ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the full-time (38 hours per week) position of Senior Library Assistant.  The Senior Library Assistant performs a wide array of high-level library work and customer service. The current vacancy is based at our Downtown Library, performing a wide variety of technical library work, providing services for children, adults and families, and administering the day-to-day activities of the library.  The candidate may also be assigned to work at other Redwood City Public Library locations.  This position requires work during the day, evenings and a weekend rotation (both Saturday and Sunday).  We may use the eligibility list created from this recruitment process to fill any positions that occur in any Redwood City Public Library location, during the life of the eligibility list. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Public Works Services Department invites you to apply for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II. This position is expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water systems; perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair of water system mains, pipes, and facilities. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I is the entry-level classification in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series. The Public Works Maintenance Worker II is the journey level in the class series. There are currently multiple openings in the Public Works Services Department, Water Utilities section. Incumbents receive immediate supervision from higher level staff progressing to general supervision with training and experience.

At a 24 hour a day police dispatch center, you will be using a sophisticated Computer Aided Dispatch terminal. A Communications Dispatcher receives emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency service; determine priority, and dispatch police, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures. 

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintaining contact with all units on assignment and maintaining status and location of police field units.
• Coordinating emergency calls (911) and relaying information and assistance requests involving other agencies.
• Entering, updating, and retrieving information from networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information.

The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighter Trainees who, under immediate supervision, actively participate in the Firefighter Academy training program. Trainees perform all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Firefighter/Engineer classification within the Fire Department of the City of Redwood City.  See Firefighter Trainee job description for more details. Upon successful completion of the Firefighter Academy training program and Field Training Orientation (FTO/Apprentice), incumbents of this non-sworn classification may be appointed to the sworn classification of Firefighter/Engineer and serve a probationary period of eighteen (18) months. The Firefighter/Engineer monthly salary range is from $9,814.37 to $12,527.69. Please see the Firefighter/Engineer job description for more details.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. or California Certificate of Proficiency).
• Possession of a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR a valid Paramedic certification, prior to appointment.
• Proof of a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) dated within 12 months prior to appointment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license prior to appointment to the classification of Firefighter/ Engineer.
• To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must be on the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center's (FCTC) Statewide Eligibility List (SEL).
