The City of Dixon is excited to announce the recruitment for a Public Works Director. The Public Works Director will play a critical leadership role during a period of elevated development activity and organizational transition. This position requires a hands-on leader who can maintain momentum on existing initiatives while advancing new priorities across Public Works, Engineering, and land development functions.

This is an exempt, "at-will" senior management position directly responsible to the City Manager.  Salary is negotiated within salary range depending on qualifications.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience may be invited to participate in the subsequent phase of the evaluation process which may include interviews, written exercises, or simulated work problems, after a contingent offer is made Ratification by City Council.

Note: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. This process may be subject to change as deemed necessary.

Employment Processing: Those selected are subject to pre-employment drug testing, DOJ Clearance (Fingerprinting), credit check and reference checks. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.
