The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those curious to learn about the ins and outs of police work for the position of Police Cadet in the Police Department. Under the supervision of veteran Police Officer's the cadet experiences what it takes to develop important cadet skills. Examples: cadet patrol, traffic control, attending meetings, delivery of witness subpoenas, report taking, provide assistance to the various bureaus within the department, directing phone calls to the appropriate personnel, learns how to interact with the community during all kinds of problem-solving situations.

This is an entry-level, volunteer position intended as an educational and career development internship. In addition to serving a support role within the Police Department, this classification is exposed to a wide variety of law enforcement duties and will gain experience in the work place.

A Cadet volunteers a minimum of 8 hours per month and work is conducted both in a police station and in the field. Work involves irregular, often non-scheduled, hours during the day and evenings, and on the weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

THE LINCOLN POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Lincoln Police Department proudly serves a thriving and rapidly growing community in Placer County. THE POSITION

The Police Captain reports to the Chief of Police and serves as the Department’s second-in-command. Receiving general direction from the Chief, the Captain is responsible for exercising direct supervision over sworn and non-sworn management, supervisory, technical, and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of management and supervision. The Captain’s direct reports are a Lieutenant, a Detective Sergeant, and a Dispatch/Records Supervisor. Key job functions of the Police Captain role include planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and evaluating the work of all major divisions of the Police Department; developing, recommending, and administering policies and procedures; continuously monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assessing and monitoring workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; and managing and participating in the development and administration of the division’s budget.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to the following)

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. Additionally, the incumbent in this position may work in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The Dixon Fire Department is looking to fill one, full-time regular position of Fire Administrative Analyst. This position provides administrative support in the fire department environment including management of records; office management; reception; research; budget preparation; document preparation; project management; and supervision.

This is the primary administrative managerial position in the fire department environment, reporting directly to the Fire Chief. It requires a considerable degree of initiative, independent judgement and tact in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters. Distinguishing Characteristics

The Accounting Manager is the management-level class responsible for assisting the Director, or designee, in the day-to-day administrating, directing and managing of assigned divisions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Experience:  At least one (1) year of experience in resource management, parks & recreation, or other relevant customer service positions.

License and Certificates:  Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required upon hire.

All of these positions are temporary/part time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.

The pay cycle is bi-weekly.  Except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave accrual, no other benefits are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.
