The Facility Attendant provides operational supervision of community centers during the absence of full-time staff. Work hours may vary but will often be evenings, weekends and occasionally weekdays. The location of the facility will be discussed during the interview and may be for multiple locations depending on availability.

The San Rafael Sanitation District (SRSD) is committed to protecting public health and the environment by providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective wastewater collection and conveyance services.  Serving residents and businesses in the San Rafael area, the District maintains and improves vital sewer infrastructure including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment connections to support a clean and sustainable community.  

As a sewer collection agency, the District maintains 33 pump stations, 13 miles of force main, and 132 miles of gravity sewer pipeline.  Each y ear the District replaces over 2.5 miles of gravity sewer as part of the annual CIP project.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The San Rafael Sanitation District is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Construction Inspector to help ensure the quality and safety of our vital sewer infrastructure. As a Construction Inspector, you'll perform field inspections on sewer system projects including pipelines, pump stations, and other capital improvements to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and District regulations.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking two diligent, energetic, dependable Administrative Technicians, one to serve in the Public Works Department and the other will serve the Building and Community Development departments. The Administrative Technician will perform a variety of technical-level administrative duties in support of an assigned City department or program. Duties may include areas relating to finance, grants, building, planning, public works, engineering, or general support of City operations. The selected candidates will conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare draft reports. In addition to tracking and reporting operational statistics, this position provides technical assistance to management. This is a lead position, assigning, reviewing, and training the work of other lower-level support staff.

There are two assignments within the City, one located in Public Works and one in City Hall. The Administrative Technicians will be expected to cross-train as emergency coverage for any department's administrative duties.

For the position assigned to Public Works: The Administrative Technician assigned to Public Works will report to the Director of Public Works/ City Engineer at 714 Johnson Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472. This position will perform clerical duties such as answering phones, providing office support services, and ordering supplies for the department. In addition, the position will manage budget tracking operations that include Springbook reports, invoicing, and project close-outs. The Administrative Technician will oversee contract processing, special event permit processing, and California Department of Industrial Relations(DIR) registrations. The selected candidate will assist in Council agenda reports and in preparing the agenda packets. This position will also serve as the Water Conservation Coordinator, providing news to the public on drought reports and Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) within the City.

For the position located in City Hall: The Administrative Technician will report to the City’s Building Official or Community Development Director at City Hall, 7120 Bodega Avenue, Sebastopol, CA 95472. The primary duties of this assignment will serve as the main City contact at the City’s public counter, providing support to the Building and Community Development departments. In, addition to supporting Building and Community Development in all permitting activities, this assignment involves providing administrative and analytical support for the City Clerk, Assistant City Manager and City Manager, serving as staff and support for public meetings, administering the media and public comment for assigned public meetings, tracking and responding to public records act requests, records retention assistance, assisting with records management, transcribing minutes, and updating the City’s website with official documents.  

Both positions are designed to work between departments, when necessary, to align with the strengths and interests of the incumbents, ensuring cohesive support for City departments and a tailored, enriching professional experience for the incumbents

The City is now accepting applications for the position of Management Analyst I/II. Management Analyst I/II is responsible for preparing and administering the department operating budget; managing and tracking purchasing; preparing written communication for executives and City Council; coordinating intra-departmental and departmental activities including public outreach; assisting with the development of various short- and long-term plans; supervising or leading administrative staff; and various special projects and duties as assigned. This position requires taking the initiative to problem-solve, effectively communicate, and champion teamwork.

Positions in the Management Analyst class series are flexibly staffed and positions at the Management Analyst II level are normally filled by advancement from the Management Analyst I level after gaining the knowledge, skill, and experience which meets the qualifications for and after demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Education and Experience:

• Management Analyst I- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field.

