The City of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Teen Program/Camp Leaders, Assistant Camp Directors, Camp Directors who are interested in working 25-40 hours per week during the summer, planning, organizing, and conducting basic recreation activities in a variety of settings selected by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of SECRETARY in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (Recreation Division). The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of complex and secretarial duties in daily support of the Red Morton Community Center. This position has the responsibility for a wide range of administrative support functions as well as providing top-notch customer service to customers of all ages and backgrounds. Verbal bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are highly desirable.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Independently compose correspondence related to responsibilities assigned.
• Act as a receptionist and customer service specialist for general City services.
• Initiate and maintain a variety of files and records for information such as payroll, attendance, budget, payables, as well as taking activity registration.
• Recommend organization or procedural changes affecting the administrative team.
• Serve as back-up for other administrative staff as necessary.
• May serve as Secretary for a Board, Commission or Committee.
• Assist non-profit partners and organizations with clerical and financial duties.
• Provide guidance and connections for participants seeking recreation programs, sports leagues, non-profits, or community support.
• Supervise and train staff and volunteers.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Thrives in an active, fast-paced setting that includes gym spaces, teen centers, and summer camp programs.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic people to work within our After School Sports and Mobile Recreation programs operated out of Red Morton Community Center. The hours of this position could be Monday through Friday, from 3:30pm-8:30pm during the school year, but nighttime and weekend hours will be mandatory depending on special events and program needs. During the spring and summer, duties will include, but are not limited to, serving as a head coach within our Junior Dribblers basketball program and leading mobile recreation activities at various parks and school sites. This position will report directly to the After School Sports Coordinator.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Provide gym/field oversite and coordination at various gyms and school sites within Redwood City; act in the capacity of lead scorekeeper or field supervisor; train new scorekeepers and/or field attendants as needed; possess a firm understanding of league rules and policies; ensure that games and practices operated in a safe, inclusive environment; report any issues immediately to After School Sports Coordinator; address all parent or league issues in a timely and professional manner; maintain and care for all sports and mobile rec equipment; follow departmental and city-wide rules and regulations as they relate to the supervision of sports program and general work procedures; assist with other programs within the Parks & Recreation Department, including but not limited to, facilities, special events, and other youth programs.

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team-oriented full-time (38-hours per week) Librarian, to coordinate the library’s outreach and deliver innovative programs and services for children and families throughout the community. The position is flexibly staffed at the Librarian I/II or Lead Librarian level, depending on the candidate’s experience. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

The current opening is based at the Downtown Library and will provide services and programs for youth at all three library locations and in the community. The position will require work during the day, evenings and weekends. ABOUT THE POSITION
Redwood City is known for delivering a large variety of high-quality special events year-round including concerts, festivals, cultural events, kids concerts, pop up recreational activities, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team; report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.
Work schedules can vary during the year pending current event programming. Candidates can expect an average of 15-20 hours per week throughout the year.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library Activity Leader supports the Youth Services and Neighborhood Libraries Divisions working year-round at the family friendly Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library. They work with library staff to create and deliver storytimes, events and programs, follow library policy and procedures, and provide excellent customer service to families, children and teens at the branch libraries.

About the Position: The Library Activity Leader supports the Makerspace at the Downtown Library and potentially at the library branches and outreach events. They work with the library staff to create and deliver a variety of programs for children related to robotics, coding, and other STEM education concepts.  They may support additional Makerspace programming related to 3D printing, laser cutting, Cricut, machine sewing, and art projects.

The City of Redwood City is offering exciting opportunities to support local youth through after-school programs at various school sites. We're looking for enthusiastic and motivated Program Leader II’s to join our team!

In this role, you will:

• Lead the planning and facilitation of diverse, enriching youth activities
• Inspire student engagement through health, recreation, and service projects
• Develop activity calendars and lesson plans that foster growth, learning, and leadership

This position will report directly to the Recreation and Community Service Program Coordinator.  position, gaining hands-on experience in youth development. This part-time position offers

20–28 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the 2025–2026 school year (August to June, depending on site assignment).
