metric to demonstrate financial risk during extreme, disadvantageous energy market conditions and assess their implications for the organization. 
• Support the creation of scalable risk management tools to track the various operational, financial, strategic, legislative, regulatory risks specific to the energy industry.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess critical energy-sector risks - such as wholesale market fluctuations and evolving regulatory requirements - and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Perform attribution analysis to identify the factors contributing to power portfolio performance and generate insights for strategic decision making.
• Perform sensitivity analyses on key energy-related risk variables using financial modeling techniques to evaluate organizational impact and prepare clear, data-driven reports for management.
• Coordinate with different divisions within the department to identify the key risks across various categories, supporting the development and maintenance of an enterprise risk register.
• Monitor the organization's risk exposure and the effectiveness of existing risk management strategies through continuous data analysis. 
• Evaluate enterprise risks, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with business units to assess, track, and mitigate business-level risks, while informing enterprise-level risk assessment and management.
• Identify emerging operational and financial risks by analyzing internal and external energy-market data to evaluate risk likelihood, impact, exposure, and control effectiveness, providing strategic recommendations to prevent or reduce potential losses.
• Maintain an understanding of existing and new regulatory laws related to California Energy Regulation and assess how policy changes may impact organizational operations and compliance.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong modeling, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. The candidate should have effective communication skills, show attention to detail, and be able to work independently. Candidates that are highly collaborative with colleagues and are able to think outside the box are ideal. Experience in energy sector is desirable.
 

The Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division is responsible for providing independent oversight of the risks in transacting for energy products and services as well as ensuring compliance with adopted risk management policies and procedures.  This unit also provides strategic support to facilitate the development and execution of various non-energy contracts, administers signed energy contracts, and manages the invoicing process.

Power Resources Specialist I - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or an analytical degree related field to utility business.

Power Resources Specialist II - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Finance, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or an analytical degree related field to utility business AND one (1) year of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. You will educate the public on code requirements through clear and respectful communication and work collaboratively with other city departments and external agencies to resolve issues. The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. These tasks involve inspections and enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties, housing, building construction, and other related regulations. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. The Position 
As a Public Safety Dispatcher II, this non-sworn classification dispatches public safety, fire, and emergency medical services out into the community. The successful incumbent will be responsible for receiving incoming calls for police, fire, or medical assistance and dispatch necessary units. This classification is distinguished from the Public Safety Dispatcher I by a broader range of responsibility due to a higher level of experience and training.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the journey-level classification in the non-sworn flexibility staffed Public Safety Dispatcher I/II series. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the class of Public Safety Dispatcher I in that the latter is the entry level class where incumbents are trained on full range of dispatch functions under immediate supervision. This class is distinguished from the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher in that the latter has full responsibility for supervising a shift of Public Safety Dispatchers I/II.

 

 

Typical Duties

• Operates base radio console equipment, transmitting and receiving routine and emergency messages
• Receives emergency and routine requests for services from the public via 9-1-1, alternate emergency lines, and business lines
• Dispatches appropriate emergency vehicles, equipment and personnel in response to those requests, in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Coordinates emergency operations between various departmental personnel and equipment

Silicon Valley Power, Asset Management Group has an excellent opportunity for the position of Engineering Technician (Electric). Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering and/or estimating personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing SVP maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, street light maps, fiber communication, electric utility single line and operating diagrams and other maps, performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of electric utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

The Engineering Technician (Electric) is an entry-level classification in the paraprofessional Engineering Technician series. An incumbent in this classification performs routine technical office and field work in support of various engineering projects in the Electric Utility Department. WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when operating assigned equipment. Acute hearing is required in both the field and the office. The ability to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 70 pounds, such as a jackhammer, is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, heat, and cold. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust chemicals, biohazard materials and air contaminants. The nature of the work may also require the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, work in confined spaces, drive motorized vehicles and work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions. The Position:

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

The annual salary range for this position is $125,115.24 - $159,613.32 annually. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

OR

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

OR

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

Acceptable Substitution:

None

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. 

Certification by the International Code Council or other recognized agency, as a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector is required within one (1) year of appointment and for continued employment in this class

Desirable Qualifications:

Certified Access Specialist (CASp) certification is desirable
