Key Responsibilities

• Inspect public works and capital projects – including streets, storm drains, sidewalks, grading, and related infrastructure – for compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards

The City of Newark is seeking an Urban Forest Supervisor for the Public Works Department. The Urban Forest Supervisor leads the City’s forestry and landscape maintenance programs. This role blends strategic planning, technical expertise in tree health, and hands-on project management to ensure a safe and well-maintained urban environment.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• Participates in the preparation of the operating budget for the landscape and tree program; participates in the forecasting of additional funds needed for materials and supplies and gathers cost estimates as directed. 
• Provides skilled and technical direction on care, maintenance, disease prevention, and removal of trees; plans inspection and maintenance of all trees in appropriate cycles; assigns priorities and special projects as needed.

The City of Newark is seeking an energetic and committed Associate Civil Engineer to perform professional civil engineering work related to the planning, review, design, construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Meet and confer with developers, contractors, engineers and the general public relative to city policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Attend Development Review Committee meetings on designated entitlement projects and present and coordinate Engineering issues with other City departments.
• Recommend and prepare conditions of approval for Planning entitlement projects.

Possession of Certification as Building Official by International Code Council (ICC) is required within one (1) year of appointment. Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California is desirable.

The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department depends on reliable technology for public safety, investigations, communications, and record-keeping. As the Information Technology Systems Administrator, your work will directly contribute to the safety of our residents and the efficiency of our public services by making sure all systems are stable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices, state and federal data security requirements, and Town policies.
