San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, the incumbent will have experience in working with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is strongly preferred.

• Under medical direction, plan and perform occupational therapy for a variety of patients.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of occupational therapy, as applicable to all types of cases found in a general hospital providing acute care or in a rehabilitative center.
• Physical and psychological problems of physically disabled, aged, gero-psychiatric and chronically ill patients.
• Principles of splint design and fabrication.
• Use and care of therapeutic tools and equipment commonly used in occupational therapy.
• Professional ethics and the fundamental laws of practice for occupational therapy.

Skill/Ability to:

• Administer and document occupational therapy treatments.
• Assess patient needs, analyze situations accurately and implement an effective plan of action.

Role description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

The Deputy Director must be willing to forego involvement in all local political activity while a member of the Commission staff and publicly file an annual Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.
• Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Commission’s laws, policies, programs, procedures, and operations.
• Oversee daily administrative operations of the department including financial management, procurement, accounting, payroll, and related office operations.
• Effectively plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of direct reports.
• Manage the department’s hiring initiatives including tracking vacancies, producing hiring-related documents, coordinating recruitment functions with staff and DHR, and supporting onboarding activities.
• Manage the department’s HR and personnel functions and lead initiatives to promote staff engagement and professional development.
• Direct the department’s annual budget development process by working with Commission staff and City stakeholders to get necessary funding approved through the City’s budgeting process.
• Track ongoing spending using the City’s financial systems and monitor adherence to the approved budget.
• Manage the department’s contracting needs and establish internal procedures and documentation for related business processes.
• Design and implement standardized workflows, procedures, documents, and tools for the Commission’s departmental business processes. Identify ways to improve business processes using automation.
• Establish effective metrics that inform the department’s operations and programmatic work in a data-driven manner. Develop processes to generate and track performance measures broadly across functions for leadership and staff, using automated tools in collaboration with the technology division.
• Manage services from other departments to support the Commission’s operations and serve as a liaison for departments and other stakeholders.
• Prepare management reports, annual reports, agency publications, and financial reports to provide regular progress updates regarding departmental goals and operations. Provide presentations at Commission meetings as needed.
• Maintain information on the Commission’s website, including budget, operational reports, and Commission information, in compliance with the City’s language access and digital inclusion standards.

• Support Commission-related operations including assisting with public meetings and onboarding new Commissioners.
• Act on behalf of the Executive Director when requested to provide business continuity for other programmatic and business functions.

How to qualify

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND
• Two (2) years of managerial experience in governmental ethics, campaign financing, and/or lobbying laws and regulations, all of which must include supervisory experience.

Substitution: Additional experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a closely related field of study, or a juris doctor degree.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience with public sector management, budgeting, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, and/or recruitment functions.
• Experience in the fields of campaign finance and governmental ethics.
• Experience working objectively, efficiently, and effectively under strict deadlines and highly visible, sensitive, or politicized settings.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in organizational policies, systems, and issues in a government setting.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications, including with Microsoft Office tools, electronic filings systems, collaboration and project management tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, Jira or similar), financial & accounting systems, digital signature tools (DocuSign or similar), and content management systems (WordPress or similar).

The County of Yuba is currently establishing an eligibility list for the position of Victim Witness Advocate in the Probation Department. Under general supervision, assist victims and witnesses of crime by providing information, support, referral and advocacy services; monitor cases through the judicial system; conduct educational presentations regarding victim services; assist in completing victim compensation claims; and perform related work as assigned. This is the journey level in the victim witness advocate class series and is expected to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment. Incumbents work initially under close supervision as they learn procedures and complex regulations and acquire the ability to apply the regulations. San Mateo County Health's Public Health Policy & Planning (PHPP) Division has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinarian to work in Animal Control and Licensing as a member of the team.
 
The current vacancy is extra help part time 20-hours per week in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division. The position is stationed in San Mateo, CA, but will travel/drive throughout the County to perform duties of the position.
 
Scheduling is flexible. Daily reporting hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department. Evening and weekend work may be required based on the needs of the organization. This position is a hybrid of remote work as well as field-based at clinics.
 
The Veterinary Wellness Program provides veterinary services to the pets of the unhoused, those in transitional housing, and very low-income San Mateo County residents who are receiving services from San Mateo County. This position works with San Mateo County Health and cross collaborates with other programs within the County. Technical expertise, as well as knowledge of veterinary public health practices, are preferred.
 
San Mateo County is unique in that most of our homeless shelters allow residents to bring their pets with them, not just an emotional support or service animal. One of the barriers for homeless people to get into a shelter with their pets is that their pet must be current on their vaccinations. Within 10 days of a new resident moving into a shelter with a pet, the County veterinarian will meet with the owner and their pet to provide a general exam, the necessary vaccinations and flea control. This position will visit various sites throughout the County on a regular basis, providing vaccines, flea control, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and general exams. In addition, the Veterinarian will travel to various homeless encampments to provide these services and to offer and encourage spaying and neutering of the pets.
 
