The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help applications for the position of Correctional Technician within the Probation Department - Youth Detention Facilities and the Sheriff's Department - Jail Division. Working under general supervision, the Correctional Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring video and audio systems to maintain the safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff within the secure detention areas. Additional responsibilities include performing various technical and clerical tasks related to the intake and release process for the County's Jail system, and juveniles at the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center, inputting relevant data into the booking system, documenting inmate and juvenile observations, providing public reception, access, and assistance as required, and other related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Essential:

• Process paperwork provided by law enforcement officer or the courts for new inmates or youth; verify information on booking forms; obtain signatures; oversee telephone usage; obtain photographs; inventory and securely process property and money for safekeeping.
• Gather and enter inmate or youth information into computerized booking system; prepare and route computer-generated booking; complete files, logs, charts and other documents associated with jail or juvenile detention facility booking activities.
• Participate in monitoring safety and security of the staff, inmates, juveniles, visitors and facility; notify appropriate staff of any incidents, problems, or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and assess the behavior of inmates or youth from a control room; monitor radio communications; and operate intercom and electronic door controls in routine and emergency conditions.
• Process court paperwork, process discharge paperwork, and enter data into computer system.
• Update manual and automated inmate or youth records and tracking systems.
• Monitor inmates or youth on exercise yard from a controlled area; monitor and document inmates’ or youths’ recreational activities.
• Process and monitor visitors, ascertains nature of business, assist and/or direct visitors to appropriate person, observe visitation, report security violations.

Share your passion by teaching students! Enrichment instructors lead a one hour class on-site after school. Enjoy the freedom to plan a curriculum on your area of expertise and share that knowledge with a class size of 5-15 students.

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this position.

DEFINITION: Plan, organize and execute personal curriculum for elementary age children for a one hour onsite outdoor enrichment program. Program hours could include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2pm – 4pm and Wednesday 1:15pm – 3:15pm, preparation hours can be discussed.

• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
• Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.
