We have exciting internship opportunities available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department Environmental Programs Division.  This is an open-ended internship without a specific term, and is a fully on-site position with a minimum of 16 hours per week commitment (not to exceed 1,000 per fiscal year).

The interns would work on projects, such as assisting with the water conservation programs and reporting, implementation of Millbrae’s 2020 Climate Action Plan measures (i.e. residential energy efficiency and electrification programs and tree subsidy programs), and community engagement support.  Interns would report to the Environmental Programs Manager located at City Hall at 621 Magnolia Avenue.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

The Deputy Director must be willing to forego involvement in all local political activity while a member of the Commission staff and publicly file an annual Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a closely related field of study, or a juris doctor degree.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience with public sector management, budgeting, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, and/or recruitment functions.
• Experience in the fields of campaign finance and governmental ethics.

Now Hiring: Contracts Administration, Operation & Compliance (CAOC) Director

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for contract management and compliance? San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is seeking a Contracts Administration, Operation & Compliance (CAOC) Director to build and lead a new team of professionals and consultants dedicated to transforming contract lifecycle management.

In this high-impact role, you will drive major improvements in how SFO contracts are procured, administered, and monitored for compliance. You’ll oversee policy development for contract negotiations, administration, operations, and compliance while managing three key functional teams: Contracts Administration, Contracts Operations, and Contracts Compliance.

This position collaborates with contract project managers, SFO leadership, and citywide departments such as the Controller’s Office and the City Administrator’s Office, as well as industry partners. Your mission? To create a centralized, proactive framework that minimizes risk, enhances compliance, and strengthens contract resilience across the Airport.

How to qualify

Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND

Experience: Four (4) years of experience managing a section with oversight of contract negotiation, administration, operation, or compliance within a large organization, all of which includes experience supervising professionals.

Substitution:

1. Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.
2. Possession of a graduate degree (Master’s degree or higher) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in specialized subject matter areas such as public or business administration, economics, finance, business law, contract law, public policy, or other fields of study closely related to the essential functions of the job may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.

Must have any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to:

Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience in the field of budget and/or financial analysis which includes position related experience in budget preparation and analysis, financial/fiscal analysis, economic analysis, contract review and administration, financial programs, project management and relevant legislative/administrative policy analysis. Possession of a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college, or university is highly desirable Must be proficient in using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and PowerPoint