When pets need additional care, this position will coordinate with local veterinary clinics we contract with for services. These contracts allow us to provide spay and neuter services, dental services, and many other procedures that the pet owner would not otherwise be able to afford. These vital veterinary services keep pets from being relinquished to animal shelters and provides peace of mind for the pet owner. In addition, our veterinary program partners with our Street Medicine Program to provide health care services to the pet owners, which advances San Mateo County’s One Health Concept.
 
This Veterinarian position will be providing technical/subject matter expertise on issues relating to the spread of zoonotic, epizootic, and exotic diseases, as well as consulting on cases of rabies in domestic and wild animals. The position will also act as a liaison between the veterinary community, Veterinary Public Health, California Department of Public Health, and residents of the County.
 
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide lead direction to staff responsible for following prescribed treatment and maintaining treatment records for animals treated.
• Ensure that the highest level of service and care are provided and that changes in animals’ conditions are recorded and properly addressed.
• Examine and evaluate animals, and perform veterinary medical treatments, including vaccinations and preventative treatment as appropriate. 
• Coordinate with local veterinarians and clinic/shelter professionals to arrange spay and neuter surgeries and medical procedures.
• Arrange for care at a contracted veterinary hospital for severely injured, sick or diseased animals and provides full orders for care.
• Establishes and maintains medical records and drug use logs to standards of veterinary practices.
• Ensure that records are in order and complete and prepare written reports as needed; ensures that all State and Federal laws, regulations, accepted standards, are adhered to. 
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of shelter animal health protocols, surgical procedures, and companion animal health issues.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with the staff, community, local veterinarians, State Veterinarian. 
• Assist in the monitoring of inventory and ordering of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
• Serve as technical/subject matter expert to answer questions from the County Health Officer, medical community and the general public regarding issues related to/involving animals—including but not limited to researching, recommending, implementing and/or maintaining measures to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases, epizootic diseases, exotic diseases and disease outbreaks. 
• Serve as a consultant in suspect cases of rabies in domestic and wild animals as well as complex issues deriving from animal bites.
• Review pertinent legislation, regulations, and policies to provide recommendations, especially with regards to vaccination of domestic animals, rabies vaccine exemptions, quarantine/euthanasia of animals exposed to rabies.
• Disseminate relevant information to the local veterinary community as well as to residents of the county. 
• Assist with emergencies and disaster services.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 
Ideal candidate will possess:
•       Experience working one – two years as a Veterinarian.

• Experience in diagnosing and treating disease, illness, and injuries of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals. 
• Ability to test animals for disease and administer vaccines.
• Ability to evaluate condition and coordinate maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Ability to help ensure the safe storage, access, and use of medications.
• Ability to develop and provide guidance on sanitary protocols, feeding, preventative medicine, and general care to promote the health of all animals.
• Ability to research and prepare medical reports for guidance of management upon request.
• Ability to write grant proposals for funding.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and residents of the community.
• Attend meetings and other meetings as requested or required.
• Obtain continuing education as required and be committed to staying up-to-date technically with industry best practices and applying learned knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner and contract providers.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

The Human Resources Administrator (Classification & Compensation) reports to the Director, Human Resources and is responsible for administering the District’s classification and compensation categorization system including performing highly confidential and professional level analytical work and advanced data analysis. This position makes recommendations based on studies and market data for professional-level administrative positions within the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), Peninsula Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) agencies.

• Gather, consolidate, and analyze complex qualitative, quantitative, confidential and sensitive data, datasets, and information from multiple sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• Associate Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or directly related field.

Role Overview: Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff provides high-level strategic and administrative support to the Supervisor, ensuring alignment with County priorities and addressing the unique needs of District 4. • Leading and coordinating policy initiatives and legislative priorities for the district.
• Advising the Supervisor on complex policy and community issues.
• Serving as a liaison and spokesperson for the Supervisor with constituents, community groups, media, and other government entities.

• Conducting research and policy analysis on local and regional issues.
• Managing the office budget, processing invoices, and ensuring compliance with County financial procedures.

• Providing direction, training, and support to staff in collaboration with the Supervisor.
• Managing the Supervisor’s calendar, including scheduling meetings and public engagements.

Salary and Benefits

The North Tahoe Fire Protection District is currently accepting applications for current and future job openings from qualified individuals to serve on the chipping crew. These positions are grant-funded, seasonal positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. These positions are returning to the fire district in 2025, and we’ll be hiring three people to operate the chipping crew.  This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  

The Chipping Crew Members work under the direct supervision of the Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety or their designee.  

The primary purpose of this crew is to operate a residential chipping program for the local community. This includes responding to chipping requests, traveling to those addresses with a truck and chipper, chipping the material, ensuring a clean site upon leaving, potentially hauling and dumping the material at a temporary holding site, assisting with loading, and ensuring activities are adequately tracked. The applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lifting objects frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Chipping crew members will also assist with community workdays utilizing the truck and chipper or assisting with cutting and hauling combustible materials and filling green waste dumpsters.
