ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is hiring two part-time Recreation Specialist positions, each with a distinct focus. One position will support Youth, Adaptive, and Senior programs, while the other will focus specifically on serving the East Gilroy neighborhood with various recreation programs. Both roles will involve leading programs for socio-economically disadvantaged youth, teens, and adults, managing part-time staff, program planning, administering grants, and collaborating with local organizations and public agencies.
 
Under general supervision of a Recreation Manager, Recreation Supervisor, or Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Specialist will plan, organize, and direct the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program areas include but are not limited to: Adaptive (special needs), Adult and/or Youth Sports such as organized leagues or classes, After School Program, Cultural Arts, Facility Attendant, Senior Center, Special Events, Summer Camps, Theater, and Youth Center/Youth Services. This is an entry-level, paraprofessional position supporting the Recreation Division.

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an Asset Management Coordinator to support the agency's affordable housing initiatives and asset management goals. The Coordinator handles a mix of technical and administrative tasks, including responding to inquiries, researching and compiling information, and managing specialized reporting projects. Additionally, the role involves tracking and reconciling financial, operational, and statistical records. The Coordinator also provides confidential support to management, staff, and various boards. This position assists with onboarding new hires and manages office arrangements for team members. It's a dynamic position requiring a mix of organizational skills and attention to detail.

This position requires knowledge of asset management, property maintenance, construction project management, capital planning and systems management, budget preparation, and financial modeling to analyze portfolio performance. 

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; and

A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing asset management, real estate development, property management, and/or construction management functions.

Certification as a California Notary public is desirable.

Certifications in Section 8 and LIHTC compliance, Fair Housing and Excel experience is desirable.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations promptly, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

The Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) is a unique part of the Hayward Police Department where police officers and professional counselors work side by side offering a variety of services to the residents of Hayward. For more than 40 years, YFSB has focused on helping families succeed at home, school and in the community. YFSB seeks to strengthen the Hayward community through creating opportunities for kids to grow up in healthy and safe neighborhoods and schools. THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Family Counselor in a limited term and permanent full-time vacancy.  Under general direction, the Family Counselor provides crisis intervention, counseling, and referral services to youth, families, and individuals and performs other related duties as required, such as school based, case management, and gang prevention/intervention services. 

The current vacancies are for a limited term position as well as a permanent full-time opportunity.  Future vacancies can also be filled by the resulting eligible list. You are: 
The ideal candidate has experience providing short-term family counseling and case management services to youth and their families who are involved in the juvenile justice system or at elevated risk for involvement.  They are skilled at completing safety assessments and intervening with people experiencing mental health crisis.  They have the ability to work well across disciplines, particularly with law enforcement and other emergency response teams and in schools.  They are knowledgeable about local community resources and skilled at forming relationships quickly.

What you will do:  

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Provides crisis intervention services to youth, families, individuals, and couples including but not limited to crises involving incorrigible youth, dependent children under the court's custody, domestic violence, first time offenders, and the hospitalization of individuals dangerous to self and others.
 
Provides counseling to youth, families, couples, individuals and groups.
 
Maintains crisis intake log, case files and service statistics.
 
Provides referral information to the public, and other agencies.

Participates in division, department, community and school meetings.

Provides support service, consultation and training to patrol officers on juvenile and mental health topics.
 
Provides case management services to youth and their families.
 
Provides school based services to students and their families, including consultation and training for school administrators and teachers, implementation of school climate initiatives, and coordination of site-based student support services.
 
Provides gang prevention and intervention services to at risk and gang involved youth and their families.
 
Maintains formal and informal liaison with mental health professionals and service providers including courts, schools, private therapists, hospitals, probation and other agencies.
 
Provides emergency psychological evaluation and recommendations.
 
Responds to critical incidents and other in-field emergency situations.
 
Performs related work as necessary.

Experience:    One (1) year providing counseling or psychotherapy to youth, families, groups and individuals.  Experience with probation involved or at-risk youth and experience with school based mental health services are highly desirable; experience working in school settings is highly desirable.

One (1) academic year of graduate level internship experience. One (1) relevant clinical internship placement is desirable.

Education:  Equivalent to a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work or a closely related field or a Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Overview:

The Program Administrator (Contracts Supervisor) plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates the procurement by contract of professional consultant services (architectural engineering "A/E" and non-A/E consultants) and specialized Valley Water activities, and coordinates and oversees contract administration activities.  The Program Administrator works on contracts that are highly complex and sensitive in nature, where substantial judgment and initiative are essential in making recommendations and resolving problems. THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, the Shelter Volunteer Coordinator assists in the planning, organization, implementation and review of the Animal Care Volunteer Program; assists with recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluation of volunteer staff; performs community liaison functions, coordinates public relations activities; humane education programs and performs related work as required.