License and Certificate:

The Position

This new Urban Landscape Manager will have a primary focus on park capital maintenance projects and all phases of park maintenance contractor service agreements under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Together both of the Urban Landscape Managers will manage park staff and contractors in the care and upkeep of parks, medians, municipal landscape and hardscape, trails and open space. This includes assisting the Park Superintendent with administrative duties, short and long-term planning, organizing and supervising park maintenance operations and functions.
 
Examples of Duties

• Oversee assigned park maintenance capital projects and ensure all purchasing and legal requirements are met.
• Plan, schedule, organize, manage and assign work within sections of the Park Maintenance Division.
• Supervise employees as needed in performing park maintenance activities.
• Assign, train, direct, evaluate and assist in selecting subordinate staff.
• Monitor and prepare employee performance evaluations and plan staff development.
• Determine the needs and direct the development of staff training in work techniques, safety and other work-related matters.

• Review field activities, confer with staff and direct the corrections of any noted deficiencies or deviations from accepted practices.
• Assigned projects should be completed within approved budget and timeline and any variance need to be communicated to the Superintendent for approval.
• Provide input for operating and capital improvement plan budget development.
• Prepare estimate of maintenance impacts due to park or landscape improvements.
• Monitor expenditures to ensure conformance with the Division’s budget.
• Prepare bid materials, contracts and specifications for the maintenance of City owned landscaped areas.
• Assist with consultants’ selection, contract administration and inspection of the work of contractors.
• Determine the type of work to be done, and the personnel and equipment required to complete the work.
• Coordinate with other departments as needed on assigned capital projects.
• Interpret and communicate appropriate application of policy and operational procedures.
• Confer with staff to review and monitor operations and program implementation.

Senior Transportation Planner (Temporary/Hourly)

The Town of Los Gatos is accepting applications for a temporary/unbenefited Senior Transportation Planner position in the Parks and Public Works Department. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop a vital role within our organization.

The Senior Transportation Planner will focus on managing projects and programs that support sustainable transportation opportunities for the Town while addressing and improving mobility, safety, environmental, social, and economic conditions around transportation. The selected candidate will support the Town’s ongoing initiatives around transportation planning, including identifying grant programs and managing transportation planning-related projects.

Schedule: This is a temporary, hourly, at-will, non-benefited position limited to 999 hours of employment in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), up to 25 hours per week. The normal workweek is Monday through Friday, however, you may be occasionally required to attend evening meetings. 

About the Department
The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure.  Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism.  The Department has five service areas: Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders.

• Engineering Services: The Engineering team provides services in the areas of encroachment permits and permitting and inspection of other work in the public right of way, including situations where new developments need to provide improvements in the right of way.  
   
• Capital Improvement: The Capital Improvement team develops and constructs capital projects across all Town assets, including improvements to roads, streetlights, parks, and Town buildings. See the annual capital budget for a list of current capital projects.
   
• Streets and Signals: The Streets and Signals team maintains the Town’s roadways, signs, and traffic signals. • Park Services: The Park Services team maintains the Town’s parks, trails, open spaces, facility grounds, median islands, parking lot landscaping, downtown planters, and the urban forest as well as administering park use fees and reservations.

Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation development programs, including two (2) years of project management.  A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is desirable.

License and Certification:

Specialty assignments may add an additional 5% pay. 

Officers work 12-hour shifts as part of a team concept. Shift schedules include 4-10 and 3-12, which may be changed periodically as job assignments may be rotated among patrol, traffic, and criminal investigation.  Night shifts include 5% additional pay. 

EDUCATION:

Academy Graduates (no sworn experience) - High school diploma and a minimum of 45 units of college-level course work, in addition to graduation from a P.O.S.T. basic academy.

Academy Graduate candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment, meet the physical requirements set in the California P.O.S.T. screening manual.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.  Apply early as recruitment may close at any time. Initial screening of applicants will be based on quality of experience, education and training. Those selected will be subject to an interview, a thorough background check, a physical examination, drug screen, psychological evaluation, and polygraph. Failure to achieve a qualifying score on any portion of the selection process will eliminate a candidate from further consideration.
