CIVIL ENGINEERING COLLEGE SUMMER INTERNSHIP

The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside sworn officers and professional staff while supporting public safety initiatives that benefit the Gilroy community.

The intern will assist multiple divisions within the department by providing clerical and administrative support related to crime analysis, youth task force and gang prevention initiatives, public safety communications, and community outreach programs. The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Senior Lifeguards for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs and the upcoming to work at the year-round Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for positive, patient, motivated, self-driven individuals that have a passion for working in aquatics and with children, who wish to make a difference in a child's life by teaching them lifelong water skills! Swimming experience is required. Additional program training will be provided once hired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM and complete an in-person skills assessment. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Aquatic Instructors (Swim Instructors) for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. **No certifications or previous experience is required! Candidates must be comfortable in the water. Swim Instructor training will be provided once hired.**

• Summer Swim Lessons run on Monday-Thurday mornings (7:45 am – 12:00 pm), Monday-Thurday evenings (3:45 pm - 8:00 pm), and Saturday mornings (7:45 am- 12:00 pm).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, this position provides swim instruction to adults and children and conducts related work as required
• Swim Instructors teach, supervise, and assess students of all ages and abilities
• Teach group and private swim lessons to adults and children of all abilities
• Use proper teaching tools, equipment, and techniques while teaching swim lessons
• Maintain order and prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons in the pool area.

The Waterpark Deck Crew provides custodial maintenance and supervision of the Waterpark before, during, and after Waterpark operations. Work hours may vary but will often be mornings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

The Camp Director is primarily responsible for general and/or specialty camps. The Camp Director is responsible for all aspects of camp planning and implementation of camp programming.

• Must have experience planning camp activities for school age children in a variety of settings (after school, child care and classroom experience may be substituted)
• Must have strong organizational skills and work independently and reliably complete tasks
• Must be able to work in changing climates (indoors and outdoors)
• Must be physical ability to load/unload, and carry bundles of supplies up to 25 lbs.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting for a full-time Accounting Assistant I in the Finance Department. This position will primarily be assigned to the Utility Billing/Information Desk area, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, and performing cashiering and accounting-related work. The Finance Department’s goal is to provide timely and accurate financial information to City Management, City Council, and the public, while responsibly managing the City’s assets, including cash and investments.

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager or Supervising Accounting Technician, the Accounting Assistant will perform a wide variety of accounting and statistical record-keeping assignments related to maintaining financial and statistical records. This position may provide support in one or more of the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, and/or the front information desk.

This role offers opportunities to build foundational experience in municipal finance and may serve as a steppingstone to the Accounting Assistant II classification, depending on performance and experience gained.