 

You are:

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a volunteer coordinator working in an animal shelter. The candidate will have experience handling shelter animals and be able to train volunteers how to safely handle animals. The candidate will have experience in volunteer program development as well as the ability to analyze volunteer program data for retention. The ideal candidate will have some experience using the Chameleon software for animal management.  

 

 

 

Essential Duties

What you will do:

• Assists with production and update of volunteer training manuals and volunteer job descriptions. 
• Coordinates ongoing training opportunities for volunteers to enhance their skills and keep them engaged; implements a system to provide volunteers with consistent recognition to increase volunteer retention. 
• Coordinates volunteer meetings and annual Volunteer Recognition event. 
• Coordinates and attends meetings with Volunteer Coordinators from other Animal Care Services and volunteer organizations in the Bay Area.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Public Works and Utilities is comprised of six divisions that work collaboratively to develop, build, operate, and maintain Hayward's infrastructure. The Department is responsible for providing engineering and transportation support to City operating departments and divisions and for implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program, all while providing excellent customer service to the community.  

DEFINITION
To inspect a variety of public works projects funded by federal, state, and municipal funds and inspection of both public and private improvements in new subdivisions to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, schedule, and safety regulations during their construction. Projects include those involving federal and municipal funds and both public and private improvements in new subdivisions.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a skilled journey-level class that requires independence of action, judgement and discretion in interpreting plans and specifications and enforcing local, state, and federal construction regulations.

 

Essential Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Makes field inspections of a variety of public works projects including streets, roads, airport runways and taxiways, grade separations, curbs and gutters, sanitary sewers, storm drains, water lines, public buildings and structures, airport facilities, reservoirs, and new facilities for Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF).

Evaluates the quality of construction and of materials used in construction, to insure compliance with plans and specifications.

Requests and interprets results of soils, materials, and operational tests, including compaction test reports.

Performs contract administration duties including preparation of daily construction reports, weekly statement of working days, change orders, progress payments, general correspondence, and checking payroll records, material submittals, and certificates of compliance.

Writes letters to contractors, and initiates change orders concerning the contract.

Collects and reviews contractor payroll records to ensure compliance with state and federal wage rate laws.

Conducts employee interviews relative to federal requirements.

Write daily construction reports.

Estimates the cost of materials and labor necessary to complete new or unanticipated work.

Prepares progress payments to contractors and prepares reports relative to completed work.

Interprets and explains plans and specifications to the general public.

Responds to questions and complaints from the general public related to construction activities.

Enforces storm water pollution prevention program (SWPPP), Private and Public developments and makes reports for the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program.

The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Utilities Engineer with a water and/or wastewater background to supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Utilities Division. The Senior Utilities Engineer is a mid-management level position that performs, oversees, and directs engineering activities including planning, conceptual design, final design, cost estimating, project bidding, services during construction and construction management for a variety of projects in wastewater treatment, water storage and distribution, sewer collection, and storm water management. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment and related water/wastewater infrastructure projects. This position will serve as a key member of the team that will manage and deliver a $100 million treatment system upgrade for the City’s Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) to incorporate nutrient removal into the treatment process.  
 
DEFINITION
Under general direction, supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate the assigned functions and activities of the Engineering Section of the Utilities Division.
 
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a mid-management level position that performs, oversees, and directs all assigned activities of the Utilities engineering section, including planning, conceptual design, final design, cost estimating, project bidding process, services during construction and construction management for variety of projects in water distribution, sewer collection, storm water management, and wastewater treatment.  This position is distinguished from that of subordinate Associate Civil Engineer position by its responsibility for the supervision of assigned engineering and technical staff, in addition to engineering and technical responsibilities for project development, design, and construction management for more complex projects.  This position is distinguished from Deputy Director of Public Works for Utilities by the latter position's overall responsibility for all aspects of the Utilities Division functions.

The City of Hayward is accepting application for Police Officer--Academy Graduates and Academy Participants. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to: patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. Those candidates who are currently participating in the Police Academy would be hired as a Police Officer Trainee ($5,837-$6,125). - Free of any felony convictions.

- A citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship (Government Code Para. 1031).
