ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the full-time (38 hours per week) position of Senior Library Assistant.  The Senior Library Assistant performs a wide array of high-level library work and customer service. The current vacancy is based at our Downtown Library, performing a wide variety of technical library work, providing services for children, adults and families, and administering the day-to-day activities of the library.  The candidate may also be assigned to work at other Redwood City Public Library locations.  This position requires work during the day, evenings and a weekend rotation (both Saturday and Sunday).  We may use the eligibility list created from this recruitment process to fill any positions that occur in any Redwood City Public Library location, during the life of the eligibility list. GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.
• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms.
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements.
• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep.
• Enforce policies, maintain discipline, and provide customer service to patrons.

• Respond to and resolve patron inquiries and complaints.
• Participate in safety training and emergency procedures.

Duties also include repetitive pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing, lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and maintaining good vision and hearing.

· Use computer systems for data entry.

· Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.

· Handle office tasks including mail distribution, shipments, and deliveries.

· Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.

· Assist facility attendants and recreation programs as needed.

SCOREKEEPER (Illustrative purposes only)

· Greet, acknowledge, and interact with children, adults, parents and sports officials in a friendly and professional manner

· Responsible for setup and breakdown of different sports at different venues i.e. The RAC, Parkside, City Parks, etc.

· Keep score and use scoreboards for different sports: Basketball, volleyball, softball, badminton, etc.

· Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts

· Strength is needed to lift and carry recreation equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; and flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects

· Responsibilities include keeping score for youth, recreation, and middle school sporting events using various digital and analog forms of tracking methods

· Track score of youth sporting events via scoreboard technology or statistics booklet

· Organize, track and set-up specific sports equipment (i.e. volleyball poles and nets, basketball hoops and benches)

· Receives general supervision from the Youth and Adult Sports Coordinator

· Employees may interact with challenging staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

This position will serve as the primary contact for all applicants applying for housing assistance programs and the administration of rental assistance programs. The incumbent will perform technical and programmatic aspects, requiring the interpretation and application of regulations, policies, and procedures to determine the eligibility of program services, ensuring accurate processing of data, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

What You'll Do:

• Provide technical supervision over maintenance staff performing backflow prevention assembly installation, repair, inspection, and testing.

The Essentials:

Cross-Connection Control Specialist

• Two years of experience in water system maintenance, equivalent to the responsibilities of a Water Utility Worker in the City of Mountain View
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by approved courses of instruction in the theory, laws, regulations, and techniques of backflow prevention and/or cross-connection control.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and a California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certificate.  
• Possession of an AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certificate within one year of appointment.  

Bonus Points:

• Experience administering a water system cross-connection inspection program is highly desirable.

The Position:
This is complex lead level work involved in a central purchasing department related to the procurement of goods and services, including preparation of formal bid documents, facilitation of the activities of the bid process, selection of vendors, volume buying, inventory, assessing availability and quality of goods and services, and routine to complex procurements for the entire District according to prescribed methods. Duties and Responsibilities:

THE DEPARTMENT

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides its residents with service in fire suppression; first-responder and ambulance transport emergency medical services; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue and fire prevention, investigation and public education. • Provides logistical support to all five of the City’s Fire stations and departments by delivering essential supplies and materials to maintain operational readiness.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The Essentials 

• Three years increasingly responsible building inspection experience supplemented by journey level construction trade experience. 
• Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by college level courses in inspection methods, architecture, structural, or civil engineering.

What You'll Do
 

• Perform field inspections on various structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and building systems at various stages of building construction, alteration, or repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes. 
• Check building plans for compliance with applicable codes.
• Confer with and resolve code and inspection disputes between staff and builders, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and the public.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Deputy General Manager of Bus, the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. This position will monitor Bus Operator instructors, including observing the road operations to ensure adherence to Operating and Safety Policy and Procedures; monitor Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance; and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. It will also monitor and document Bus Operator Students’ performance, responds to and investigate accidents.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees training classes for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Monitors classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators and for other bus training requirements.
• Oversees the following training: 
  1. Refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence. 
  2. Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain V.T.T. status. 
  3. Re-train bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations. 
  4. Trains Driver Instructors and Transportation Supervisors on new equipment and provide them with outlines and checklists. 
  5. ADA training for persons with disabilities in partnership with passenger relations and planning department. 
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators and/or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Ensures maintenance of complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Monitors progressive trainees and performs regular individual coaching/counseling and progress evaluations of student operators. 
• Provides training and guidance as well as work assignments to Driver Training Instructors
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.
• Works with the Director of Transit Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Prepares and/or attends D.M.V. or CHP audits.
• Handles terminations and separations of trainees who fail to meet minimum standards during the program.
• Coordinates local Bus Roadeos, represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo
• Instructs and monitors operations of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations. 
• Issues infractions for violations of safety policy and procedures as well as testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials. 
• Ensure employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Assists in collision investigations as required or requested.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors, and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience equivalent to:

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation studies, public administration, education, or related field. Additional qualifying position-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the education requirement.
• Position requires a minimum of five-years commercial driving experience as an inter-city transit Full Time Bus Operator.
• In addition, must have two-years of classroom training and/or instruction experience and three-years supervisory experience that includes staffing, counseling, coaching, training, motivating and disciplining others. 
• Must have intermediate and proficient computer skills. including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Computer aided dispatching software experience is preferred.
• Experience in traffic collision investigation and or safety enforcement is preferred. 
• Experience as a Transit Transportation Supervisor is desirable.
• Must be available to work weekends and nights.

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Parks and Recreation Department is composed of a Director and 22 full-time management positions. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Parks, and Building Maintenance divisions. The Parks and Recreation Department mission is to provide opportunities for physical, cultural and social well being; protect and enhance the physical environment; and ensure the effective and efficient use of public facilities and open space.

The Building Maintenance Division maintains 32 facilities totaling more than 563,000 square feet and over 275 acres of park land. The division provides janitorial, preventative maintenance services, and necessary building and related equipment repairs to all of the City's facilities, including interior and exterior work. The division also performs a variety of tasks, which include moving furniture, set-ups, and many other miscellaneous tasks as required.

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.   

Essential Duties 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.   

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs. 

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.  

• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence. 

• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. 

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
