THE DEPARTMENT

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides its residents with service in fire suppression; first-responder and ambulance transport emergency medical services; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue and fire prevention, investigation and public education. The Department operates five (5) fire stations throughout the City, plus an Emergency Operations Center and Fire Training Tower and is comprised of 92 dedicated staff members.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SECTION

This essential role provides logistical support to ensure the operational readiness of all five City Fire stations and assists city-wide departments through reliable mail, materials, and records handling.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Provides logistical support to all five of the City’s Fire stations and departments by delivering essential supplies and materials to maintain operational readiness.
• Picks up, sorts, and delivers interdepartmental and USPS mail, packages, and materials to City departments and external entities; processes outgoing mail, meters postage, and maintains departmental records of postage use.
• Assists in maintaining and retrieving City records from storage, ensuring timely delivery to appropriate departments.
• Operates a City vehicle safely and efficiently during daily tasks.
• Uses handcarts and lifting devices to transport materials as needed.
• Operates a personal computer to manage inventory and storage records.
• Maintains positive working relationships with staff and the public through courteous and professional interaction.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer; sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and maintain sustained posture in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods of time; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; lift from the ground and carry 60 pounds; move several boxes via hand truck or cart. Travel to different sites and locations; must maintain safe driving record; maintain a clean and neat appearance.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Deputy General Manager of Bus, the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. This position will monitor Bus Operator instructors, including observing the road operations to ensure adherence to Operating and Safety Policy and Procedures; monitor Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance; and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. It will also monitor and document Bus Operator Students’ performance, responds to and investigate accidents.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees training classes for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Monitors classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators and for other bus training requirements.
• Oversees the following training: 
  1. Refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence. 
  2. Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain V.T.T. status. 
  3. Re-train bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations. 
  4. Trains Driver Instructors and Transportation Supervisors on new equipment and provide them with outlines and checklists. 
  5. ADA training for persons with disabilities in partnership with passenger relations and planning department. 
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators and/or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Ensures maintenance of complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Monitors progressive trainees and performs regular individual coaching/counseling and progress evaluations of student operators. 
• Provides training and guidance as well as work assignments to Driver Training Instructors
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.
• Works with the Director of Transit Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Prepares and/or attends D.M.V. or CHP audits.
• Handles terminations and separations of trainees who fail to meet minimum standards during the program.
• Coordinates local Bus Roadeos, represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo
• Instructs and monitors operations of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations. 
• Issues infractions for violations of safety policy and procedures as well as testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials. 
• Ensure employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Assists in collision investigations as required or requested.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors, and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience equivalent to:

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation studies, public administration, education, or related field. Additional qualifying position-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the education requirement.
• Position requires a minimum of five-years commercial driving experience as an inter-city transit Full Time Bus Operator.
• In addition, must have two-years of classroom training and/or instruction experience and three-years supervisory experience that includes staffing, counseling, coaching, training, motivating and disciplining others. 
• Must have intermediate and proficient computer skills. including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Computer aided dispatching software experience is preferred.
• Experience in traffic collision investigation and or safety enforcement is preferred. 
• Experience as a Transit Transportation Supervisor is desirable.
• Must be available to work weekends and nights.

The Department

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.   

Essential Duties 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.   

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs. 

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records. 

• Maintains a high level of confidentiality. 

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.  

• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters. 

• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.  

• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence. 

• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. 

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files. 

• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Bilingual Spanish Psychiatric Social Worker / Marriage and Family Therapists will provide specialized psychiatric assessment, brief treatment, and clinical case management services for adult clients with Severe Mental Illness. Principal duties will include mental health and substance use assessment and treatment; engaging clients to services; consultation with providers; and linkage/referrals to other community providers. The main role of this position will be working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team to provide specialized psychiatric casework and care coordination, provide individual and group psychotherapy, case management, and refer clients to Private Provider Network and/or community agencies for additional services.

