DEFINITION: Under general supervision, the Field Monitor provides operational support and supervision of Mill Valley parks, outdoor fields, offsite facilities, and occasionally the Mill Valley Community Center. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to patrol and observation of outdoor facilities, ensuring compliance with facility regulations and use guidelines, general customer service, light office tasks, and the performance of other related work as required. This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Monitor user activities in department facilities and enforce all rules, regulations, and safety principles.
• Patrol field, park and offsite facilities to monitor rental schedules and permitted use.
• Act as a liaison to the outdoor recreational community for the Recreation Department.
• Provide quality customer service and information for all Department facilities, classes, programs, and events.
• Maintain appearance and overall environment of facilities by completing daily tasks and cleaning as needed.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
• Maintain records and reports as required.
• Enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to take the lead in completing assignments when working with a partner or on a team.
• Respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and build positive relationships with other staff.
• Actively attend and participate in required staff training.
• Reads and follows diagrams and instruction written in English.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Perform related duties as required.

THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
• Documentation including daily participant attendance;
• Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
• Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
• TB Clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA
• Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.

Lead Facilities Attendants are expected to oversee Facility Attendant staff, supporting ongoing training, communication, and tracking of facility rentals, as well as speak and respond to rental related needs/ issues.   This is a part-time, year-round position.

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and other related material and equipment.
• Greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, and events.
• Daily janitorial/maintenance duties such as routine and special cleaning of restrooms, community center rooms (i.e. wipe counters, vacuum floors, sweep walkways, empty trash receptacles, replace paper products and litter pick-up).
• Monitors guest activities in the community center and enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures for the entire Community Center.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
• Maintain records and reports as required.

• Ensuring that the participant’s needs are met through personal recognition and by providing quality service and group fitness classes.

Position Duties

The Council District Offices 2, 6, and 10 are up for election this year. The incoming elected officials will be recruiting for positions. The Council Community Relations Coordinator position will serve as a community relations representative in direct support of an elected official. The position will coordinate media communication and public information efforts for the Council District offices. Education and/or experience in the fields of public relations, communications, journalism, public information, web design, or marketing is highly desirable. Strong writing skills, communication skills, and computer proficiency with a firm grasp of social media tools and platforms are essential in this position. As well as the ability to develop and maintain effective relations with constituents and organizations with a positive and professional demeanor when working in public. Bilingual language skills (Vietnamese, Spanish, and/or Chinese), both oral and written, are desirable, but not required.
 
Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Planning, writing, and managing monthly external communications.
• Designing flyers, graphics, and material for community and public information.
• Updating and designing web and social media content. 
• Collaborating with staff on ideas for media and communication outreach to disseminate the Councilmember’s message to various audiences.
• Engaging and collaborating with constituents, organizations, and city staff as needed.
• Media relations and tracking.
• Planning and coordinating media events, interviews, and responses on behalf of the elected official. 
• Assisting with talking points, quotes, and messages for events and/or social media outlets.