Role description

Under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include mainframes, mini-computers, personal computers, mobile devices, LANS, WANs, servers, data storage and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone. 

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. This classification performs a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution tasks on large complex systems and networks. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. This level may formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Incumbents require only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Serves as a technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems or networks, with a focus on securing vulnerabilities and reducing risk of system and/or asset compromises.

Essential Duties:
 

1. Determine requirements for the development environment and / or enhancement for large complex systems that serve HSA’s programs. May research and conduct feasibility studies on new technologies.
2. Design, plan, integrate, test, implement, document and enhance large complex systems. This may involve the analysis, coding (.NET C#, Cold Fusion), web application design, database design, and evaluation of systems software, hardware and communications strategies.
3. Perform systems integration for interoperability over dissimilar platforms and technologies. This may involve the integration of various protocols and systems software.
4. Determine the proper installation parameters for software for smooth integration and efficiency in relation to the enterprise system and network.
5. Write code to customize large systems software which may involve specialized programming languages.
6. Read and understand requirements documentation and other documentation in order to write code to implement the required features for application systems.
7. Analyze, detect, identify and correct complex systems software or hardware deficiencies. Analyze, research and debug program logic and systems; modify program logic; analyze service requests for system changes or new requirements to determine the most effective approach and the appropriate staff time required to achieve the needed modification.
8. Provide emergency technical support for application issues to ensure system availability and data integrity. May provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery from software or hardware problems for mission-critical systems and networks.
9. Act as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems. Coordinate and implement corrective measures; this may involve site visits, telephone assistance, remote systems and participation in technical committees.
10. Facilitate the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new hardware or software products.
11. Document procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems software and hardware; develop technical documentation and review documentation prior to general distribution.
12. Plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for large systems.
13. Communicate with managers regarding system performance and operational issues. Suggest improvements to management.
14. Research and test new software technologies; report results; recommend software purchases. Learn and implement the new technologies that are brought in. Coordinate and work with vendors when needed. 
15. Attend meetings, workshops, and demonstrations; perform duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Summary Description

Under the direction of the Pool Manager, organizes and instructs swim classes, maintains records and documentation involved with instruction classes, monitors swimmers in the pool area, enforcing pool rules and regulations, preventing accidents and rescuing swimmers in distress during public swim sessions. This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly position without City-paid benefits.  Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Conduct all levels of swim instruction and water safety lessons for participants from ages six months to adult.
2. Assist in curriculum instruction planning and pre-registration program to assess participants’ ability levels.
3. Patrol and monitor aquatics facility, watch for accidents and hazards in the pool areas; enforce rules.
4. Responsible for following accepted lifesaving practices and standards including the administering of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), O2 and First Aid as needed.
5. Assist with facility operations, aquatics competitions and special events throughout the year, including setup and cleanup.
6. Assist with desk reception, telephone support and related customer service activities; accepts registrations, collect fees and process receipts on a City computer.
7. Responsible for meeting all program goals and objectives.
8. Complete accurate reports and documentation of accidents and incidents in pool and pool area.
9. Attend scheduled staff meetings.
10. Assist with routine pool cleaning and maintenance as needed.
11. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean swimming pool environment.
12. Responsible for maintaining personal fitness sufficient to perform the required duties.
13. Perform other position-related duties designated by the Pool Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Possess current and valid certificates from American Red Cross in First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Training which must be maintained throughout employment.

Demonstrated swimming skills that meet the American Red Cross guidelines for aquatics program personnel.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid ID.

The outpatient clinician will provide specialty outpatient mental health services to adults living in the Northern regions of San Mateo County. The target population are adults 18 years of age and older presenting with a serious mental illness and severe functional impairments. Principal duties will include assessment and diagnosis, care coordination, case management, group and individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention and rehabilitation services. The Clinician will provide treatment in an outpatient clinic setting.

The ideal candidates will possess: 

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist;

• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities;
